Dennis Mayer photographed our 7" wide plank Hickory floor in Cupertino, California. A custom finish was applied including hand scraping and distressing. This is an incredibly durable UV applied finish.

The project’s goal is to introduce more affordable contemporary homes for Triangle Area housing. This 1,800 SF modern ranch-style residence takes its shape from the archetypal gable form and helps to integrate itself into the neighborhood. Although the house presents a modern intervention, the project’s scale and proportional parameters integrate into its context. Natural light and ventilation are passive goals for the project. A strong indoor-outdoor connection was sought by establishing views toward the wooded landscape and having a deck structure weave into the public area. North Carolina’s natural textures are represented in the simple black and tan palette of the facade.

This particular picture exemplifies the picture framing on the bench. This customer wanted their deck to have seating around the edge. We built their deck and deck seating out of AZEK composite decking in Slate Grey. It features a double picture frame on the deck and single picture frame on the bench seating. This will be a lovely space for the customer to enjoy the outdoors in low maintenance on the comfort.

Longleaf Lumber skip-planed oak flooring with original circular saw marks. Milled for a home in Arlington, Massachusetts. Checking, knots, and other features bring out the character in this centuries-old wood.

AquaGuard Gogh Water-Resistant Laminate | Floor & Decor

This deck has a continual radius edge that had to be matched even in the bench sections at the stairs. The wood is a vertical grain A grade cedar and tight knot on the risers. No steaming or laminating were needed on this deck. By Westbrook Restorations Master Carpenter services.

Exterior forms are emphasized with glass and fiber-cement panels at the top level, soaring over and sheltering containers clad in tougher, leathery Corten Steel at the ground level. Exposed concrete walls and rock-filled gabion retaining was selected to anchor the partially day-lighted basement level and garages to the land. Materials were chosen to be low-maintenance, relatively inexpensive, and to contrast the volumes that express the interior spaces.
