During this project in West Chester, PA, we embarked on a comprehensive home renovation journey, breathing new life into every space. Our meticulous craftsmanship extended from the kitchen to the master suite, ensuring each area received a tailored makeover. From installing cabinets and backsplash tiles in the kitchen to reinforcing support beams throughout the home, our attention to detail was paramount. Modernizing the powder room with new fixtures and optimizing functionality in the closet/pantry with custom cabinetry were just a few highlights. Custom touches adorned every room, including new bookshelves in the living room and reinforced support beams in the dining room. The master suite emerged as a tranquil oasis, complete with a spacious walk-in closet and luxurious master bath. Our dedication to excellence ensured a seamless transformation that exceeded our client's expectations, breathing new life and functionality into their cherished home.

One of the most transformative changes in this bathroom renovation was the introduction of a transom window where previously there had been no natural light at all. Positioned intentionally high within the space, the new window allows sunlight to flood the room while still maintaining complete privacy. The placement also creates a peaceful connection to the outdoors, offering framed views of the surrounding tall trees without compromising functionality. Designed as a shared bathroom for two children, the layout was thoughtfully planned to support both beauty and everyday practicality. Two individual shower niches were incorporated to give each child their own dedicated storage space, helping the room remain organized and personalized. Every tile line throughout the space was meticulously aligned, with refined brass Schluter edges used to frame the niches and elevate the detailing. Large-scale 24"x48" porcelain tiles were used to clad the walls, creating a seamless, expansive feeling with minimal grout lines and a luxurious stone-like appearance. Because the room features impressive 9-foot ceilings, the design utilized four full horizontal rows of tile to maintain visual balance and avoid unnecessary cuts, reinforcing the clean architectural aesthetic. To soften the scale of the large-format tile and introduce additional visual interest, a custom mosaic tile detail was added at the base of the walls, acting as a modern interpretation of a traditional baseboard profile. Crown mouldings were then added at the ceiling line, bringing a tailored architectural finish to the room and enhancing the sense of height and refinement. Even the bathtub skirt was thoughtfully paneled to feel integrated and furniture-like, reinforcing the elevated, cohesive nature of the design. Warm brass fixtures throughout add richness and contrast against the soft stone-inspired palette, creating a bathroom that feels timeless, sophisticated, and highly functional for everyday family living.

A vacant, worn office space should be transformed into a show apartment / showroom. The existing space had been used as an office structure since the 1960s. Located on the 4th floor of a ten-floor reinforced concrete skeleton, the area is already high enough to receive a great amount of light, which is particularly noticeable at dawn and dusk: sunrises and sunsets conjure up the most spellbinding blends of light. The existing structure and also the technical equipment were completely outdated and needed to be completely rebuilt: suspended ceilings were removed and walls changed. The result is a modern city apartment of almost 100 m2 (about 1,070 sqft) – divided into a large living space, 2 rooms, 1 bathroom, 1 powder room and 1 utility room. The existing window facades could not be changed, but they are part of the concept anyway, namely to bring as much light as possible into the room. A controlled ventilation system ensures optimal air quality even with closed windows. The central kitchen element serves as a kind of separation of the living area and the dining area. Here customers and guests are served, people communicate, cook together, drink a glass of wine. Clients experience living. The rough reinforced concrete ribbed slaps were uncovered and painted white to give the room more height, which is accentuated by the lighting concept with ceiling-mounted spotlights. The dark oak floor creates a successful contrast to the brightly designed rooms. The wittily positioned pedestal areas hide all technical elements, such as the supply air openings of the living room ventilation. Flush-fitting door elements in the walls with a chalked brick look show in detail the special feature of the room. The central wall elements were deliberately not pulled up to the ceiling, but are separated by a glass element to show the continuity of the construction. Most of the furniture was designed by Wolfgang Pichler. Within the course of this project he was able to implement his holistic approach in the field of construction technology, architecture and furniture design and skillfully combine it with design classics. Scandinavian classics can be found in the concept just as much as pieces he collected during his career and furniture he developed for the company VITEO, which he founded in 2002. The project illustrates the added value of an architectural holistic approach.

The RPM team reconstructed our client's weathered wooden deck just in time for summer festivities. We used WOLF Solid PVC decking, featuring ASA capstock resin for color retention under prolonged sun exposure, natural wood grain texture, and a 25 year stain and fade warranty. Decking also includes concealed stainless steel fasteners for additional support and reinforcement to the home. New vinyl rails were also installed around the perimeter of the deck and stairway, all reinforced with aluminum to prevent future sagging issues. Our team also constructed a new stairway leading from the porch for easy access to the ground level. We carried the theme of the deck by using the same WOLF PVC decking to create the stairs.

