Inspiration for a coastal sunroom remodel in Orange County with a glass ceiling

This Transitional Farmhouse Kitchen was completely remodeled and the home is nestled on the border of Pasadena and South Pasadena. Our goal was to keep the original charm of our client’s home while updating the kitchen in a way that was fresh and current. Our design inspiration began with a deep green soapstone counter top paired with creamy white cabinetry. Carrera marble subway tile for the backsplash is a luxurious splurge and adds classic elegance to the space. The stainless steel appliances and sink create a more transitional feel, while the shaker style cabinetry doors and schoolhouse light fixture are in keeping with the original style of the home. Tile flooring resembling concrete is clean and simple and seeded glass in the upper cabinet doors help make the space feel open and light. This kitchen has a hidden microwave and custom range hood design, as well as a new pantry area, for added storage. The pantry area features an appliance garage and deep-set counter top for multi-purpose use. These features add value to this small space. The finishing touches are polished nickel cabinet hardware, which add a vintage look and the cafe curtains are the handiwork of the homeowner. In this kitchen renovation we installed Medallion Silverline Lancaster Cherry Cabinets with Chestnut stain accented with a Medallion Gold Potters Mill Cherry Mission arched valance 4x60 with Chestnut stain accented with Amerock caramel bronze pull. For the countertops, we installed Cambria Quartz surfacing in Bradshaw color with bullnose edge. The backsplash was created using 3x6 Durango tile with Daltile stone radiance glass and stone pieces with a pearl grout. An Elkay sink with Kohler stainless steel faucet. On the floor porcelain wood look tile in light Chocolate was installed.

This is a stunning modern kitchen. Sometimes, contemporary design can feel cold or sterile. This kitchen sets itself apart by adding color, warmth, and custom design elements that remain true to modern aesthetic but add in character and personality. The extra tall upper cabinets add height and drama to the space. The glass inserts at the top have lighted interiors which serve as storage and display areas. The Crown molding continues over the stainless hood, bridging the nearly 4 foot gap between the two sides. The grey accent color on the wall cabinets is echoed at the large kitchen island. The soft white perimeter color serves as a great anchor for the bold grey accent. The granite stays true to the color scheme with its white base and grey and black veining. The back splash is a grey vein cut limestone. The glass inset tiles offer color and shine to the subway limestone. At the hood area, the pattern switches to herringbone, but maintains the glass accent. By using the same tile and simply changing the format, we add visual interest to the space without creating competing elements. The built in Wolf convection oven and steam oven are a superior option for any cook. The wood plank floor is actually porcelain tile. Porcelain tile is easier to maintain than wood, and holds up better in heavy traffic or water environments, such as kitchen.
