Rich and Janet approached us looking to downsize their home and move to Corvallis to live closer to family. They were drawn to our passion for passive solar and energy-efficient building, as they shared this same passion. They were fortunate to purchase a 1050 sf house with three bedrooms and 1 bathroom right next door to their daughter and her family. While the original 55-year-old residence was characterized by an outdated floor plan, low ceilings, limited daylight, and a barely insulated outdated envelope, the existing foundations and floor framing system were in good condition. Consequently, the owners, working in tandem with us and their architect, decided to preserve and integrate these components into a fully transformed modern new house that embodies the perfect symbiosis of energy efficiency, functionality, comfort and beauty. With the expert participation of our designer Sarah, homeowners Rich and Janet selected the interior finishes of the home, blending lush materials, textures, and colors together to create a stunning home next door to their daughter’s family. The successful completion of this wonderful project resulted in a vibrant blended-family compound where the two families and three generations can now mingle and share the joy of life with each other.

This kitchen was reinvented for homeowners who share a passion for cooking. The in-house chefs – one a baker, the other a cook – requested a separate counter space to work with dough and where the mixer lift-up could be housed. Large appliances were also a must. And so was Wood-Mode cabinetry, like they had in their previous home. Designer Jennifer Hissa got to work creating a unique design to fit everything in. While only two shallow display wall cabinets were planned for the space, Hissa designed every other upper cabinet in a standing counter style to provide a maximum amount of storage with use of traditional wall cabinets.
A clean, white color palette was selected with pops of black and stainless steel accents. Wood-Mode’s Nova Recessed door style in Matte Nordic White was an easy choice. But the countertop wasn’t. Wanting a unique natural stone option, it took the homeowners and Hissa several months to locate the final selection. Flip-up wall cabinets provide easy access to slide larger appliances in and out, and the mixer gets its on special cabinet. And a magic corner organizes and quickly retrieves baking bowls and pans, while tray partitions keep baking sheets in order from roasting pans.

Who says you can't have lounge chairs in the kitchen?
This nook is where the kitchen table used to live. Since we built it on to the island and took up a large part of the space, it made for a perfect place to have a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine while waiting for dinner preparations. Now they can both be comfortable in the same space as they share their passion for cooking together. They've told me it's their favorite part of the whole kitchen!

In fact, you may have seen him speak at our Learn From The Pros Workshop! Collaborating on a project with him was going to be fun! Even though Gary already knew about our Signature Refacing process, after completing projects in over 30,000 homes, we know that seeing the transformation in your own home is another experience entirely! Reborn Cabinets is very proud of this project, and we invite you to take a look at the stunning results! Gary, thanks for letting Reborn take your kitchen from ordinary to extraordinary! You’re the best!
