This home's owners are reverse snowbirds who love birding. They bought this home for the wooded lot but unfortunately couldn't see much from the inside. The home was dated throughout so there wasn’t a surface in this house left untouched. Besides all walls, ceilings, and floors being addressed, projects included three bath remodels and stairway railing replacement. But, the story became the kitchen where we combined it with the formal dining room and changed the orientation to add large windows towards the trees. Now the house feels like a tree house.

Special LED light strips are integrated into the bottom of the upper cabinet and into the bottoms of the floating shelves. The low-divide sink, which allows for easier washing of large roasting pans, etc, is a nice compromise for those uncomfortable with a single bowl sink. The pneumatic disposal button eleminates the need for a wall switch in our beautiful new backsplash. The main faucet has a pull-out spout, and the smaller faucet to the right is the dispenser for the Culligan reverse-osmosis water system, providing crystal-clear purified water ther and to the refrigerator. The backsplash tile is by Emser.

In this master bathroom, we installed Medallion Oak Cabinetry in the Devonshire Reversed Raised Panel Door, Modern Overlay in Cottage White Sheer accented with Crystal bracelet pull and round knobs with Cambria Quartz countertop in Summerhill color. Also installed is an Idell Scalloped decorative 32”x23 ½” mirror. Delta deco accessories in chrome from the Cassidy collection includes one towel ring, one paper holder, two robe hooks, and one 24’ towel bar. A Riona Oval Vessel sink in White and a Delta Cassidy Lavatory Faucet in Chrome was installed. Installed on the walls is 3x6 Arctic White Beveled Gloss tile with an accent of 3x6 Beveled Mirror tiles. A Barclay tub/shower converto unit, shower ring, shower head in chrome with white porcelain accents. On the floor, American Olean Creekwood 6x36 tiles in Walnut Brook color with ditra underlayment setting materials.

Greenfield Cabinetry Hancock door style with reverse raised panel in Chalk painted finish were installed in this kitchen. Amenities included are: roll-out trays, drawers, double wastebasket cabinet, tray dividers, pantry pull-out, diagonal super susan, and peg drawer inserts. MSI Calacatta Laza Quartz with ¼” double roundover edge are installed in the kitchen and desk area. The tile backsplash is Craft II White Gloss 3x12 tile on the range and sink walls. A Blanco Precis double bowl kitchen sink with 1-3/4” low divide in white with a Moen Arbor U faucet with pull-down spray. A new Andersen 400 Series window was installed in the kitchen. In the kitchen pantry, custom ¾” birch plywood shelving was installed. Three custom floating shelves were installed over the desk area. Daroca 12x24” Atar tile was installed on the floor.

A 5’ Galley Workstation with Bamboo Accessories was installed in the island. The countertop is Cambria Britannica Quartz. The backsplash is Crossville 3x12 Handwritten Series in Post Card color. Also installed is an XO Ventilation 42” Chimney Style Hood.

The layout and feel of the old kitchen wasn't working for these homeowners. We transitioned this kitchen from traditional with awkward layout to a bright modern space with traditional touches. The island was squared up and got more counter seating. We moved the sink and range top for a better work triangle. The space now has better flow and storage with a built in pantry and larger cabinets. They also got display areas with a built in hutch. The shower consists of a heavy swing door enclosure with polished nickel edging. Kohler Ladena undermount sinks in white, Cimarron comfort height toilet, Kohler Riff collection in polished nickel include: 2 wide-spread faucets, floor-mount bath filler with handshower, double robe hooks, pivoting toilet paper holder, towel bars and rings. Kohler polished nickel slidebar with square escutcheons, round two-function handshower. Hibiscus 67” freestanding oval acrylic tub finished in white. Custom poplar smooth beams were installed on the ceiling. Pella Encompass vinyl window.

The house originates from 1930 and is in Spanish Revival architectural style predominately. Many arches have been placed throughout the mostly open space interior. The last kitchen remodel has took place in 1988 and is in true conflict with the original architectural style. The 2021-22 major remodel had to reverse the 1988 damage and further enhance the homey Spanish feel while be brought up to the contemporary cooking functionality.

Over the Island is SoCo Mini Canopy Light Fixture with 3 canopies and SoCo modern socket pendant in black. The chandelier is Rejuvenation Williamette 24” Fluted Glass with Oiled Rubbed Bronze finish.
