Project 3362-1 NE Minneapolis Traditional Kitchen Refresh - Castle Building & Remodeling, Inc. Twin Cities MN 55418
This project was a unique kitchen refresh project. The original Northeast Minneapolis home was built in 1920, and sometime in the 90’s an addition with a remodeled kitchen was completed.
While the current homeowners appreciated the size and general layout of the kitchen, they wanted a more open floor plan to the dining room and to add some additional storage within the existing kitchen space.
An old desk area was not useful for them, so that was removed and the fridge was moved to that area. New cabinets were added in the corner for some additional storage space for the homeowner’s baking goods and was set up as a coffee area.
Where the old fridge once stood, the wall was opened up to create a new, wider opening to the dining room with a new peninsula for their kids and guests to sit. With some challenges in finding significant plumbing and HVAC in the wall being opened, the end result is a little different than originally planned – but that is the story of remodeling!
All the original oak and new, matched oak cabinets were stained darker on the bottom, and painted white on the top.
New Cambria countertops add a classic touch to the space, and the homeowners did a fantastic job of installing their own tile backsplash and Adura luxury vinyl flooring. They now have a more classic yet eclectic space to entertain their guests (and children) in for years to come.

This compact kitchen was refreshed while preserving its classic white cabinetry and traditional architectural details. White quartz countertops with subtle gray veining replaced the previous wood surfaces, creating a brighter, cleaner, and more durable workspace.
A glossy white subway tile backsplash adds texture and reflects light throughout the room, while black hardware provides crisp contrast against the cabinetry. Glass-front upper cabinets, crown molding, stainless steel appliances, and warm hardwood flooring complete the timeless design. The result is a more polished and cohesive kitchen with improved everyday functionality.

This is a kitchen refresh project we recently completed in Playa Vista. The homeowners were content with the layout and enjoyed the already easy flow and open floor plan. By keeping the existing layout and cabinetry, but adding some updates we brought new life into this kitchen. The cabinets were refinished with Blue Toille and Simply White paint from Benjamin Moore, new Viatera countertops were installed, and adding Daltile's Revalia backsplash brought a nice pop of color and new style to this kitchen.

This kitchen was a great Refresh candidate with its dated door design, dated wood color, exposed hinges and dated hardware.

Our most unique addition to to this kitchen refresh was double soap pumps, one for dish soap and one for had soap. This with the counter top dishwasher switch have cleared the counters and maximized the function of this kitchen that once felt dark, small and crowded. Now it's bright, light and a perfect display for the clients worldly finds. This one is all about counter space and character!

NO CUSTOM ISLAND NEEDED
Because we were able to use the Refresh process on this island, we were able to save the client thousands versus if they had to have an entirely custom island made.

A complete renovation of this open plan living and dining room. The refresh included contemporary design with a new colour scheme including paint, curtains & blinds, lighting, finishes, furniture and decor. A great example of the power of a colour and style update, and the right design selections!

Classic Whites and Green Trending
Refreshing bathroom remodel completed in classic whites and trending green. Beautiful, clean, and modern describes this bathroom remodel. First, a Schluter®-KERDI-TUBKIT is chosen by client. Tubkits provide all the components necessary to complete a tub surround. Kerdi tubkit creates a fully waterproof and vapor tight bathtub surround. Next, client selected a glass mix accent tile to create a border around the tub surround. Coupled with antique white subway tiles. Subway tile is a luxe Italian tile with a heavy glaze. In addition, to a glossy finish. Each subway tile has a metallic or iridescent feel. Maintaining its historical Italian style. Finally, Schluter metal trim was used to nicely finish the tile edges.
An updated white shaker vanity cabinet is a perfect choice. Topped with a Granite countertop from our instock granite collection. In addition, to added granite backsplash and white oval vanity sink. As well as the floor is updated with a classic LVT. The Luxury Vinyl Tile Plank is in a medium wood tone. Overall, this refreshing bathroom remodel and will be enjoyable for years to come.

Adding a second storey to their existing home proved a family friendly alternative to buying a bigger home in Auckland’s overheated property market.

The client's did the work themselves on this on and I do say did a fabulous job. We helped them make the design choices, did the quotes, and purchasing to save them money by using our trade accounts, but they chose to general the project and get help where needed. They used our awesome tiler Jacob and were very happy to have spent the money on that portion.
The cabinets were not in budget to paint so we made choices that went well with the existing stain, but also modernized and brightened the space.
Overall, the kitchen and powder bath look brand new and the client's didn't overspend to do so!

Two family homes on Lake Tahoe needed some furniture updated to accommodate their growing family. All the furnishings are transitional to fit in with the older Tahoe Lake homes.
