We were invited to participate in the 2019 Miami Designer Showhouse for Miami Life magazine. Our team designed the master suite including the master bedroom, bathroom, and connecting hallway. We gave both spaces a bohemian, natural, and sophisticated feel. The focal point of the master bedroom is the 6ft mirror hung on the wall next to the bed. It is a breathtaking design feature, and it makes the room feel larger. To make sure that the room feels completely bespoke, we worked with a local wood fabricator to make an accent wall out of angled wood pieces that were painted the same color as the surrounding room. This accent wall is right at the entrance to the master suite, so it sets the tone for a unique and gorgeous space. This spacious contemporary kitchen is beautiful and functional. The gray and white color palette continues into this area, as the kitchen features bright white cabinets and counters as well as a dark gray island. The showstopper is the wooden ceiling accent, which is placed right above the kitchen island. A unique touch that ties really anchors down the entire design of the home. We made sure that the counters could be left clutter-free by integrating appliance shelving, such as for the microwave. We developed a beautiful stone fireplace, molding detail with inset wall covering, the right furniture placement, paint, and accessories to liven up this room! An eclectic, modern media room with bold accents of black metals, natural woods, and terra cotta tile floors. We wanted to design a fresh and modern hangout spot for these clients, whether they’re hosting friends or watching the game, this entertainment room had to fit every occasion. We designed a full home bar, which looks dashing right next to the wooden accent wall and foosball table. The sitting area is full of luxe seating, with a large gray sofa and warm brown leather arm chairs. Additional seating was snuck in via black metal chairs that fit seamlessly into the built-in desk and sideboard table (behind the sofa).... In total, there is plenty of seats for a large party, which is exactly what our client needed. Lastly, we updated the french doors with a chic, modern black trim, a small detail that offered an instant pick-me-up. The black trim also looks effortless against the black accents. Designed by Sara Barney’s BANDD DESIGN, who are based in Austin, Texas and serving throughout Round Rock, Lake Travis, West Lake Hills, and Tarrytown. This is a super modern townhome with original pale tones, mainly a white canvas. Our sophisticated and well-traveled out-of-town clients purchased this townhome right in the middle of the pandemic. They needed a full-cycle interior design studio like ours to take on this project while they were in transit to Montecito. The scope was the complete renovation and facelift of the kitchen, powder room, master bedroom, master bathroom, guest suites, basement, and outdoor areas. Our clients wanted to bring warm tones such as orange and red throughout the 4-story Montecito townhome. They were open to discovering and implementing different interior design ideas in each section of the house. This project also features our SORELLA furniture pieces made exclusively by hand in Portugal and shipped to our clients in Montecito. White floors can be challenging to use, but when pulled off correctly are extremely rewarding. An instant statement-maker, they often present the challenge of maintenance. For Nordland, we specifically created a slightly weathered pattern with darker knots, so that they do not reveal dirt as quickly. The most important specification for determining the durability of vinyl flooring is the thickness of the wear-layer. The best wear-layers are made of thick, clear virgin PVC, which covers the paper print-film that gives the floor its unique appearance. Once the wear-layer wears through, the paper is damaged and the floor will need replacement. Most vinyl floors come with a 8-12 mil wear-layer (0.2-3 mm). The top commercial specs in the industry are higher, at 20-22 mil (0.5 mm). A select few manufacturers offer a “super” commercial spec of 28 mil (0.7 mm). For Modin, we decided to set a new standard: 40 mil (1.0 mm) of premium virgin PVC. This allows us to offer an industry-leading 20 year Commercial Warranty (Lifetime Residential), compared to nearly all other commercial vinyl floors’ 10 year Commercial Warranty. Beyond our superior wear-layer, we also use a patented click mechanism for superior hold, and a ceramic-bead coating. SIZE MATTERS Wider and longer planks create a sense of space and luxury. Most vinyl floors come in 6” or 7” widths, and 36” or 48” lengths. For Modin, we designed our planks to be 9” wide, and 60” long. This extra large size allows our gorgeous designs to be fully expressed. DETAILS THAT COUNT We made sure to get all the details right. Real texture, to create the feel of wire-brushed wood. Low sheen level, to ensure a natural look that wears well over time. 4-sided bevels, to more accurately emulate the look of real planks. LiLu Interiors joined a team of industry professionals to pioneer a net zero energy consumption home in Minnesota. And together, they have made efficiency and sustainability feel right at home. The stunning creation of this client’s dream into reality harnesses more than enough electricity to sustain an entire residence, while also powering two vehicles. Not only is the home energy efficient, all finish and furnishing selections—along with plumbing, lighting, and hardware—were chosen with a conscious effort toward conservation, aging in place, and providing a healthy living environment.
