The challenges for this kitchen remodel are also what makes this home so unique. One of the problems was finding an appropriate new flooring to coordinate perfectly with the adjacent flooring finishes. The original dark clay tile flooring in the kitchen was also used throughout the main living area of the entire home, only separated by a terrazzo hallway floor. Updating the kitchen flooring was critical to the new aesthetics, but the homeowners were wary of the idea of three hard flooring finishes. The over-sized 24x24 cement style porcelain tiles were the perfect complement not only to the terrazzo hallway, but also the large outdoor porch directly off the eating area.

This home office was designed to act as both a serene guest room and a home office with work space for two people. Both the husband and wife work from home, so two desk spaces were a must. We were working with a somewhat small footprint, so we opted for a daybed that can pull out to become a king bed for guests. We brought in soft mint touches with rustic, industrial twists.

An old stone mansion built in 1924 had seen a number of renovations over the decades and the time had finally come to address a growing list of issues. All of the home’s bathrooms needed to be fully gutted and completely redone. In the master bathroom, we took this opportunity to rearrange the layout to incorporate a double vanity and relocate the toilet (the former bathroom had only a small single vanity with the toilet awkwardly located directly in front of the door). The bathtub was replaced with a generous walk-in shower complete with frameless glass and digital controls. We located a towel warmer immediately outside the shower to provide toasty towels within easy reach. A beautiful Calacatta and Bardigiglio Gray basketweave tile was used in combination with various sizes of Calacatta marble field tile and trim for a look that is both elegant and timeless.
