“Our main three design wishes were to incorporate an efficient use of space, keen aesthetics and an overall ease of use,” Ashwin says. Specifically, the kitchen was solely for cooking and while they did not rely on design Web sites for examples of kitchen designs, they did do their research during the design process. So, while the couple knew exactly what they wanted with their IKEA kitchen, they also knew that working with design professionals like IKD and a professional installer would make a huge difference. “We’d done our research and read horror stories online about installers stopping work midway through a project,” Ashwin explains. Well, that certainly wasn’t the case here! As the couple reports their experience with the installer was excellent. As was their experience with IKD’s designers who guided them through the design and the IKEA product selection process.

This was a down to the studs interior remodel of a historic home in Boise's North End. Through an extensive Design Phase we opened up the living spaces, relocated and rearranged bathrooms, re-designed the mail level to include an Owner's Suite, and added living space in the attic. The major objective of this home was to craft something entirely unique; based on our client’s international travels, and tailored to their ideal lifestyle. Every detail, selection and method was individual to this project. The design included personal touches like a dog shower for their Great Dane, a bar downstairs to entertain, and a TV tucked away in the den instead of on display in the living room. Great design doesn’t just happen. It’s a product of work, thought and exploration. For our clients, they looked to hotels they love in New York and Croatia, Danish design, and buildings that are architecturally artistic and ideal for displaying art. Our part was to take these ideas and actually build them. Every door knob, hinge, material, color, etc. was meticulously researched and crafted. Most of the selections are custom built either by us, or by hired craftsman.

Natural, calm, family-centered. This client knew what she wanted and just needed some assistance getting there. Susan helped her out with imagery and product research, a first floor furniture plan and several working meetings to nail down the built-in functionality and look in the dining-room-turned-office/family drop-zone. Cork floors installed throughout give the home a warm and eco-friendly foundation. Pine-cones, tree trunk cookies, plants and lots of unstained wood make the family's focus on nature clear. This home was built in the late 1790's as a typical Virginia farmhouse. They purchased the home about 6 years ago with a dream of making it their own with personal, authentic details. Those they could not skimp on. After researching to find that we (Timberlane Inc) makes custom, functional shutters they took it to their advantage and built their own set of shutters painted with a custom color and personalized with a custom cut-out. They know that not another home has the same exact shutters as they do, and that makes our home unique.
