This couple moved to Plano to be closer to their kids and grandchildren. When they purchased the home, they knew that the kitchen would have to be improved as they love to cook and gather as a family. The storage and prep space was not working for them and the old stove had to go! They loved the gas range that they had in their previous home and wanted to have that range again. We began this remodel by removing a wall in the butlers pantry to create a more open space. We tore out the old cabinets and soffit and replaced them with cherry Kraftmaid cabinets all the way to the ceiling. The cabinets were designed to house tons of deep drawers for ease of access and storage. We combined the once separated laundry and utility office space into one large laundry area with storage galore. The primary bathroom was gutted and renovated with a spa feel. The tumbled blue glass tiles are hand made and pair beautifully with the gray stone floor tile. A freestanding tub, custom vanity and separate shower keeps this updated traditional space very calm and relaxing.

Party Palace - Custom Ranch on Acreage in Ridgefield Washington by Cascade West Development Inc. Although family togetherness is important sometimes siblings just need a little space. This idea influenced a number of functional rooms in our concept including bedrooms, rec rooms and shared amenities. Most bedrooms became Suites (bathroom attached) and amenities were divided equally. Sisters shared a space separate from the brothers' shared space. A luxurious master bath was high on the homeowners' wish list during their whole house remodel, and they now have the bath of their dreams. A separate walk-in tiled shower with glass block wall, a double-sink vanity, and a jetted tub provide a spacious master bath with room for two. The recessed-panel alder cabinets are topped with a Corian counter in Rain Forest. The bathroom floor and shower walls are tiled with Shimla White Quartzite, and the shower floor is a 2" tumbled slate mosaic called Golden Sunset.

The main goal of this project was to create a seamless and open floor plan on the first floor, adding a family room and enlarging the kitchen. A master bedroom and bathroom suite were planned to make better use of the second level. To accomplish these goals, a 20’ x 20’ two-story addition was designed by Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes. The new expanded kitchen and family room features limestone floors, a new gas fireplace surrounded with built-ins and glass stone hearth to complement the kitchen countertops and backsplash. Use of espresso colored cabinetry topped by a light granite countertop with brown veins running through it is one of the decorative touches that make this project stunning. The large middle island which consists of a second sink, wine chiller and seating space is another bonus point of this kitchen. Commercial quality appliances assure gourmet cooking at its finest. Large first floor windows face the home’s new flagstone patio, which can be accessed via a French door. The second floor consists of the master bedroom with a sitting area , French doors leading into a French balcony facing back yard, double-sided stoned gas fireplace (between the bedroom and master bath) and a cathedral ceiling. The master bathroom features a large steam shower, body sprays and rain shower, a large double person Jacuzzi, tumbled marble floor and wall tiles with accents. The use of wide plank exotic tiger wood has beautified this master suite. Keeping the homeowners’ contemporary style in mind and achieving their wishes has transformed this old 1950 colonial into a fully functional 21st Century dream home.

2011 NARI CAPITAL COTY FINALIST AWARD WINNER This 1970’s split-level single-family home in an upscale Arlington neighborhood had been neglected for years. With his surrounding neighbors all doing major exterior and interior remodeling, however, the owner decided it was time to renovate his property as well. After several consultation meetings with the design team at Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes, he settled on an exterior layout to create an Art & Craft design for the home. It all got started by excavating the front and left side of the house and attaching a wrap-around stone porch. Key design attributes include a black metal roof, large tapered columns, blue and grey random style flag stone, beaded stain ceiling paneling and an octagonal seating area on the left side of this porch. The front porch has a wide stairway and another set of stairs leads to the back yard. All exterior walls of the home were modified with new headers to allow much larger custom-made windows, new front doors garage doors, and French side and back doors. A custom-designed mahogany front door with leaded glass provides more light and offers a wider entrance into the home’s living area. Design challenges included removing the entire face of the home and then adding new insulation, Tyvek and Hardiplank siding. The use of high-efficiency low-e windows makes the home air tight. The Arts & Crafts design touches include the front gable over the front porch, the prairie-style grill pattern on the windows and doors, the use of tapered columns sitting over stone columns and the leaded glass front door. Decorative exterior lighting provides the finishing touches to this look. Inside, custom woodwork, crown molding, custom glass cabinets and interior pillars carry the design. Upon entering the space, visitors face a large partition that separates the living area from a gourmet Arts & Crafts kitchen and dining room. The home’s signature space, the kitchen offers contrasting dark and light cherry cabinets. Wide plank hard wood floors, exotic granite counters and stainless steel professional-grade appliances make this a kitchen fit for any chef.

