The transformation of this ranch-style home in Carlsbad, CA, exemplifies a perfect blend of preserving the charm of its 1940s origins while infusing modern elements to create a unique and inviting space. By incorporating the clients' love for pottery and natural woods, the redesign pays homage to these preferences while enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal and functionality of the home. From building new decks and railings, surf showers, a reface of the home, custom light up address signs from GR Designs Line, and more custom elements to make this charming home pop.
The redesign carefully retains the distinctive characteristics of the 1940s style, such as architectural elements, layout, and overall ambiance. This preservation ensures that the home maintains its historical charm and authenticity while undergoing a modern transformation. To infuse a contemporary flair into the design, modern elements are strategically introduced. These modern twists add freshness and relevance to the space while complementing the existing architectural features. This balanced approach creates a harmonious blend of old and new, offering a timeless appeal.
The design concept revolves around the clients' passion for pottery and natural woods. These elements serve as focal points throughout the home, lending a sense of warmth, texture, and earthiness to the interior spaces. By integrating pottery-inspired accents and showcasing the beauty of natural wood grains, the design celebrates the clients' interests and preferences. A key highlight of the redesign is the use of custom-made tile from Japan, reminiscent of beautifully glazed pottery. This bespoke tile adds a touch of artistry and craftsmanship to the home, elevating its visual appeal and creating a unique focal point. Additionally, fabrics that evoke the elements of the ocean further enhance the connection with the surrounding natural environment, fostering a serene and tranquil atmosphere indoors.
The overall design concept aims to evoke a warm, lived-in feeling, inviting occupants and guests to relax and unwind. By incorporating elements that resonate with the clients' personal tastes and preferences, the home becomes more than just a living space—it becomes a reflection of their lifestyle, interests, and identity.

This large guest bedroom suite showcases the not so subtle differences between clutter and collection. After sitting in boxes for years, a lifetime of sports memorabilia are utilized to give this wonderful room a story to tell.
We designed custom built-in cabinetry to display the amazing treasures of authentic steins and family photos amongst sports nostalgia, books, trophies, autographed caps, bats and balls. This "man cave" living space fits perfectly into this contemporary home and gives our client reason to smile.
As you can see, the entry, formal dining room, wet bar, and master bedroom also share an intentional and tailored design aesthetic. The design trick is not to "over-decorate" and edit your collection so that it does not overwhelm the space.
Our client told us "your team should be very proud of the incredible home that you created for this old sports fan. Thank you for making it all happen."

This custom Claro Walnut live edge table captures the perfect balance of nature, craftsmanship, and rustic elegance.
The slab, ethically sourced from a California walnut grove, is a subspecies of American black walnut — celebrated for its exquisite color depth and grain movement. This particular piece showcases light sapwood edges framing a rich blend of warm browns, deep grays, and golden undertones in a flowing, organic pattern.
Our artisans in Nashville, TN, reinforced the slab with butterfly joints (also known as bow ties) for added stability and preserved the natural beauty of the wood. A rare touch of blue epoxy fills the central void — offering both structural strength and visual harmony.
Set on authentic whiskey barrels for a pub-height design, this table brings warmth, texture, and character to any space. Finished with our durable hard wax oil, the surface feels smooth and natural to the touch while offering long-lasting protection.
Handcrafted by our small, skilled team at Littlebranch Farm, this piece was made for a Mississippi home — just in time for Thanksgiving.

These modern kitchen cabinets feature a vertical grain pattern, adding visual interest and a sense of sophistication to the overall design. The vertical grain creates clean lines and a streamlined appearance, enhancing the modern style of the kitchen.
The upper ceiling cabinets make excellent use of vertical space, providing ample storage while maximizing the height of the room. This design choice not only offers functionality but also adds a sense of grandeur and luxury to the kitchen.
Crafted from high-quality oak wood veneer, these cabinets showcase the natural beauty of the wood. The oak veneer adds a touch of elegance and warmth to the space, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The natural grains and patterns of the oak veneer further enhance the organic and contemporary appeal of the cabinets.
Finished with a natural finish, these cabinets maintain the authentic look and feel of the oak wood, allowing its natural color and texture to shine through. The natural finish enhances the wood's inherent beauty, providing a smooth and durable surface that is easy to maintain.#moderndesigns #contemporarycabinets #kitchencabinetry #customcabinets #moderndesignideas #modernkitchencabinets #oakveneer#seattlecabinets

Danish Modern is one of the several types of Modern design style. Popularized in Denmark from the 1940s-1970s, Danish modern furniture design was a collaboration between the principles of modern architecture and the high-quality cabinetmaking for which the Danes were known. Simple, elegant, airy, and featuring clean, sweeping lines, the furnishings are inherently warm and beautiful.
This open dining room is a collection of vintage Danish modern furniture dating from the early 1970s. The authentic pieces were located at different auction houses and specialty consigners around the country to create a cohesive look the homeowners were seeking.
The solid teak sideboard features a lighted upper display cabinet (removable) showcasing the homeowners’ collection of art including Nambé, Murano, Vietri sul Mare, and Blenko.
The lower cabinet consists of two sliding doors on either end offering plentiful storage. In between are a bank of five felt-lined drawers for items such as silverware, trays and linens.
With graceful rounded corners and rich, warm teak woodgrain, the dining room table is a perfect match to the sideboard. Two leaves tightly drop in and enable expansion with seating capacity for 14 people.
Mixing up dining chairs adds interest and variety. The curvaceous and timeless Arne Jacobsen (the Danish designer) Series 7 chair in black is the perfect pairing for this dynamic design.
Crowning the space is the airy, translucent classic Nelson bubble lamp, keeping in line with the Modernist theme.

This home was designed to harmonize our client's passion for hospitality with modern grandeur and personal history. The result is an artful oasis that embraces contemporary elegance while paying homage to Nepalese heritage.
Color and art were a key component of our approach as we sought to balance vibrancy with traditional architectural elements. We used statement accessories and sculptures in the entryway to draw the eye inward and create a striking first impression. Specially commissioned pieces in the main living spaces echo the bold tones of the library and bar, and the hallways -gallery-like in scale- showcase curated installations that pull color and culture through the home.
Strategic use of light was designed to emphasize grandeur and provide softness. In the great room, we opted for undraped windows, relying instead on statement fixtures to draw the eye upward and punctuate the room. Chandeliers in adjacent spaces provided a daintiness against the white marble used throughout. In the dining room, drapery, handmade in Nepal, centralizes the client's story and adds layer of essential warmth and authenticity.
By blending art, light and color, we created a space that celebrates storied design and classic grandeur, inspiring us to gather often and live vibrantly.

Step into this stunning open-concept home, where earthy tones and nature-inspired elements blend seamlessly. The kitchen boasts the distinguished character of Natural Quarter-Sawn White Oak cabinets, complemented by inviting earthy green painted cabinets. As one of our popular skinny shaker doors, the Reese door style adds a sleek and modern touch to this beautifully designed kitchen. Reese is known for its thin, shallow, minimalistic rails.
Abundant natural light pours in, illuminating the spacious alcove cooking area and white walls, creating a bright and airy atmosphere without relying on white painted cabinets. The floating shelves by the window are perfect for showcasing the homeowner’s favorite plants, succulents, or fresh herbs, bringing a touch of authentic greenery to the space. The appliance panels help seamlessly conceal the typically large metal appliances with the warmth of natural quarter-sawn white oak.
A dedicated beverage station adjacent to the kitchen provides additional storage and entertaining space for the dining area, with cabinets and a fireplace built-in featuring the “Evergreen Fog” paint color also in the Reese door style.
