A kitchen remodel for a retired Navy Captain who was ready for an upgrade to his beloved home. We wanted to keep the space light and aery but have that contrast with the black appliances. Cleanliness and easy of care were top priorities, so we used wood-looking porcelain tile and quartz for the hard surfaces. Arctic white cabinets got a chocolate glaze to amplify the detail in the door style and added a warmer feel to this large kitchen. The slab we picked was a statement piece and we made sure to use it for the backslash and waterfall it down the bar peninsula. We preserved the same footprint in this kitchen, changed out the pony wall for a bar-high peninsula, upgraded the appliances and painted the whole space Dover White.

This rooftop is all about privacy and entertaining. We designed and build a fire table, a pergola for shade, and a large bar area for serving and watching the big game. The decking is timbertech composite, and the pergola is steel framed. This is a Chicago rooftop deck. Clean contemporary lines and strong functional overlap in spaces.

The combination of Rustic and Craftsman styles with a modern add-on of high end appliances and a modern layout created this masterpiece of a kitchen.
The cabinets are painted off-white with antique glazing on it and the island is completely built from 100 year old reclaimed wood. the hardware is distressed iron finish and a black cement farmhouse sink all add to the story this kitchen tells.
The full height pantry wall holds the 36" fridge, a built-in microwave space, the built-in espresso machine and a hidden door to the laundry room hiding in a room behind.
We have intentionally did only 2 small wall mounted cabinets and instead opt with two 92" windows to allow maximum natural light, this also creates an open feeling in the work space.
The edge detail of the island countertop is hand chiseled to give a rough sensation and works wonderfully with the reclaimed wood island, while the main countertop boasts a straight edge detail to give a modern touch.

The homeowners wished to create one large open space from their closed off kitchen and dining room. We flipped their kitchen and dining room, eliminating the wall between, gave them a seated island with under counter radiant heating mat, a mudroom area with drop zone by their entry door and a window bench in their new dining area. The addition of windows in their new kitchen makes the space bright and cheery. Back venting the hood allowed for a glass cabinet above to showcase fun collectibles. If I were to explain the atmosphere in this home, I’d say it’s happy. Natural light, unbelievable view of Lake Murray, the mountains, the green hills, the sky – I used those natural colors as inspiration to come up with a palette for this project. As a result, we were brave enough to go with 3 cabinet colors (natural, oyster and olive), a gorgeous blue granite that’s named Azurite (a very powerful crystal), new appliance layout, raised ceiling, and a hole in the wall (butler’s window) … quite a lot, considering that client’s original goal was to just reface the existing cabinets (see before photos).
This remodel turned out to be the most accurate representation of my clients, their way of life and what they wanted to highlight in a space so dear to them. You truly feel like you’re in an English countryside cottage with stellar views, quaint vibe and accessories suitable for any modern family. We love the final result and can’t get enough of that warm abundant light!

An eclectic mix of materials was the request for this kitchen. Following an inspirational picture that the clients had clipped from a newspaper, we made this kitchen come to life. Herringbone laid floor tile, rough knotty alder cabinetry, with a vintage finish on the island and touches of metal in the copper hood and sink.
