A previous client (Big Wood Lane) reached out to us to help design a remodel of a recently purchased on the south shore of Lake Minnetonka. The home had grown organically since its original construction in 1945. It had evolved over time to accommodate the needs of its numerous owners. Our client brought a new set of needs to the home that included a desire to make the lake home a comfortable destination for family and friends. The project consisted of reconfiguring an outdated, inefficient kitchen, expansion of the bedroom wing to include individual bathrooms for bedrooms and redesign of the central stair guard rail. The redesign of the kitchen included repositioning major appliances for greater efficiency, more seating at an enlarged island, a new pantry, and expanded views to the lake. The expansion of the bedroom wing included eliminating a three-season porch on top of the garage on the inland side of the home. The space above the garage roof was enclosed and turned into dedicated bathrooms for each bedroom. These bathrooms are accessible only from the bathrooms which provide privacy and convenience to visitors.

In the primary bedroom, our focus was on creating a space that felt both elevated and comfortable with a masculine edge. We brightened the room with a dynamic abstract wallpaper mural, introducing movement and visual depth. The large existing mirror was repositioned between the windows to expand the sense of scale, making the room feel even more spacious. Leather seating and a bench add strength and richness, while the channeled upholstered bed and plush bedding soften the overall feel. Updated wood flooring, new nightstands, and a custom built-in infuse warmth and ground the space in natural elements. A plush area rug provides comfort underfoot, while woven window treatments add texture and complement the darker tones in the wallpaper. The design carefully balances black and gray tones with bright accents to maintain an airy feel. Gold finishes and mixed metals were layered throughout, tying into the home’s broader design palette. A new ceiling fan with wood-toned blades harmonizes with the natural elements and furnishings. The result is a bedroom that feels polished, grounded, and richly layered with materials and textures.

2011 NATIONAL NARI COTY SOUTHEAST REGIONAL AWARD This family of four living in a 1987 brick colonial had to make dramatic changes now that their 85 years old grandmother was about to move in. They needed a mother-in-law suite complete with bathroom facilities to meet her needs. Because they were remodeling anyway, they decided to overhaul the rest of the home to create the house they have always dreamed about, including a grand two-story entry. Starting in the basement, the homeowner added a home theatre room, added storage and a larger bathroom. Hard wood floors and a new stairway were also added. The main level boasts the new two-story entry foyer. To its left is the mother-in-law suite with a large front bay window and its own walk-in closet and private bath. The bath is furnished with a walk-in jetted tub and aging-in-place accessories. Other first floor highlights include a music room and gourmet kitchen. Kitchen amenities the client always wanted were added, including a large center island, extended cabinets, double layered crown molding, exotic granite top and wide board mahogany floors throughout entire first floor. The entire second floor and stairs going up were reconfigured too. The master bedroom is larger with a new tray ceiling and recess lights. The new walk- in closet is now adjacent to the master bath instead of being across the room. The master bathroom was totally gutted and re-positioned. It includes an enlarged shower with bench and frameless shower door, toilet hidden behind a closet and new whirlpool surround with beautiful travertine tile and long double vanity space. This new renovation is truly a testament to the possibilities of aging-in-place remodeling strategies. Three generations are now living comfortably in this home.

This Bonita Bay remodel involved a transformative process in the kitchen, dining, and living room areas. Walls were taken down to reposition the space, creating an open and more interconnected layout. This redesign enhances the flow of natural light, promotes a more spacious atmosphere, and fosters a cohesive and modern living experience.

The vanity, commode, and shower spaces in this master bath were cramped and uncomfortable. We expanded this bath within the existing square footage by using part of an exceptionally large bedroom. The window was originally in the commode compartment added to the overall dreariness of it. Walls were removed and repositioned to create a far more open feel. The vanities now provide far more storage and efficiency, not to mention beauty. And the really spectacular element we a huge shower area with 3 positions for bathing. It works well for mom and dad and their 3 teenage boys use it, as well.

This home in Napa off Silverado was rebuilt after burning down in the 2017 fires. Architect David Rulon, a former associate of Howard Backen, known for this Napa Valley industrial modern farmhouse style. Composed in mostly a neutral palette, the bones of this house are bathed in diffused natural light pouring in through the clerestory windows. Beautiful textures and the layering of pattern with a mix of materials add drama to a neutral backdrop. The homeowners are pleased with their open floor plan and fluid seating areas, which allow them to entertain large gatherings. The result is an engaging space, a personal sanctuary and a true reflection of it's owners' unique aesthetic. Inspirational features are metal fireplace surround and book cases as well as Beverage Bar shelving done by Wyatt Studio, painted inset style cabinets by Gamma, moroccan CLE tile backsplash and quartzite countertops.

A bold plan to reconfigure the downstairs layout of this beautiful home in Schenectady brought the homeowners to Bennett to collaborate with Designer, Sarah McDonald, and Project Manager, George Griffin. Removing walls between the family room, kitchen and dining room, the new kitchen was repositioned into the old dining area, with an added wet bar and coordinating dark stained island, this long run of cabinets in a warm, creamy, classic palette created a bonus entertaining zone to free up the work zone for our foodie husband. Maxed out with organizational features, this new layout transformed how the generations of this family lived. The overlarge pot-belly stove was replaced with a sleek fireplace and enlarged openings and new storage closet ensured everything had a home.

The main floor was completely reimagined. The staircase was repositioned to the middle of the home adding a beautiful architectural feature.

For this project, we were brought on to update this 1920's home and open up multiple small rooms into one great room. Some of the features incorporated with this were new pocket doors, all new flooring, lighting, cabinets, countertops, windows, backsplashes, and updated paint. Another unique way we accomplished opening up the home was by repositioning the stairway which provided more square footage in the kitchen and create a better traffic flow throughout the house. Alongside of opening up the main level, we also totally renovated both upstairs bathrooms by performing a complete gut and remodel.

Track lighting, sconces, and modern appliances added brightness, while maple flooring created warmth. Shifting to a ground-up design-build project, the JRP team worked closely with the homeowners through every step of designing, permitting, and building their new home. As avid horse owners, the redesign inspiration started with their love of rustic farmhouses and through the design process, turned into a more refined modern farmhouse reflected in the clean lines of white batten siding, and dark bronze metal roofing. Starting from scratch, the interior spaces were repositioned to take advantage of the ocean views from all the bedrooms, kitchen, and open living spaces. The kitchen features a stacked chiseled edge granite island with cement pendant fixtures and rugged concrete-look perimeter countertops. The tongue and groove ceiling is repeated on the stove hood for a perfectly coordinated style. A herringbone tile pattern lends visual contrast to the cooking area. The generous double-section kitchen sink features side-by-side faucets. Bi-fold doors and windows provide unobstructed sweeping views of the natural mountainside and ocean views. Opening the windows creates a perfect pass-through from the kitchen to outdoor entertaining. The expansive wrap-around decking creates the ideal space to gather for conversation and outdoor dining or soak in the California sunshine and the remarkable Pacific Ocean views.

Removing the long, narrow center island immediately opened up the kitchen, creating a greater sense of space. Closing off an unnecessary doorway provided additional wall area, allowing the cooktop to be repositioned and improving the kitchen’s layout and flow. The bold choice of a rich green for the cabinets gave the kitchen a striking, modern look, while still feeling balanced. The green acts as a neutral tone, complemented by calming pale oak flooring, neutral quartz countertops, and a textured backsplash in a similar hue for subtle visual interest. The redesign also introduced functional zones: a dedicated baking area designed with their daughter in mind and a bar area perfect for entertaining family and friends.
