This multi-use room serves as a versatile space that merges work, play, and relaxation seamlessly. At one end, a sleek and functional office area features a modern desk with a glossy top, accompanied by an executive-style chair and two visitor chairs, positioned neatly beside a tall window that invites natural light. Opposite the desk, a wall-mounted monitor provides a focal point for work or entertainment.
Central to the room, a professional poker table, surrounded by comfortable chairs, hints at leisure and social gatherings. This area is illuminated by a series of recessed lights, which add warmth and visibility to the gaming space.
Adjacent to the poker area, a sophisticated wet bar boasts an integrated wine fridge, making it perfect for entertaining guests. The bar is complemented by contemporary shelving that displays a selection of spirits and decorative items, alongside chic bar stools that invite casual seating.
The room's design is characterized by a neutral palette, crisp white walls, and rich, dark flooring that offers a contrast, enhancing the modern and clean aesthetic. Strategically placed art pieces add a touch of personality, while the overall organization ensures that each section of the room maintains its distinct purpose without sacrificing cohesiveness or style.

Central Ohio's Basement Finishing ExpertsBest Of Houzz '13-'21

This Milford French country home’s 2,500 sq. ft. basement transformation is just as extraordinary as it is warm and inviting. The M.J. Whelan design team, along with our clients, left no details out. This luxury basement is a beautiful blend of modern and rustic materials. A unique tray ceiling with a hardwood inset defines the space of the full bar. Brookhaven maple custom cabinets with a dark bistro finish and Cambria quartz countertops were used along with state of the art appliances. A brick backsplash and vintage pendant lights with new LED Edison bulbs add beautiful drama. The entertainment area features a custom built-in entertainment center designed specifically to our client’s wishes. It houses a large flat screen TV, lots of storage, display shelves and speakers hidden by speaker fabric. LED accent lighting was strategically installed to highlight this beautiful space. The entertaining area is open to the billiards room, featuring a another beautiful brick accent wall with a direct vent fireplace. The old ugly steel columns were beautifully disguised with raised panel moldings and were used to create and define the different spaces, even a hallway. The exercise room and game space are open to each other and features glass all around to keep it open to the rest of the lower level. Another brick accent wall was used in the game area with hardwood flooring while the exercise room has rubber flooring. The design also includes a rear foyer coming in from the back yard with cubbies and a custom barn door to separate that entry. A playroom and a dining area were also included in this fabulous luxurious family retreat. Stunning Provenza engineered hardwood in a weathered wire brushed combined with textured Fabrica carpet was used throughout most of the basement floor which is heated hydronically. Tile was used in the entry and the new bathroom. The details are endless! Our client’s selections of beautiful furnishings complete this luxurious finished basement. New construction opens a wide array of options when it comes to selecting finishes. For this particular client, they wanted a durable floor that was also aesthetically pleasing to complete their basement. Since there was no topical sealer on the new concrete, a polished flooring system was selected.
The basement itself was a little over 1200 square feet and featured a game room, main living area, bedrooms, bathrooms and a kitchen. All of the flooring was to be polished to a level 400 shine and finished with a densifier and stain guarding product. Polished concrete is the most durable flooring choice. It allows the concrete to breathe below grade, creates movement and character throughout the space and is very easy to maintain. With a pond out back, a polished concrete floor is easy to clean and will be able to withstand high traffic.

We started with an older home that had a very dated kitchen with an older closed room design that needed to change to open concept to work with how today's families live in their home. To walls were removed to open the floorplan and new porcilain tile and 3/4 oak hardwood were installed to visually separate the family room from the kitchen area. New, custom coloured Benjamin Moore painted Cabinetry was then installed with a custom Island In Alderwood "Espresso" colour. Granite countertops were selected and a Glass Subway tile was installed, complete with a Pot filler over the stove and high volume exhaust fan. The result is simply stunning!! We have also included before pictures to show where we started, and this new kitchen has really come a long way. What a Game Changer!!!!

A fun bonus space turned into a swanky wine room. The run was a small space upstairs next to the media room. It is now a cozy space to enjoy drinks, snacks, watching the game or listening to music.

The neutral family room has pops of blue and coral, enhancing the gray pallet. Floor to ceiling draperies and the art piece over the fireplace draw the eye upward with the high ceiling. Adding lighted floating shelves grounds the fireplace and gives us a modern look for displaying beautiful object.

Client house had a dated office and cabinet space adjacent to game room. We converted the space into a dry bar with a rustic wood backsplash and added a wine closet with Chicago brick tile for that old look. Floating shelves with lighting create modern storage

This media room was designed for karaoke gatherings as well as for watching movies. Room was created to be fun with a lot of personality and yet comfortable for gathering friends and family together. This beautiful oversized clock from Uttermost reflects the unique movie art on the opposite wall. An animal print ottoman and bright pops of orange and pink add to the fun feeling of this room.
