The front lawn was converted to a habitat-rich meadow with flowering natives such as Agastache foeniculum (Anise hyssop), Rudbeckia fulgida (Black-Eyed Susan), and Clethra alnifolia ‘Ruby Spice’ (Summersweet). A fern-filled woodland (including Polystichum acrostichoides and Athyrium filix-femina), was installed in the shady side beds. Despite development encroaching upon this treasured spot over the decades, thoughtful landscape design and maintenance has helped retain its age-old beauty and charm.

Nature's Perspective LandscapingOur clients wanted a unique space that would radiate calmness and relaxation, accentuate a large art sculpture and include a large koi pond and deck. Four 100+ year old Oak trees and a large Mulberry tree on the property made it impossible to grow grass. We created a shady retreat with a palette of shade-tolerant plants offering multiple seasons of interest. A functional paver walk leads to the garage, and a gravel path meanders through plantings. The large koi pond with waterfall wall is sited near the deck for enjoyment.

Molly Scott Exteriors, LLCA large Crape Myrtle was brought into the site to provide shade from the intense sunlight. The tree was installed at about 10' tall and will quickly create a shady corner for the garden. Crape Myrtles have a long bloom time and wonderful fall color as well.
