Who wouldn’t feel at home in this beautiful eat-in kitchen? The open layout, classy white cabinets, and the sunshine streaming through the window combine to form a kitchen that’s functional and welcoming—the kind where you can easily imagine the delightful odors of fresh herbs and fragrant spices mingling with the laughter and chatter of friends and family. A closer look reveals a number of design ideas that might be useful if you’re looking to create a similar ambiance in your own home.
This design takes advantage of natural sunlight by pairing a large window with a light color scheme that makes the space bright and airy. No detail has been overlooked, as evidenced by the glass hexagon backsplash that serves as an accent. The interlocking glass tiles create a lovely pattern of varying neutral tones that gives just the right amount of energy to the space. The cabinets are equally as tasteful, finished with an elegant crown molding. The gray cabinet island with white cabinets creates a stylish two-tone look and adds a splash of contrast, and the spacious island includes both an impressive cooktop and a bar—adding more seating and extra workspace.
Of course, the countertop is an essential part of any kitchen, but it’s especially important to choose the right one in a design that includes such a large work surface. The kitchen countertop has to look good—after all, it’s the element that ties the rest of the design together—but it also needs to be a functional surface that can handle the tomato sauce or red wine spill, whatever might be on the kids’ sticky fingers, and the wear and tear of everyday use. A quartz kitchen, like this one, doesn’t have to sacrifice its looks to be practical. This luxurious white quartz countertop with delicate, swirling gray veins ties the color palette together and glitters in the sun—but it’s also a durable work space. The engineered stone used here is a Calacatta Verona Quartz, one of many choices that Sky Marble offers as part of our extensive quartz selection. Calacatta Verona Quartz has all the classic beauty of marble, doesn’t require ongoing maintenance, and can stand up to many, many years of family dinners or cocktail parties. And it’s an excellent choice for this kitchen’s color scheme, maximizing the natural lighting and seamlessly uniting the gray of the island and the white of the other cabinets.
Altogether, this contemporary kitchen style strikes the perfect balance between elegance and warmth. At Sky Marble in Sterling, VA, we can help you find just the right look to make your kitchen ideas for make your new build or renovation project a similar success.

I was hired to update this condo, working around the existing countertops as they were something the owner didn't want to replace. I selected a paint color for the cabinetry, feeling like the cherry cabinets just didn't fit in this space, nor did they seem to be the right compliment to the existing granite. I hired Haven Finishing Studio to work their magic and transform the cabinets into what looks like a brand new kitchen! They did beautiful work!!! Removed the outdated backsplash and replaced it with a metallic back painted glass subway tile. Removed track lighting in the kitchen and living room and replaced with vintage industrial modern lighting. So excited to have this opportunity in downtown GR, hoping for a lot more opportunities like this!!!

This eclectic kitchen design in Mission Viejo-Lake View brings light into the space through a large window, which is then beautifully reflected in the mirror paneled pantry doors. The mirrors add depth and light to the space, giving the kitchen a bright, airy feel. Glass pendant lights, recessed lighting, and under- and in-cabinet lights complete the multi-layered lighting design.
The Columbia Cabinetry recessed panel kitchen cabinets bring a traditional foundation to the kitchen design. White perimeter cabinetry includes glass front upper cabinets with in cabinet lighting, offering the perfect place to display dishes and glassware. This is beautifully contrasted by gray island cabinetry, all accented by Top Knobs cabinet hardware. The island incorporates seating for casual dining and an angled undercounter power strip.
A white engineered quartz countertop is a stylish and practical complement to the cabinetry. The white and gray theme carries through in the marble backsplash, which brings the natural texture and color of this material to the design. A porcelain tile wood look floor brings warmth to the color scheme, in a durable and easy to maintain material.
Stainless steel appliances feature throughout the design, including the LG refrigerator and range, Sharp microwave drawer, and Zephyr chimney vent hood. A backsplash tile feature design adds a focal point above the range. The beverage center incorporates a Zephyr wine refrigerator. An Allia by Rohl white fireclay undermount sink is positioned facing the large kitchen window that overlooks a stunning view and is accompanied by a pull-down sprayer faucet.
This Mission Viejo-Lake View kitchen design brings together materials, textures, lighting, and complementary colors to create a stunning space. This kitchen is sure to be the center of life in the home, perfect for daily family life, casual dining, sipping a glass of wine while enjoying the view, and entertaining friends.

