The glass meditation room walls slide open, revealing a special desert garden, while at night the gurgling water reflects dancing lights up through the glass floor into this lovely Zen Zone.

Refugia Design/BuildThis stunning Carriage House, built in 1903, inspired our team to honor its history and alchemize the feeling of a natural haven on-site through our design choices. The front lawn was converted to a habitat-rich meadow with flowering natives such as Agastache foeniculum (Anise hyssop), Rudbeckia fulgida (Black-Eyed Susan), and Clethra alnifolia ‘Ruby Spice’ (Summersweet). A fern-filled woodland (including Polystichum acrostichoides and Athyrium filix-femina), was installed in the shady side beds. Despite development encroaching upon this treasured spot over the decades, thoughtful landscape design and maintenance has helped retain its age-old beauty and charm.

GardenWorks Boston, LLCThis project began with an underused rear garden with very minimal lawn and plantings. The client wanted to convert the area for relaxing and entertaining, adding a food preparation and lounge area. There was a 50' tree in the middle of the yard, close to the patio area., whose roots we were careful not to disturb. The plantings were a design addition. We designed and installed the Bluestone patio, selected and planted the trees, shrubs and groundcover and did extensive work to create a lawn. The patio was designed around the tree to create two "halves" which suited the duplex property.
Trio LandscapingThis limestone wall is made of rescued stone from the previous landscape on site and transitions the grade from the neighbors. Hostas and ferns add green to a very shady place along the property line fence.
