LiLu Interiors joined a team of industry professionals to pioneer a net zero energy consumption home in Minnesota. And together, they have made efficiency and sustainability feel right at home. The stunning creation of this client’s dream into reality harnesses more than enough electricity to sustain an entire residence, while also powering two vehicles. Not only is the home energy efficient, all finish and furnishing selections—along with plumbing, lighting, and hardware—were chosen with a conscious effort toward conservation, aging in place, and providing a healthy living environment. We were invited to participate in the 2019 Miami Designer Showhouse for Miami Life magazine. Our team designed the master suite including the master bedroom, bathroom, and connecting hallway. We gave both spaces a bohemian, natural, and sophisticated feel. The focal point of the master bedroom is the 6ft mirror hung on the wall next to the bed. It is a breathtaking design feature, and it makes the room feel larger. To make sure that the room feels completely bespoke, we worked with a local wood fabricator to make an accent wall out of angled wood pieces that were painted the same color as the surrounding room. This accent wall is right at the entrance to the master suite, so it sets the tone for a unique and gorgeous space. In the bathroom, we created an oasis by wrapping the entire space in tile and accenting it with bronze finishes in the mirrors and light fixtures. --- Project designed by Miami interior designer Margarita Bravo. Our client came to us needing help with finding the right design that would match her personality as well as cohesively bring together her traditional and contemporary pieces. For this project, we focused on merging her design styles together through new and custom textiles and fabrics as well as layering textures. Reupholstering furniture, adding custom throw pillows, and displaying her traditional art collection (mixed in with some newer, contemporary pieces we picked out) was the key to bringing our client's unique style together. Quarter round display racks take advantage of even the smallest spaces a residential wine cellar Chicago, Illinois, has to offer. Shown here, a quarter round display rack was used to create a seamless transition from rack to rack. The quarter round display rack is a nice place to showcase wines, wine accessories and the like. Niche size racks, a high reveal display row, and horizontal display racks can also be seen. The high reveal display row is illuminated by the LED lighting system, which is known for its low heat emission and longer lifespan. This seating group includes a painting of the Reception in Richmond honoring the Marquis de Lafayette. Lafayette's portrait is to the right of the painting. A new Williamsburg Lord Dunmore tea table is a reproduction of one which was used in the Governor's Palace in Williamsburg in colonial times. A tilt top table with birdcage mechanism on the right, and the Pembroke table on the left, now allow the lamps to be at the same height. With the talller tables, and a new Martha Washington armchair, the very tall wing chair now seems to be the perfect height for the space. All upholstery was either reupholstered or cleaned. Four new custom pillows were fabricated out of two old ones, by adding the navy blue velvet "frame" around the print, and new trims. An new oriental rug rests on the refinished hardwood floor. Walls, trim and ceilings were repainted in stronger colors, for greater contrast. The parameters of the project included retaining the existing window treatments, but they were taken down, cleaned and reinstalled after the room was repainted. They needed a full-cycle interior design studio like ours to take on this project while they were in transit to Montecito. The scope was the complete renovation and facelift of the kitchen, powder room, master bedroom, master bathroom, guest suites, basement, and outdoor areas. Our clients wanted to bring warm tones such as orange and red throughout the 4-story Montecito townhome. They were open to discovering and implementing different interior design ideas in each section of the house. The wall between the kitchen and dining room was opened for connectivity between the spaces. The new L-shaped quartzite countertop provides an option for informal dining.
