The Agave City is my personal botanical garden and is an on-going project for 17 years. Mostly all of the architectural elements are left over from Archetype's vast client listing. And yet, some of the nicest pieces were refused for client's personal reasons and not the fault of the creator. The elements just keep fitting perfectly into the scheme of the garden and are samples of what can be done and how beautiful they would turn out if the clients had not gotten in the way of their own selves.

Pull out waste and recycling bins are super handy AND we can make them auto-open/close....Yep, it a tap of your hand or knee the cabinet opens so if your hands are full of refuse or recycling or just a bit dirty from chopping, just knee tap the cabinet and it opens. Knee tap again and it closes!

This small living room was overpowered by a sandstone veneer fireplace and hearth/banco. The banco was underutilized. The client, knowing I had been a cabinetmaker in a previous career, asked me to make some open shelves to sit on the banco using viga posts and rough 2" pine for shelves. It was a challenge that I couldn't refuse! I think it all works pretty well together and lends to the Southwestern feel the client was trying to achieve.

The much-prized addition to the building's renovation!! What was once a very prevalent feature in Venice's bygone days - see paintings by Canaletto and Guardi - has dwindled considerably due to the weather and refusal by the Comune to issue any new permits unless strict guidelines are met. After a lengthy review, permission was granted and the architect was able to design a new wooden structure in keeping with the historical features of the city. The wooden larch deck was handcrafted off-site, transported by boat and, with the aid of a crane, was gently hoisted into place atop new brick pylons. It fit perfectly, and now is much used for magical views over the neighborhood's canals, rooftops and bell towers!