Reimagining an Urban Classic Perched high above San Francisco’s Cow Hollow neighborhood, this meticulously reimagined residence represents a thoughtful transformation of a classic urban home into a contemporary, light-filled sanctuary. The project involved a comprehensive renovation paired with both vertical and horizontal expansion, dramatically increasing the home’s footprint while enhancing its relationship to sweeping views of the Bay, the Palace of Fine Arts, and the surrounding hillside neighborhoods. The design strategy focused on opening the home to light, air, and vistas—elements often constrained in the dense urban fabric of San Francisco. By extending the structure upward and outward, the architects created a dynamic four-level residence that unfolds gradually, culminating in expansive living spaces and rooftop terraces oriented toward panoramic city and water views. Architecture that Frames the View At the heart of the design is a careful orchestration of sightlines and natural light. Large black-framed windows punctuate the façade and interior spaces, deliberately positioned to capture iconic San Francisco vistas while flooding the home with daylight. The architecture prioritizes openness, allowing rooms to flow seamlessly while maintaining a strong visual connection to the surrounding landscape. A dramatic skylight above the central stairwell anchors the vertical circulation of the home. This architectural gesture not only brings daylight deep into the interior but also reinforces the sense of spatial continuity between floors. Warm Modern Interiors Inside, the home balances architectural clarity with warm materiality. Wide-plank oak floors run throughout the residence, creating visual cohesion and grounding the interiors with natural warmth. Custom walnut millwork—integrated shelving, cabinetry, and wall panels—introduces depth and texture while complementing the clean lines of the architecture. The interiors are intentionally restrained yet richly layered. Contemporary furnishings, sculptural lighting, and curated artwork add personality while maintaining the calm, sophisticated palette that defines the home. The Social Heart of the Home The main living level serves as the social centerpiece of the residence. An open-plan kitchen, dining area, and lounge space unfold toward the view, creating an environment that feels both expansive and intimate. A sculptural marble island anchors the kitchen, functioning as both workspace and gathering hub. Surrounded by walnut cabinetry and professional-grade appliances, the kitchen merges elegance with functionality. Above, a cascading chandelier introduces a sense of vertical movement, reflecting the home’s emphasis on light and architectural rhythm. Living areas are arranged to encourage conversation and connection. Generous seating, layered rugs, and thoughtful lighting define distinct zones within the open plan while maintaining uninterrupted sightlines toward the cityscape beyond. Private Retreats Above the City Upper levels of the home are dedicated to quieter, more intimate spaces. The primary suite is conceived as a private retreat, where expansive windows frame treetop views and invite natural light throughout the day. The accompanying bathroom continues the home’s refined material palette. Marble surfaces, warm wood cabinetry, and brushed brass fixtures create a spa-like environment that balances luxury with tranquility. A gem tucked away in San Francisco’s Sea Cliff neighborhood, walking into this house is like walking on to the set of a magazine shoot. This comes as no surprise considering the design duo Cook Construction worked with to bring this home to life. ​ Our biggest challenge by far was engineering the impressive centerpiece of the kitchen; a custom-built, solid stone island with a floating cantilever slab. In order to create this effect, an internal welded steel frame was designed to reinforce the floating slab and create a free-standing illusion.

Inspiration for a rustic laundry room remodel in Houston

Saturday August 8, 9:00 to 10:30am | Denver Cranmer Park Residence by Gretchen Wilson and Laurel Raines of Dig Studio Perched on a high point of Denver’s Cranmer Park, one of the great park landmarks of the Mile-High City, this designed landscape complements and enhances the architectural aesthetic of the home; a stucco-clad Italianate mansion built in 1917 by renowned architect Jacques Benedict and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The landscape, designed and constructed in three phases over a twelve-year period from 1998 to 2010, creates a functional outdoor living space that supports the owners’ contemporary lifestyle while remaining sensitive to the original architectural vision and elegance of the home. An Italianate garden, framed by the home’s loggias and a stunning boxwood garden, reinforce the design of the historic property. In contrast, the addition of a pool house and outdoor spa area add a modern touch. A linear lap pool, fountain, patio area, basketball court, and fire pit contrast with elements of the earlier landscape, providing a relaxing private outdoor space with spectacular views of Cranmer Park, and the great Rocky Mountains that dominate the Denver skyline.
