In the residential periphery of Lisbon, two physicians are establishing a home to grow their family. The original interior was conscientiously updated to serve as a pristine haven for the pair of professionals with busy schedules. Neutral walls, left bare to the interplay between light and shadow, are humanized by a verdant leitmotif inspired by their love of outdoor travel. Custom furniture from local craftsmen features simple volumes in wood and white tones that evoke a sense of both the natural and the minimal. Robust yet luxurious, child- and pet-friendly materials dress the interior. The kitchen and dining room were united into one open entertaining space at the heart of the home. Composite countertops chosen to match the existing stone window sills allot ample workspace and serve as a buffet for the adjacent dining room. There, a custom-crafted table and floating shelf provide a neutral canvas for soirées, while mid-century chairs and a dry floral arrangement by a local ikebana artist add a spray of color. The kitchen entrance was transformed into a virescent, multi-purpose pantry corridor, complete with integrated refrigerator and freezer. A corner niche in the foyer features the ceramic sculpture Gato Assanhado (Hissing Cat) by Bordallo Pinheiro, and a bespoke mirror reflects upon double doors to a living room configured for both work and relaxation; a tailored desk and drawer unit support the former, an ample couch and welcoming armchairs the latter. Azenco, renowned for its expertise, collaborated with its regional dealer, Concrete Outdoor Living, to conceive a sophisticated patio design. This design incorporates an elegant pergola system equipped with an adjustable roof mechanism. This innovative feature allows for the creation of shade during the warmer months, effective rain shielding, and the capacity to withstand winter snow. Considering the flashy nature and the innovative designs that rustic contemporary houses are sporting of late, it really is not easy to fabricate a home that can showcase a mountain rustic look with just the right touch of contemporary. Yet, this bold design, is really something ‘different' and the moment you lay your eyes on it, you cannot but help fall in love with its well-defined plan, sleek look, amazing use of natural stone and integration of BC fir and raw metal into the structure. This house is a direct design response to site, form and utility of building material, which combine to create a solid, robust structure. Disclosure of the stone work, expansive art glass windows and timber frame accents creates a visual impact. The front entry and facade is aligned with the midday sun. The long side of the triple garage act as a retaining wall. Inside this house, rooms slide into each other, dissolving the problem of further enclosure. The plan is unrestricted by the geometry and a sense of infinite space is achieved. Materials are reduced to a palette of metal, concrete, glass and timber, underpinning the desire for a rustic but still contemporary home to be basic and creating an embedded modesty.

Each unit of this 5 unit condominium has deeded rights to landscape their own small space. Our clients turned to us for help maximizing and upgrading their allotted outdoor turf. Our design eliminates an awkwardly elevated deck and small sunken patio, replaced with a simple patio. The raised level and curved front create a strong overlook of the dock and Lake Champlain. The robust dimensions of the capstone create a strong edge between the architectural patio and the natural plantings and distant views. Stone stairs lead into the house as well as toward the dock and perimeter landscaping. Shade tolerant perennials and groundcovers adorn the beds created by the sloping landscape. Working alongside the extraordinary Sovereign Grace team—and in collaboration with Authentic Carpentry—NILES handled sound reduction, audio integration, and all acoustic treatment design and installation. The facility features a full Control Room, a spacious Live Room, and a large Isolation Booth engineered for dry drum capture or vocal tracking during full-band sessions. Each space was crafted for accuracy, clarity, and intuitive workflow, ensuring that engineers and artists can move seamlessly between rooms without breaking creative momentum. Clear sightlines, generous lighting, and intentional layout choices make the studio equally suited for recording and video production. Every room is wired for a plug-and-play workflow, supporting multi-camera shoots, ensemble tracking, and efficient session flow. Behind the aesthetic, the acoustic infrastructure is highly robust. The Control Room, Live Room, and ISO Booth sit on independent floor systems with tailored sound-reducing wall assemblies and strategic treatments throughout. No suite is mechanically bonded, allowing simultaneous use of all rooms with minimal sound transmission. Monitoring in the Control Room centers around PMC 6-2 loudspeakers, precisely tuned to ensure accurate translation from mix position to the final master. The result is a balanced, inviting, and technically exact environment—built to serve the diverse creative needs of Sovereign Grace Music for years to come.

The client envisioned a contemporary kitchen that maximised practicality while incorporating a striking island. To achieve the desired look, we selected the Nolte Lux range with integrated MatrixArt handleless trims for a sleek and seamless appearance. Finished in Gloss White, the cabinetry is paired with Beton Concrete accents, creating a balanced mix of light and texture for a truly sophisticated feel. The worktops, also by Nolte, feature a robust 40mm Concrete design, adding to the industrial yet refined charm of the space. High-performance NEFF appliances were chosen to ensure the kitchen meets the demands of modern living. These include two Slide&Hide single ovens, a vented induction hob with an integrated extractor, and essential built-in appliances such as a fridge freezer and dishwasher. A Blanco Zia sink in Anthracite was paired with a Quooker Fusion Square tap in a Chrome finish, offering instant boiling water for added convenience. To enhance the flow of the home, a structural wall was removed, opening the kitchen into the conservatory and creating a spacious living area ideal for family gatherings and shared meals. The multifunctional island serves as a focal point, combining a cooking zone, washing-up area, and informal dining space. Tall units were meticulously designed to extend to the ceiling, incorporating a goal post niche for added storage and visual interest.