The owners of this contemporary home wanted a sleek and stylish space that was practical for their everyday lifestyle. By installing White Macaubas honed quartzite countertops, they were able to obtain the look of white marble without its porous qualities and maintenance. The island with its box miter edge detail and waterfall sides is truly the focal point of this kitchen. Their shimmering glass tile backsplash and stainless steel farmhouse sink add to the updated modern design.

Custom built wormy chestnut cabinetry in the Kitchen was made from lumber harvested from the property. Cabinetry was topped with Vermont Soapstone countertops and handmade Pratt and Larson tile backsplash. Painted beadboard backsplash serves as a contrast in the bar area. Big Chill appliances were used to give the look and feel of an old Kitchen.

This kitchen, with its breathtaking view of Walker Point in Kennebunkport, ME, is an escape from the monotony of everyday life. White walls, a neutral backsplash and a light countertop keep this traditional kitchen bright and airy. Rich, full overlay walnut cabinetry, finished in Cocoa, add interest and depth to the space. The Vogue door used with the perimeter cabinetry gives the space a certain understated elegance.
The kitchen island, finished in dove white with 3˝ vogue doors on maple, contrast nicely with the rest of the kitchen. Deep, full-extension drawers in the end of the island, hold pots, pans and other cookware and are accessible any time they are needed. The island is a prime work station, but with a beautiful walnut countertop extension, it also doubles as a great spot to entertain guests.
Not only does this traditional kitchen have just the right amount of work stations and ample room for family and friends, but it also has glass front cabinets with x-front mullion for displaying fine glassware and china. Though serene, this kitchen doesn't sacrifice style. It is a blissful escape from the everyday pressures and stresses of life, found right inside the comfort of home.

The original kitchen in this condominium was renovated arising from the need to replace Kitec plumbing. The work triangle remained generally the same, but numerous changes were made to improve the kitchen’s functionality, aesthetics, and lighting. Automation was also introduced. The goal was to design and build a modern contemporary functional kitchen with inspiring colours accented with textured wood features.
The functionality was improved with the addition of an under counter microwave, which freed up countertop space. Additional and improved storage was also created by incorporating under cabinet drawers throughout the kitchen, a bar area with open glass shelving above, and open shelving to the right of the seating area. Upper cabinet storage was as well increased with storage above the fridge.
Numerous lighting improvements were made including the addition of potlights. This was done by dropping the ceiling in the kitchen, which also created a visual division with the dining area. Automation was introduced as well into the space with HUE under cabinet lighting, and a touch faucet. The under cabinet lights are controlled by the Phillips Hue App that programs routines, scenes, and other settings.
The kitchen features painted Shaker cabinets accented by textured wood shelving. The countertop surfaces are quartz with waterfalls on both sides of the island, which is a focal point. Shapes are also strongly identified in the design with the use of triangular tiles in the backsplash along with rectangular upper cabinets, and appliance doors and drawers. The kitchen is made most unique though with the uplifting use of colour in the cabinets that make this a bright and cheerful space.

This modern transitional home boasts an elegant kitchen that looks onto a large informal living room and shares space with the dining room and butler's pantry. Senior designer, Ayca, selected design elements that flow throughout the entire space to create a dynamic kitchen. The result is a perfect mix of industrial and organic materials, including a leathered quartzite countertop for the island with an unusual single-sided waterfall edge. The honed soapstone perimeter countertops complement the marble fireplace of the living room. A custom zinc vent hood, burnished brass mesh cabinet fronts, and leather finish slabs contrast against the dark wood floors, ceiling, and upper beams.
