This newly built custom residence turned out to be spectacular. With Interiors by Popov’s magic touch, it has become a real family home that is comfortable for the grownups, safe for the kids and friendly to the little dogs that now occupy this space.The start of construction was a bumpy road for the homeowners. After the house was framed, our clients found themselves paralyzed with the million and one decisions that had to be made. Decisions about plumbing, electrical, millwork, hardware and exterior left them drained and overwhelmed. The couple needed help. It was at this point that they were referred to us by a friend.We immediately went about systematizing the selection and design process, which allowed us to streamline decision making and stay ahead of construction. We designed every detail in this house. And when I say every detail, I mean it. We designed lighting, plumbing, millwork, hard surfaces, exterior, kitchen, bathrooms, fireplace and so much more. After the construction-related items were addressed, we moved to furniture, rugs, lamps, art, accessories, bedding and so on. The result of our systematic approach and design vision was a client head over heels in love with their new home. The positive feedback we received from this homeowner was immensely gratifying. They said the only thing that they regret was not hiring Interiors by Popov sooner!

M-S Pro Architects announce the completion of an indoor swimming pool in a state-of-the-art, single storey family home set in a picturesque location on the outskirts of Bratislava - one of Europe’s youngest capital cities. Kebony, a beautiful wood recommended by leading architects, was chosen to craft the ceiling of the swimming pool, which is designed to emulate rippling waves as well as for the terrace deck and structural beams. Sustainability and a desire to recreate the close proximity often seen between wood and water in the natural environment were primary focuses in the design of this project. This led a requirement for a low maintenance wood, compatible humidity and with advanced durability, for the swimming pool ceiling. In addition, a high level of precision when cutting the wood was required in order to achieve the desired appearance of waves. Supplied by Leading Market, Kebony was carefully selected for the pool ceiling, which consists of 490 lamellae of timber, due to its versatility, durability and environmental credentials. Kebony was also installed throughout the exterior of this property, both for the spacious outdoor terrace and the exterior and interior beams. One of the reasons to choose Kebony was the unified look of wood in all these different applications. Developed in Norway, the patented Kebony technology uses an environmentally friendly process, which permanently enhances the properties of sustainable softwood with a bio-based liquid derived from agricultural crop waste. By polymerising the wood’s cell wall with furfuryl alcohol, the wood gains greatly improved durability and dimensional stability, giving it characteristics similar to those of tropical hardwood. Located in the East Bay, this property actually consists of two separate lots with the larger parcel, being a nonconforming lot and the other, an abandoned county roadway easement, which we are in the process of merging as one. The client wanted us to design a new single-story 3 bedroom 2 ½ bath home that he could either build as his personal residence, or if he elected to sell the property to another developer—once the lot merger was finalized with the County--he could have the flexibly to do so. The project’s location required us to design a modest family home that would have universal appeal to broad section of the real estate market of new home buyers looking to relocate in the Contra Costa Area. The home is designed in the popular Farmhouse Style, and has a habitable floor area of 2,082 square feet and comes with an attached 484 square foot two-car garage, along with all of the usual amenities and features found on similar new homes in this part of the East Bay.

We met about five years ago, we started talking, I gave a price and nothing really happened. After about two months I went back to her and then she said to me, "Well, I think we'll get on." And ... we started ... many sketches, I send, she returns and so on for a short period of time. Even in the advanced stages things were very dynamic out of the need of both of us to be involved in all the little details. The result is a special home for a special woman. Part of the house was designed so that he could connect and disconnect according to the needs of the landlady and her daughters. Most of the contents of the house and its accessories were imported personally from China - from the carvings and the sweeps - through the lighting, the kitchen and most of the carpentry, and of course the furniture and even the aluminum. The house is located at the end of the moshav and turns north to the fields and banana groves, so that most of the windows of the house look like rustic countryside. The planning process was such that it was clear that we planned a lifestyle, not just walls. I am of course biased, but it seems to me that the result is not the same as anything else. Kayla Carter of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Wilmington, NC, collaborated with Adam Aberte to design a traditional-style kitchen featuring Green Forest Cabinetry in the Brookside door style with a Glazed Ivory finish. The space is complemented by Silestone Lusso countertops and Wow Fez White tile. The client shared, “The hardest part of this remodeling project was making decisions. Kayla was key to the success of this project. She was patient, understanding, and always had a positive attitude. Her taste and help with color and design were invaluable. What I love most about my new kitchen is how beautiful and functional it is.
