This client came to us with a unique challenge: create a modern design that matches her fun and funky personality but to make it as "green" and chemical free as possible. We rose to the challenge, researching the best options for sustainable, green and chemical free furnishings. The upholstery pieces are made from sustainable and chemical free materials, the dining table is made of sustainable wood with a chemical free finish. The rugs are from a fair-trade company that supports education for women in India. The client had hired a Feng Shui expert to provide her with a report which we used to design the space. The wallpaper behind the living room sofa is custom designed and custom-made. It is a map made up of hundred of small photos that the homeowner provided to us. It represents the area in her home that will bring travel and connect her to the people she loves. The large, colorful art piece in the dining area is hung in the area of the home that will bring joy around family and children. The hearts and pink/red colored wallpaper in the den will evoke love and relationships. The client has a colorful, fun personality and we wanted to infuse the design with it. A white backdrop allows all of the pinks, reds, navy blues and turquoises to pop, creating a lively, modern feeling. The textures in the floor and wall coverings and in the fabrics create a lived in, collected feeling and add a touch of bohemian chic style. The new modern cable and walnut stair banister is in keeping with the original modern feel of the row house and keeps the narrow staircase from feeling tight and closed in. This was a fun, creative and unique project for us. This particular client was one of Olamar's first clients eight years ago when we first opened our doors. At that time the house was nothing but a condemned shell that the client renovated, with our assistance. A clean, organized workplace is a productive workplace. So when sales representative Randy Kirchof was researching how to furnish his new home office, he knew it had to do a lot more than just look good. His former home office furnishings were not only unsuitable for a thriving home-based business, they didn't work with each other, either. "My old home office had a mismatch of furniture," Randy says. "When we built our new house, I decided I was going to do it right. That meant outfitting my office with Lista cabinets." A solid choice. Randy's office now contains a bank of Lista drawer storage cabinets, which stand a short chair-roll from his Lista desk, and fit nicely against the short vertical wall space that meets a sloping ceiling. The drawers' sharp black finish adds a clean contrast to the office's primarily white surroundings. The desk is comprised of two Lista cabinet pedestals, each of which flanks a sizable window that overlooks the passing seasons. A solid worktop bridges the space between the two cabinets, creating a spacious desk surface that not only maintains the aesthetic feel of the surroundings, but also enhances the space's durable functionality - features that are certainly not lost on Randy. "Most file cabinets are rickety pieces of junk," he says. "Lista's are really solid." It's an impression that seems to be shared by visitors as well. "Lista stuff works perfectly in a home environment. Everyone who comes up to see the office is blown away."

Set on 88th Street in Manhattan's Upper East Side, this four-bedroom residence was created by merging two separate condominium units into a single, cohesive luxury home. The result is a sprawling, artful space defined by confidence, color, and a deeply personal design vocabulary. The project represents a full-service interior design engagement: spatial planning, material selection, furniture sourcing, artwork curation, and complete project coordination. Nearly every element was specified and placed by Mazen Designs, with furnishings sourced largely through Roche Bobois. The home unfolds from a striking cross-shaped hallway anchored by a custom T-shaped rug that guides movement through the space. To one side, the primary bedroom suite. To the other, a flexible home office that doubles as a guest suite, and a tranquil secondary bedroom. Straight ahead, a streamlined kitchen opens to a formal dining area and beyond that, a dedicated media and Mah Jong room designed for relaxed gathering. The palette balances jewel tones with crisp whites and greys. Bold in intention but disciplined in execution. A Maya Romanoff wall covering and curated artwork complete the layering of texture, light, and silhouette throughout. The clients arrived hesitant toward color. Appliances included: two gas cooktops, one full surface induction cooktop, a Teppan Yaki, a convection oven, a steam oven, a speed oven, warming and vacuum drawers, refrigeration, dishwashers, and a tall 24” wine cooler.⁠ ⁠ ?? 4-ft sink workstation and 2-ft bar workstation by The Galley, also in stainless steel with anthracite accessories. ⁠ ⁠ ?? Tall cabinets in metal framed glass provide a sophisticated display for the client’s crystals and stemware collection. ⁠ ⁠ Included in the remodel were the foyer and the fireplace lounge area that sits opposite the kitchen. For the fireplace, the Yota Rovere Station cabinets, custom bronze paneling, and open-shelf niches created the ideal spot for the client’s Richard MacDonald sculptures. Lighting skillfully blended into the wood and metalwork turn the spotlight on these beautiful pieces!⁠

Designing our 3rd home for this long-standing client was a real treat when she moved to a big, bright, newly built home in Celina. Being entrusted with every aspect from the floor to the ceiling, down to the last accessory we filled this home with color, comfort and casual elegance. The client was ready for some out of the box thinking and more progressive design ideas from where she’d been in the past. The moody media room, jewel box home office and color pops in the family room exemplify how a home can evoke many different emotions and represent all of the different styles that appeal to her. The backyard is now a relaxing paradise with covered lounging space, an expansive pool, a putting green and a firepit area for intimate fireside chats. Home is now the haven the client anticipated we would create for her and told us she has to sometimes pinch herself to remind her that all this is really hers!
