Kitchen - coastal u-shaped medium tone wood floor kitchen idea in Providence with a farmhouse sink, white cabinets, stainless steel appliances and an island

Homeowner needed more light, more room, more style. We knocked out the wall between kitchen and dining room and replaced old window with a larger one. New stained cabinets, Soapstone countertops, and full-height tile backsplash turned this once inconvenient,d ark kitchen into an inviting and beautiful space.
We relocated the refrigerator and applied cabinet panels. The new duel-fuel range provides the utmost in cooking options. A farm sink brings another appealing design element into the clean-up area.
New lighting plan includes undercabinet lighting, recessed lighting in the dining room, and pendant light fixtures over the island.
New wood flooring was woven in with existing to create a seamless expanse of beautiful hardwood. New wood beams were stained to match the floor bringing even more warmth and charm to this kitchen.

Another nice detail is, no hood. there is a retractable downdraft hood behind the cooktop. You can see the architectural grille in the toe kick. In this total gut and reconfiguration of the kitchen and adjacent spaces, a seamless marriage of farmhouse aesthetic with materials that are already in the home create a space that integrates with the feeling of the original home. Significant changes to the layout and removal of walls has created an open concept living, larger kitchen area, and an organized and functional kitchen space. New French doors connect to the outdoors and introduce more light into the space, as well as increased recessed and accent lighting assist in generating a light-filled home. The new layout provides an open, inviting entertaining space where children can play in the den while meals are prepared on the oversized island.

For these clients, opening the kitchen to the dining room, incorporating an island and moving the sink to the window were priorities. We were happy to accommodate! The new open concept makes for an airy and spacious kitchen that flows seamlessly into the dining room. The owner loves looking out her window from her sink. It's also where her orchids have a found the perfect place to bloom and thrive. Over-sized pendants above the dark gray island offers a striking and appealing contrast to the neutral medium gray perimeter cabinets.

We are delighted to have completed the radical transformation of a tired detached property in South Croydon.
When they appointed Granit, our clients were living in the property which had previously been divided into a number of flats.
The historic sub-division had resulted in an extremely poor use of space with redundant staircases, kitchens and bathrooms throughout.
Our clients sought to reconfigure the property back into a single dwelling for his growing family.
Our client had an eye for design and was keen to balance contemporary design whilst maintaining as much of the character of the original house.
Maximising natural light, space and establishing a visual and physical connection were also key drivers for the design. Owing to the size of the property, it became apparent that reconfiguration rather than extension provided the solution to meet the brief.
A metal clad ‘intervention’ was introduced to the rear facade. This created a strong horizontal element creating a visual balance with the vertical nature of the three storey gable.
The metal cladding specified echoed the colour of the red brick string courses tying old with new. Slender frame sliding doors provide access and views of the large garden.
The central circulation space was transformed by the introduction of a double height glazed slot wrapping up the rear facade and onto the roof. This allows daylight to permeate into the heart of the otherwise dark deep floor plan. The staircase was reconfigured into a series of landings looking down over the main void space below and out towards the tree canopies at the rear of the garden.
The introduction of double pocket doors throughout the ground floor creates a series of interconnected spaces and the whitewashed Larch flooring flows seamlessly from room to room. A bold palette of colours and materials lends character and texture throughout the property.
The end result is a spacious yet cosy environment for the family to inhabit for years to come.
