A simple front facade consisting solely of ten-foot shuttered French doors radiates elegance in this new traditional foursquare home in Washington, D.C. Featured in Country Living magazine, the airy plan offers spaciousness in a limited-fronted site of the American foursquare house. The goal for the design was creating a contemporary foursquare style house. The family room and kitchen of this American foursquare interior are separated by a glassy built-in rather than walls, encouraging visual connection between the spaces in the four square house. Though nestled in the city, this American foursquare home feels like a classic country home.

A stunning modern farmhouse kitchen filled with exciting detail! We kept the cabinets on the traditional side, painted in pale sandy hues (reflecting the beachfront property). A glazed subway tile backsplash and newly placed skylight contrast with the detailed cabinets and create an updated look. The focal point, the rich blue kitchen island, is complemented with a dark wooden butcher block countertop, which creates a surprising burst of color and gives the entire kitchen a chic contemporary vibe. This Jack n Jill bathroom serves the guest bedroom as well as the clients young daughter. With a lot of thought we were able to get a full suite in here. The spacious shower has an adjustable head for different heights, it is tiled in 12x12 sheets of marble, the ceiling is also tiled. For the floors i chose a herringbone design to give a flow from room to room. The custom made vanity has antiqued mirrored door inserts which pick up on the star mirrored chandelier. I had been carrying this wallpaper with me from England for about 13 years! The client fell in love with it and we decided to use the little star print, it looks as though it's been there forever.
