Nancy Knickerbocker of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Southern Pines, NC designed a primary bathroom featuring Merillat Masterpiece cabinetry’s Gannon door style in Evercore with a Moonshine finish. Selections for bathroom include Silestone Quartz in a Pearl Jasmine finish vanity countertops along with fixtures and accessories from Kohler and Moen. The shower features 12x24 and 2x2 Bakersfield Pumice floor tile, shower floor tile and 10x12 Bianco shower wall tile. The client emphasized Nancy's pivotal role in the remodel's success. "She was respectful of our budget, our needs (more handicap-friendly and storage space, fewer doors) and was knowledgeable about what was and wasn’t doable in our situation. Her excellent design suggestions took into consideration our choices for cabinets, fixtures, countertops, flooring and etc. She was interested and always available to help throughout the entire project," said the client. Nancy highlighted the bathroom's outdated features from the era of the garden tub. "The homeowner wanted to add storage, enlarge the shower and overall update the bathroom. By removing the tub, we added a cabinet with two roll-out shelves, a trash cabinet, and laundry hamper cabinet. Kohler mirrored medicine cabinets added personal storage above the sinks. To allow easier access to the bathroom, the entry door was widened. As a result, the vanity needed to be reduced to 18” deep." "The Kohler Veticyl 13” square sink was the perfect choice for the limited space! The shower insert was replaced with a tile shower, a glass panel and large door. We also removed the water closet door and reduced the height of the wall. There is still privacy and allows for easier access to the area. My favorite part of the project is the area where the tub was once located. The cabinetry and the arched window are lovely!” said Nancy. Photo courtesy of ShowSpaces Photography.

This porch, located in Grant Park, had been the same for many years with typical rocking chairs and a couch. The client wanted to make it feel more like an outdoor room and add much needed storage for gardening tools, an outdoor dining option, and a better flow for seating and conversation. My thought was to add plants to provide a more cozy feel, along with the rugs, which are made from recycled plastic and easy to clean. To add curtains on the north and south sides of the porch; this reduces rain entry, wind exposure, and adds privacy. This renovation was designed by Heidi Reis of Abode Agency LLC who serves clients in Atlanta including but not limited to Intown neighborhoods such as: Grant Park, Inman Park, Midtown, Kirkwood, Candler Park, Lindberg area, Martin Manor, Brookhaven, Buckhead, Decatur, and Avondale Estates. Custom sheer and blackout drapery installation in a custom-built waterfront home overlooking Lake Norman in Catawba, North Carolina. Designed to address the challenges of expansive lakefront windows, this layered window treatment combines elegant sheer drapes with custom blackout drapery on a double-rod traversing system. The homeowners wanted to enjoy natural light and their Lake Norman views while gaining better control over harsh sunlight, daytime glare and privacy. The sheer drapery provides a softer layer of filtered natural light during the day, reducing the intensity of direct sunlight while maintaining an open, airy appearance. The blackout drapery provides a second layer of light control and privacy when needed, making the combination especially useful for rooms with significant sun exposure. In addition to improving comfort, the layered drapery helps limit direct sunlight reaching hardwood floors, furniture and interior finishes. Reducing prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can help protect these surfaces from fading and discoloration. The double-rod traversing arrangement allows the sheer and blackout panels to operate independently, giving the homeowner flexibility throughout the day. This project illustrates how custom window treatments can address the practical challenges of lakefront living without compromising interior design. Custom drapery offers an attractive solution for oversized windows, large glass openings and custom-built homes where glare reduction, privacy, natural light and outdoor views are important considerations. Installed by Bloomin’ Blinds of North Charlotte, a locally owned father-and-son window treatment company. Rick and Cole provide in-home consultations, custom drapery, professional window measurements and installation, along with custom blinds, shades, shutters and motorized window treatment options. Proudly serving Lake Norman and surrounding North Carolina communities, including Catawba, Sherrills Ford, Denver, Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville and North Charlotte.
