Ulrich designer: Bonnie Hufnagel, CKD Photography by Peter Rymwid This rustic kitchen was designed to support the look of the original house (the first house built in Awosting, Hewitt, NJ approx. 1800's) with products inspired by nature and to bring the outdoors in. We used distressed pine cabinets in a warm sunny color. Brown glazing detail added a sophistication and kept the overall look from being too rustic. The countertops were done in "Black Morgan" granite, named for its river rock look. The tile backsplash gives the appearance of farmhouse stones, completing the outdoorsy look, but is actually a non-porous man-made material for easy maintenance. The flooring has the appearance of old antique planks, and runs throughout the first floor. It is Mannington's Revolutions laminate floor in Butterscotch color.

A colonial waterfront home in Mamaroneck was renovated to add this expansive, light filled kitchen with a rustic modern vibe. Solid maple cabinetry with inset slab doors color matched to Benjamin Moore Super White. Brick backsplash with white cabinetry adds warmth to the cool tones in this kitchen. A rift sawn oak island features plank style doors and drawers is a rustic contrast to the clean white perimeter cabinetry. Perimeter countertops in Caesarstone are complimented by the White Macauba island top with mitered edge. Concrete look porcelain tiles are low maintenance and sleek. For this beautiful kitchen remodel the homeowners wanted a better layout of the kitchen. We rearranged a few cabinets and closed off a wall to the dining room and added a new opening into the kitchen from the hallway. We refaced the existing cabinets with a Walzcraft Shaker 2 ½ Stiles and Rails door. The island was done in Alder in a custom stain while the rest of the kitchen was done in Maple in Pearl. We also added a custom appliance garage in one corner. We then installed a Granite countertop in African Rainbow and a Picket Fence Marble backsplash. With added lighting, installation of new lighting fixtures, ceiling clad with shiplap and the contrasting crown, this kitchen got a huge transformation.
