THEME The overall theme for this
space is a functional, family friendly
escape where time spent together
or alone is comfortable and exciting.
The integration of the work space,
clubhouse and family entertainment
area creates an environment that
brings the whole family together in
projects, recreation and relaxation.
Each element works harmoniously
together blending the creative and
functional into the perfect family
escape.
FOCUS The two-story clubhouse is
the focal point of the large space and
physically separates but blends the two
distinct rooms. The clubhouse has an
upper level loft overlooking the main
room and a lower enclosed space with
windows looking out into the playroom
and work room. There was a financial
focus for this creative space and the
use of many Ikea products helped to
keep the fabrication and build costs
within budget.
STORAGE Storage is abundant for this
family on the walls, in the cabinets and
even in the floor. The massive built in
cabinets are home to the television
and gaming consoles and the custom
designed peg walls create additional
shelving that can be continually
transformed to accommodate new or
shifting passions. The raised floor is
the base for the clubhouse and fort
but when pulled up, the flush mounted
floor pieces reveal large open storage
perfect for toys to be brushed into
hiding.
GROWTH The entire space is designed
to be fun and you never outgrow
fun. The clubhouse and loft will be a
focus for these boys for years and the
media area will draw the family to
this space whether they are watching
their favorite animated movie or
newest adventure series. The adjoining
workroom provides the perfect arts and
crafts area with moving storage table
and will be well suited for homework
and science fair projects.
SAFETY The desire to climb, jump,
run, and swing is encouraged in this
great space and the attention to detail
ensures that they will be safe. From
the strong cargo netting enclosing
the upper level of the clubhouse to
the added care taken with the lumber
to ensure a soft clean feel without
splintering and the extra wide borders
in the flush mounted floor storage, this
space is designed to provide this family
with a fun and safe space.

This eclectic bedroom has a fresh clean feel because of the white bedding and light paint color. All the furniture pieces are different in wood tone and style which make this room eclectic. The custom headboard has square tufts adding a more modern style to the usual "traditional" diamond tufts.

Laura chose a tortoise print fabric for the sitting room chairs by the piano, which were repurposed. The fabric line is from Spain and was used to incorporate an island theme in the small space.

THEME The sheer delight of the merrygo-
round — an enduring symbol of
childhood — is captured in this beautiful
room dedicated to the carousel. The
ageless joy and beauty of a classic
carousel creates a magical space where
anything seems possible.
FOCUS Designed for two special twins,
the actual carousel in the room stands
almost 14-feet tall and eight-and-a-half
feet wide to hold two baby cribs. Two
hand-painted carousel horses (that
are also reproduced in framed photos
above the changing tables) complete
the authentic look. Window treatments
start at the center of the carousel with
fabric that arches out to each window
to pull together the entire room. Custom
fabrics are used throughout the space,
and the entrance to the attic within the
room is disguised with an oversized,
vintage amusement park ticket. A
television is framed on the wall with
a monkey on top to ensure that even
modern items have a vintage feel.
STORAGE An 18-foot by 12-foot wall
of letter blocks creates an abstract
armoire that provides storage for
clothes, toys, books and other items.
The center blocks create a bench seat
along the wall, while freestanding
blocks within the room help add to the
illusion that all of the blocks in the room
are actually stacked.
GROWTH The wall armoire can be
easily updated to accommodate
growing children by removing the
letters and repainting the blocks in
another style.
SAFETY Everything in the room is
secure, but if accidental falls or slips
do occur, the floor has been custom
made to be soft and safe. Twofoot
square floor pads created with
Medium Density Fiber board and two
layers of carpet padding with fabric
over top, cover the floor to create the
feel of walking on pillows.

Designed by Interior Designer, A. Lantz Design, this Lake Charlevoix project was featured on the cover of Traditional Home magazine!
This incredible guest bedroom has the most remarkable views of Lake Charlevoix and allows for one to open the bi-folding glass doors to head out to their private patio to enjoy sunrises and sunsets on the water.
A stunning original painting by Barry Lantz is hung above the bed giving a nod to the beautiful lake sceneries. The custom bedding matches the drapery and a cozy blue plaid rug anchors the space. Lots of nautical colors used in this bedroom to tie into the rest of the nautical home theme.

This kitchen nook is beyond cute with a splash of style. The fabrics used on the cushions are exotic and pull in the culture presented by the woven chair.

Casual dining on the terrace provides spectacular views of the Inner Harbor. Indoor/outdoor fabrics are impervious to the elements.

A two-story restaurant and bar in the heart of Rochester Hills approached Horizon Interior Design with an exciting design brief to pay homage to the American-style food they served with a 1940's retro redesign.
The new tenants had some great ideas for fresh paint, décor, a mural of a vintage plane, and a female pilot in a pinup style reminiscent of the 1940s. They wanted to keep their flooring and furnishings as is, challenging us to create a harmonious design while incorporating what they already had.
Using vintage magazines, newspapers, and posters from the 1940s, as well as replicas of old décor and wall art, we brought the 40's back to this commercial restaurant's interior design! Adding deep red and white accents to the navy blue walls created a patriotic feel, while a hand-painted distressed American flag hung over the bar for that extra touch of 40's magic.
We painted a magnificent wall mural of a jet and pilot, applied shiplap to the front of the bar and an accent wall, and then decorated it with vintage tin signs from the 1940's. We installed luxurious vintage-style chandeliers on both floors, illuminated with Edison bulbs to warm up the dining areas and bring a sense of grandeur to the space. Upon completion, walking into the restaurant felt like being transported back to this beautiful decade, attracting clientele to experience something special.
