Stebnitz Builders, Inc.When our clients purchased their home on Lake Beulah near East Troy, they knew they wanted to make changes. The home had a mixed architectural style – rustic on the outside but traditional inside. Major renovations to the home focused on three main areas – the living room, the dining room and the master bedroom. Walls were removed to open up and better unify the living room and kitchen spaces. One window in the living room became nearly a wall of windows to allow for better views of the lake, and two skylights added more natural light.
In addition, all the cherry stained millwork, baseboards and window trim on the first floor were painted. Carpenters installed wood ceilings and stained the new posts and beam structures. Doors, window sills and seats also received fresh stain. To add to the rustic interior, we focused on details such as the laundry room door just off the kitchen. There a rustic, wooden sliding barn door became and interesting focal point.
Gayler Design BuildWhen a new widow decided to move, she found a near perfect house to downsize to in Rossmoor, a gated community in Walnut Creek. A well-executed renovation helped to make it home—one that reminded her of her previous home in Berkeley, but smaller and easier to manage.
Luckily, the original layout of the house worked for the client, so for the most part, she only needed to update the look and feel of the rooms. The house was remodeled with new White Oak hardwood flooring, new windows with white wood shutters, and new doors and hardware throughout. Every room also received a fresh coat of paint. As a very talented painter, the client mixed her own custom colors, which Gayler Design Build gladly applied for her.
The kitchen was designed with custom southwest cherry Precision Cabinets, Lemurian Blue Quartzite countertops, and a Venetian Classic Tuscan Slate tile backsplash.
The Sub-Zero refrigerator was disguised using custom cabinet appliance panels, effectively integrating it with the cabinetry wall for a unified look. Other stainless steel appliances included a Wolf rangetop, range hood, oven and microwave.

Bob Michels Construction’s submission is a unique space featuring a car carousel which operates both as a space to highlight the owner’s car collection and the functional purpose to turn cars around and drive out of the showroom. Phantom’s retractable screens turned the open-air ramada into a large entertaining and gathering screened porch area with one touch of a button.
“Phantom’s retractable screens were used to achieve a desired mix of modern and traditional finishes,” said Andrew Michels, Vice President of Bob Michels Construction. “Phantom Screens is the only company that allowed the customization of this unique space with a long-lasting and sustainable product.”
The winner was selected by a panel of Phantom Screen judges and evaluated primarily on design and creativity, market appeal and livability, and product integration. The winning project received recognition on booth signage at the NAHB International Builders Show, a one-page advertorial feature in Builder magazine, an in depth case study and more!

Cascade Outdoor DesignThis riverfront property received a major facelift while keeping with the traditional style of the home. Working between an existing bulkhead and a covered patio off the back of the house, we incorporated various design elements to add plenty of "rooms" for the homeowners to entertain in. The linear pool features an elevated inset spa, with infinity edge. The pool deck, landing, and cabana floor are travertine. Brick stairs and walls match the existing brick from the property. A linear fire pit sits in a sunken gravel patio, to create a more intimate space and soften the feel of the hardscape surround. Raised planters break up space and add a bright pop of color, encouraging butterflies and birds to visit often.

ZepbooThis is a case study of a client living in Barcelona, Spain. The client's residence is a 150-square-meter home. The client's preferred style is a mix of modern and rustic country, predominantly featuring white, black, and wooden tones, complemented by colorful decorations. The client's objective was to find a pendant light for the dining area that would align with the bohemian and country farmhouse style of her dining room. With a dining table and chairs crafted from natural wood, she wanted the lighting to perfectly complement the overall ambiance of the dining space.
We selected this round, wicker pendant light for her, as it harmoniously matched the desired style. With a lighting coverage of up to 15 square meters, and considering the generous size of the client's dining area, we recommended that she purchase two pendant lights to ensure ample illumination.
Upon receiving the products, the client expressed her satisfaction with how well the pendant lights aligned with her requirements. We are delighted to share this case study with everyone, hoping to provide inspiration and ideas for their own home renovations.

Drewett WorksLocated near the base of Scottsdale landmark Pinnacle Peak, the Desert Prairie is surrounded by distant peaks as well as boulder conservation easements. This 30,710 square foot site was unique in terrain and shape and was in close proximity to adjacent properties. These unique challenges initiated a truly unique piece of architecture.
Planning of this residence was very complex as it weaved among the boulders. The owners were agnostic regarding style, yet wanted a warm palate with clean lines. The arrival point of the design journey was a desert interpretation of a prairie-styled home. The materials meet the surrounding desert with great harmony. Copper, undulating limestone, and Madre Perla quartzite all blend into a low-slung and highly protected home.
Located in Estancia Golf Club, the 5,325 square foot (conditioned) residence has been featured in Luxe Interiors + Design’s September/October 2018 issue. Additionally, the home has received numerous design awards.
