Welcome to the beach house! We are pleased to share the photos from this OBX, NC beach house we decorated for one of our existing local clients. We were happy to travel to NC to assist in setting up their vacation home. Setting the tone in the entryway we selected furnishings with a coastal vibe. This console is 80 inches in length and is accented with beachy accessories and artwork. This home has a fantastic open concept living area that is perfect for large family gatherings. We furnished a dining space for ten, a family room with a large sectional that will provide seating for a crowd, and added game table with chairs for overflow. The dining table offers seating for 10 and includes 6 chairs and a bench seat that will comfortably sit 4. We selected a striped area rug in vibrant shades of blues and greens to give the space a coastal vibe. In the mudroom, shiplap walls, bench seating, cubbies and towel hooks are both pretty and hugely functional! A restful sleep awaits in the primary bedroom of this OBX beach house! A king size bed made of sand-blasted solid Rustic Poplar with metal accents and coordinating bedside tables create a rustic-yet-modern vibe. A large-scale mirror features a dark bronze frame with antique mirror side panels and corners with copper cladding and nail head details. For texture and comfort, we selected an area rug crafted from hand tufted ivory wool and rescued denim. Sheer window treatments keep the room light and airy. Need a sleeping space at your vacation home for the children? We created a bunk bed configuration that maximizes space and accommodates sleeping for eight at our client's OBX beach house. It's super functional and also fun! Stairwells with soaring ceilings call for statement lighting! We are in love with this gorgeous chandelier we chose for our client's OBX beach house.

Chris Bartol, photographer. Living room in new farmhouse. Client's have lived in many interesting places so my job was to take what they have and put it all together as a cohesive hole. Added color and texture to the walls with golden burlap wall covering. Picked up the blue from the carpet in the walls in the stair wells. We replaced the fabric on the backs of the chairs by the fireplace and used the fabric for pillows on the sofa and added moss fringe. Recovered the sofa in a slightly more formal fabric for this room. Then added new lamp shades and reframed the painting over the fireplace. The finishing touch was a great find, the large square antique coffee table with a parquet top. A great room to sit and have good conversation, a glass of wine and some hors d'oevres, which we do often.

For this expansive kitchen renovation, Designer, Randy O’Kane of Bilotta Kitchens worked with interior designer Gina Eastman and architect Clark Neuringer. The backyard was the client’s favorite space, with a pool and beautiful landscaping; from where it’s situated it’s the sunniest part of the house. They wanted to be able to enjoy the view and natural light all year long, so the space was opened up and a wall of windows was added. Randy laid out the kitchen to complement their desired view. She selected colors and materials that were fresh, natural, and unique – a soft greenish-grey with a contrasting deep purple, Benjamin Moore’s Caponata for the Bilotta Collection Cabinetry and LG Viatera Minuet for the countertops. Gina coordinated all fabrics and finishes to complement the palette in the kitchen. The most unique feature is the table off the island. Custom-made by Brooks Custom, the top is a burled wood slice from a large tree with a natural stain and live edge; the base is hand-made from real tree limbs. They wanted it to remain completely natural, with the look and feel of the tree, so they didn’t add any sort of sealant. The client also wanted touches of antique gold which the team integrated into the Armac Martin hardware, Rangecraft hood detailing, the Ann Sacks backsplash, and in the Bendheim glass inserts in the butler’s pantry which is glass with glittery gold fabric sandwiched in between. The appliances are a mix of Subzero, Wolf and Miele. The faucet and pot filler are from Waterstone. The sinks are Franke. With the kitchen and living room essentially one large open space, Randy and Gina worked together to continue the palette throughout, from the color of the cabinets, to the banquette pillows, to the fireplace stone. The family room’s old built-in around the fireplace was removed and the floor-to-ceiling stone enclosure was added with a gas fireplace and flat screen TV, flanked by contemporary artwork. Dining room - coastal dining room idea in Orange County

The master bath showcases a beautiful oblong strie tile, and Mystic Crystal granite. All the granite in the home is from New Century Granite in Springdale. The tile again is from Townzen tile. We selected a Robert Allen small rosette pattern to make the custom roman shade over the tub, which can be raised and lowered to let in just the right amount of light. I suggested running the oblong tile vertically in the shower and adding the accent band to create some interest in the pattern of the tile. An all-glass shower enclosure keeps the room feeling really open. I also helped select all the plumbing fixtures, which were purchased through Ferguson plumbing in Springdale. They are in an antique bronze finish and have a more modern shape than the traditional fixtures you usually see. Crystal knobs complete the cabinetry and touches of crystals in the lighted sconces and chandelier make this master bath feel extra luxurious.

