We love the night and day transformation this garden took on when our client requested a zen garden for her backyard in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. It’s always fun to be asked to design a garden with so many charming creative elements. Our re-design included brown bamboo fencing to cover a very bright white vinyl fence, a fountain, loose grey stones, dark brown deck tiles, contemporary furnishings, a stone Japanese lantern statue, and white fiberglass planters. The plantings include cherry laurels, bamboo, a red weeping maple, moss, grasses, and variegated euonymus. Overhead globe lights add a cheerful nighttime touch. In a few years when the Kentia palms reach a good height the Queen palms can be removed. Two of these were already on site and retained to provide height and sense of maturity. Within this modest sized yard there are multiple built in amenities : Cooking and Outdoor Dining / Bar space , Communal Fire Pit and relaxation area , Thematic Fountains in two separate zones , Combination Raised Patio Area with Contemporary Style Open Beam Structure , Presenting a perfect mixed use space for entertaining , in addition to the custom hardscape elements , This yard also showcases a harmonious plant palette with generous space to mature and embrace the permanent build in venues.

Today, almost any activity you enjoy inside your home you can bring to the outside. Depending on your budget, your outdoor room can be simple, with a stamped concrete patio, a grill and a table for dining, or more elaborate with a fully functional outdoor kitchen complete with concrete countertops for preparing and serving food, a sink and a refrigerator. You can take the concept even further by adding such amenities as a concrete pizza oven, a fireplace or fire-pit, a concrete bar-top for serving cocktails, an architectural concrete fountain, landscape lighting and concrete statuary.
