Beautiful kitchen with two islands for a large family to gather in. One island with lots of seating while the other is used prepare meals still leaving the cook with lots of workspace. Between the built-in refrigerator and freezer a pewter countertop was used to mirror the materials used on the hood on the opposing wall.

An 8-foot-wide addition to the end of this mid-century modern gem of a home designed by the well-known local modernist architect Robert Metcalf allowed the former galley kitchen to be enlarged and modernized. The eating nook and the kitchen were flipped, moving the kitchen closer to the garage and the eating area to the end of the house to take advantage of the gorgeous view. Clean lines, glass tile backsplashes, and a glass breakfast counter give the home an update that fits beautifully with the original architect’s design. This whole house remodel integrated the kitchen with the dining room, entertainment center, living room and a walk in pantry. We remodeled a guest bathroom, and added a drop zone in the front hallway dining.

A young family moving from NYC tackled a lightning fast makeover of their new colonial revival home before the arrival of their second child. The kitchen area was quite spacious but needed a facelift and new layout. Painted cabinetry matched to Benjamin Moore’s Light Pewter is balanced by grey glazed rift oak cabinetry on the island. Shiplap paneling on the island and cabinet lend a slightly contemporary edge.