The light filled Sunroom is the perfect spot for entertaining or reading a good book at the window seat. Project by Portland interior design studio Jenni Leasia Interior Design. Patio - contemporary patio idea in Seattle

The Webb's did an incredible job updating this 1955 ranch on Northampton Drive in Raleigh. Existing doorways were opened up, a wall came down, hardwoods and a heart pine ceiling were added and of course a new kitchen added. Great appliances, in cabinet organization and a mixture of textures through their counter top, back splash, hardware and plumbing selections make this a kitchen anyone would love to spend time in! This 1927 Spanish Colonial home was in dire need of an upgraded Master bathroom. We completely gut the bathroom and re-framed the floor because the house had settled over time. The client selected hand crafted 3x6 white tile and we installed them over a full mortar bed in a Subway pattern. We reused the original pedestal sink and tub, but had the tub re-glazed. The shower rod is also original, but we had it dipped in Polish Chrome. We added two wall sconces and a store bought medicine cabinet. Photos by Jessica Abler, Los Angeles, CA

The new Wolfe and Sub Zero appliances captured the clients’ dreams about redoing this space and they love their new kitchen! The owners of this attractive Johnson County home wanted an update to their kitchen. Their 17-year-old kitchen appliances needed replacing, so they decided to change out all the pale wood cabinets and start anew to accommodate the fresh sizes and styles. Arlene Ladegaard and the Design Connection, Inc. team assisted with the revitalization of the kitchen, creating a stunning new space through professional space planning, elevations and selections of modern materials, colors, and designs. The inset cabinet style produced a seamless look with the appliances hidden behind beautiful cabinet faces. The spiral brushed nickel pendants over the contrasting wood island topped off the look. Design Connection, Inc. provided; Kitchen design and layouts, tile, countertops, painting, appliance selection, cabinets, electrical, lighting and bar stools, project management, and installation of all materials to keep the integrity of the Design Connection, Inc. high standards.

Faced with extensive water damage to their home, the Patel’s turned to Cantoni designer Andrea Petor to infuse new life into their family’s beloved weekend retreat in Montgomery, Texas. Balancing the client’s minimalist wants with their love of hosting, Andrea created a cohesive design to accommodate their frequent guests and large extended family. Beginning with the kitchen remodel, Andrea worked with the Patel’s to identify the best layout for the space, understanding it would be used regularly for entertaining. To maximize storage space, Andrea designed custom floor to ceiling cabinetry finished in high gloss white lacquer. She selected Miele optic white appliances to enhance the sleek design. Andrea had a custom dining table built into the island to provide ample seating and ensure the entire family could enjoy meals together. The kitchen’s monochromatic color palette was carried throughout the interiors allowing the home’s beautiful waterfront views to take center stage. Adding richness and texture to each room, Andrea selected sculptural, modern furnishings to complete the space and bring the Patel’s vision to life.

The kitchen received a similar treatment as the bathroom with a brick backsplash, and although the bar countertop is actually quartz; it was specified to look like concrete. The outer bar cabinets also received the same stained finish as the bathroom, which enhances the warm tones of the wood floor and the brick. The kitchen cabinets were painted gray to contrast the warm tones and to pick up on some of the metal and concrete elements. The kitchen cabinets feature quartz countertops that resemble white marble for a more sophisticated look. The appliances were selected in a slate finish to recede into the cabinets without having to spend more money for panel fronts to match the cabinets.

Believe it or not, this award-winning home began as a speculative project. Typically speculative projects involve a rather generic design that would appeal to many in a style that might be loved by the masses. But the project’s developer loved modern architecture and his personal residence was the first project designed by architect C.P. Drewett when Drewett Works launched in 2001. Together, the architect and developer envisioned a fictitious art collector who would one day purchase this stunning piece of desert modern architecture to showcase their magnificent collection. The primary views from the site were southwest. Therefore, protecting the interior spaces from the southwest sun while making the primary views available was the greatest challenge. The views were very calculated and carefully managed. Every room needed to not only capture the vistas of the surrounding desert, but also provide viewing spaces for the potential collection to be housed within its walls. The core of the material palette is utilitarian including exposed masonry and locally quarried cantera stone. An organic nature was added to the project through millwork selections including walnut and red gum veneers. The eventual owners saw immediately that this could indeed become a home for them as well as their magnificent collection, of which pieces are loaned out to museums around the world. Their decision to purchase the home was based on the dimensions of one particular wall in the dining room which was EXACTLY large enough for one particular painting not yet displayed due to its size. When a young professional couple approached us to decorate the main floor of their brand new modern townhouse in Port Coquitlam, we were very excited. Having moved from a Gastown condo, the couple was eager to infuse this suburban location with a funky yet sophisticated downtown vibe. They were also looking for a neutral backdrop with some hits of colour and asked us to incorporate wallpaper. The statement artwork that we selected above the fireplace set the tone for this project. We started with a pair of sleek neutral leather sofas to maximize seating in the small living space and layered them with a variety of toss pillows in blues, teals & turquoise then added a few pops of orange. We defined the front entrance and dining area with a stunning marbleized grey and white wallpaper by Graham and Brown. The dark wood furniture in the dining area adds contrast and sophistication balancing the dark stained kitchen cabinets opposite. The resulting look is clean, modern and playful.