Our mission, imposed by our client, was to create a jaw-dropping, ultra-functional space for family and friends to gather in for years to come. Naturally, the new kitchen would have to reflect the style of the home seamlessly. One challenge was to incorporate very large professional style appliances into the space while keeping the feel of a stately, yet warm home. Custom wood panels were designed for the refrigerator units to give a furniture feel. A copper hood was designed to bring in an old world element. Wood panels were applied to all other appliances – two dishwashers, a wine refrigerator, and a beverage refrigerator. An iron I-beam that separated the original kitchen from the butler’s pantry and back entry was covered in wood with chamfers to match the other ceiling beams in the home by a local woodworker. Due to the age of the home, the outside walls are concrete block. This necessitated chiseling troughs into the concrete for electrical wiring. Ceilings were studded randomly, so finding openings for recessed lighting was hit or miss. A large cluster of wiring and plumbing to the second floor had to be hidden behind cabinetry to the left of and above the refrigerators. HVAC wasn’t straight forward either. Toe kick heaters from the old kitchen had to be replaced with other sources. A propane tank had to be added to fuel the large dual fuel, double oven range. The homeowner wanted to add a walk-in pantry for extra storage, so space was taken from an existing exterior space. This created the need for extra insulation, supplemental heat and added lighting. Needless to say, mechanicals were a big challenge. Natural stone was added in backsplash areas to the ceiling to mimic the rectangular stone on the exterior of the home. Wood panels fill the backsplash areas under wall cabinets. Large chandeliers light the space. Open shelves at the wet bar/prep area offer convenient storage for grab and go service items. A built-in pantry with antique mirrored mullion doors hides a microwave, several other small appliances as well as dishes and food items. This pantry was tucked into an alcove for an added architectural element. Herringbone wood floors are classic and timeless. Wrought iron hardware and shelf brackets fit right in. Cape Cod style house with drought tolerant contemporary garden with two fountains, fire pit patio area, outdoor dining area, separate secret garden with a lounging sofa off the master bedroom, dotted with fruit trees, vegetable garden, and some whimsical sculptures, perfectly designed for entertaining. A couple retiring early to a Lake District property asked us to modernise their kitchen and utility space. They wanted to keep the areas separate, with the utility serving as their working space for laundry and for storing their walking boots after long walks in the fells. For their kitchen, they chose a handleless Keller Bronx Kitchen in Wild Oak, finished in an Ultra Matt Mist light grey colour. This was beautifully paired with 20mm quartz worktops, featuring an undermounted sink and matching splashback panels. We aimed to give the room character while maintaining a modern appeal. The clients love the new drawer systems, finding everything easily accessible. The kitchen is visually pleasing and simple to keep clean. The clean design created plenty of clear worktop space, complemented by a Quooker tap for instant boiling water, adding a touch of luxury. Modern Siemens appliances, including an inductAir vented hob, were seamlessly integrated into the layout to ensure an efficient kitchen workflow. Through the door, the utility room features matching furniture but with handled doors, prioritising practicality. It includes a stainless steel sink with a pull-down spray tap, while compact laminate worktops and splashbacks proved an excellent choice for this space. An integrated utility unit for cleaning products and laundry was a useful addition, with the washer and tumble dryer built-in to keep the room organised. A small boot unit made from the same Keller furniture was designed to sit on when putting boots on, alongside coat hooks for outdoor wear. Both rooms were finished with LVT tile-effect flooring installed by our trusted partner tradesmen. The flooring creating a seamless flow between the rooms. We also added under-wall unit LED lighting in both rooms, complementing the recently updated ceiling lights.
