This beautiful property is located in the hills above of Montecito with 360 degree of views onto the Channel Islands and the surrounding mountains. Inspired by the Japanese landscape design principal of the borrowed landscape the gardens on this property serves as a kind of picture frame from which to view the natural beauty of its surroundings.
This 15-year-old costume-built home was crafted with all the style and workmanship ship found in Villa or Château in the Mediterranean. Unfortunately, the garden design was not as well thought out as the house was. Most of this property receives baking sun, drying winds and is in an extremely high fire danger area. Do to these factors many of the plants on the property were unsuitable for their location. The original planting scheme was also lifeless and colorless. Poor landscape maintenance had left many of the plants on the property sick and dying.
We came in to revive this landscape, breathing new life into it.
Creating a drought tolerant and fire wise landscape was of utmost importance to these clients. Staying true to the more formal landscape styles found in Southern Europe we also want to create an opportunity to design seamlessly blend with its natural surroundings. We did that by incorporating a lot of California native plants. This vast property also contains an avocado orchard and a vineyard. By adding California native plants the property is inviting in native birds and insects that help keep pollinate the orchard and vineyard and keep pest problems at bay. Because these clients enjoy harvesting from their land we added elements of edible landscaping to this project. We filled pottery and planter beds with fruit trees, culinary and medicinal herbs as well as flowers that can be used in cut flower arrangements. Lastly, we went through carefully pruning diseased plants, treating pest problems an improving the soil. Now the landscape is not only more beautiful it is more protected against fire, is more water wise and integrate into its surrounds with a wholistic approach.

This dated 1950s ranch received a complete renovation that allowed the homeowners to take full advantage of the 180 degree views of downtown. The house was unified with dark hardwood floors, smooth gray walls, and black accents throughout. The dated pink bathtub was replaced with a sleek marble shower. The kitchen with yellow appliances was updated with a new layout that allowed for a large island, separate pantry and wide opening to the family room and dining room.

This is our exceptional interior design project in the beautiful town of Long Grove, IL. This project encompassed the transformation of several key areas within a house, including the kitchen, primary suite, family room, and dining room, creating a harmonious and luxurious living environment.
The kitchen, often considered the heart of the home, underwent a remarkable makeover. Our design team carefully selected beautiful cabinetry that not only provides ample storage but also adds a touch of elegance to the space. The choice of materials for the backsplash, countertops, and flooring was thoughtfully considered to create a cohesive and visually stunning aesthetic. Every detail, from the custom millwork to the lighting fixtures, was meticulously chosen to enhance functionality and elevate the overall design.
The primary suite received special attention, with a focus on creating a spa-like oasis of tranquility and comfort. The primary bathroom was transformed into a space that exudes serenity, featuring luxurious materials, soothing colors, and thoughtful lighting. From the calming color palette to the choice of fixtures and fittings, every element was carefully curated to create a rejuvenating environment where one can truly unwind and relax.
The family room and dining room were designed to foster an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness. The family room provides a comfortable and inviting space for gathering and entertaining, with carefully selected furniture and accessories that combine style and functionality. In the dining room, attention was given to creating a refined and elegant ambiance, ensuring that every meal is a special occasion. Custom lighting fixtures and statement pieces enhance the overall design, adding a touch of sophistication to these spaces.
Throughout the project, our design team worked closely with the homeowners to understand their unique preferences and lifestyle. We incorporated their personal style while ensuring that each space seamlessly flowed from one to another, creating a cohesive and visually appealing whole.

This kitchen received a huge update and remodel including removing a hanging cabinet to make things brighter and more open and to improve the space between the kitchen and dining room. The work also included new flooring, paint, cabinets, sink, and appliances. You can wouldn't know it was the same kitchen!

The owners of this magnificent fly-in/ fly-out lodge had a vision for a home that would showcase their love of nature, animals, flying and big game hunting. Featured in the 2011 Design New York Magazine, we are proud to bring this vision to life.
Chuck Smith, AIA, created the architectural design for the timber frame lodge which is situated next to a regional airport. Heather DeMoras Design Consultants was chosen to continue the owners vision through careful interior design and selection of finishes, furniture and lighting, built-ins, and accessories.
HDDC's involvement touched every aspect of the home, from Kitchen and Trophy Room design to each of the guest baths and every room in between. Drawings and 3D visualization were produced for built in details such as massive fireplaces and their surrounding mill work, the trophy room and its world map ceiling and floor with inlaid compass rose, custom molding, trim & paneling throughout the house, and a master bath suite inspired by and Oak Forest. A home of this caliber requires and attention to detail beyond simple finishes. Extensive tile designs highlight natural scenes and animals. Many portions of the home received artisan paint effects to soften the scale and highlight architectural features. Artistic balustrades depict woodland creatures in forest settings. To insure the continuity of the Owner's vision, we assisted in the selection of furniture and accessories, and even assisted with the selection of windows and doors, exterior finishes and custom exterior lighting fixtures.
Interior details include ceiling fans with finishes and custom detailing to coordinate with the other custom lighting fixtures of the home. The Dining Room boasts of a bronze moose chandelier above the dining room table. Along with custom furniture, other touches include a hand stitched Mennonite quilt in the Master Bedroom and murals by our decorative artist.
