Enter through the gate and guide yourself down the spiral path that lets you see and have access to every inch of the garden. There are so many veggies this family will be enjoying fresh harvests well into fall! There are many types of mulching material available today for your landscape beds. However, it's wise to ask where the mulch your contractor is going to use is from, and more importantly what it is made of. With modern day equipment, producers of mulch can grind up practically any wood material available to them, from landscape debris, to tree stumps and pallets; all if it can go into the grinder and come out as mulch. If you have a large area that does not have sensitive plant material present, this may be a fine choice given that the cost of this type of mulch is usually very low. If however you are looking for a more uniform and plant friendly material, look for a double shredded hardwood bark mulch. This type of mulch is more fibrous and will knit together better than a wood chip mulch. This will help keep it in place longer, and provide a better weed barrier and moisture control blanket for your plants.

Strand woven bamboo flooring is made by compressing "strands" of the bamboo strips under intense pressure, while using a heat-sensitive low-VOC adhesive. Bamboo poles are split, shredded into individual strands, and fused under a cold press of 2,500 tons of pressure. After the curing process, the block is sliced into flooring with T+G system and coatings applied. Strand Woven bamboo is conditioned by soaking in Boric acid. We put the cut bamboo in containers of boric acid, live cells will soak the boric acid then make it pest proof in all cells of bamboo. Once boric acid is gone through the cells, they will dry them. Once totally dried, they crash the entire pole and compress the fibers with adhesive.

Our customer, the homeowner, had an overgrown landscape bed so she hired us to remove the top layer of weeds and dirt and install this 2 course rustic edging / wall. The homeowner had the idea of putting a strip of lime around the outside of the wall to prevent grass and weeds from growing right up to it so that's what we did and it turned out well. We did not install the solar path lights. The only plants we left in the bed are the lilac bush and the crab apple tree and a clump of asters at both ends. The homeowner purchased and planted the dwarf fountain grasses herself.

A great view of the custom built playhouse. This structure features all the elements of an outdoor play structure, including two slides, monkey bars, mini rock climbing wall, a swing and a "trapeze bar" / ring combo. The left "cabin" has a set of cedar stairs that allow access to the upper deck and bridge to the upper deck of the right "cabin" The left cabin features a light switch which turns all the 12V DC lighting in each cabin on or off. It also has a cedar staircase to the upper level, a PVC "sound pipe" that allows two people to talk into it, a magnetic board for play magnets, access to the ball pit slide, and a cool "button box" that is programmed with different animal noises depending on which button is pressed. The right cabin is a combination kitchen / grocery store and puppet show area and contains all the related toys and details expected in such an area. The bamboo siding edges and corners are sourced from Texture Plus, who specialize in faux siding materials.

Then the major plantings of Crapemyrtle, Western Arborvitae, and other evergreen screening plants were added. The next step was planting smaller shrubs like native Summersweet, dwarf variegated Boxwood, native Sweetspire, Cherry Laurel, and dwarf Butterfly bush. Next, we added numerous perennials for sequential bloom and finally bulbs for early spring color and pollinator interest. Lastly, everything was mulched with natural triple-shredded hardwood bark mulch. Now our client has many years to look forward to with screening, pollinator interest, and ongoing blooms on trees, shrubs perennials, and spring flowering bulbs.

The homeowners of this California Cottage wanted a beach vibe in their 1700 sq. ft. home. They wanted to make the most of their spaces by widening doorways, adding wood floors throughout the house, and adding a skylight. This large sloped lot in Serrano was a new construction project and required low water demand planting with retaining walls to open up some walkway space and parking in front of the house. Planting is low water demand and shredded bark to control erosion and retain moisture for the plants, while feeding plants as the bark breaks down into the soils. Weeds are controlled using pre-emergent weed control twice a year.
