A new coat of paint and new floors, this room now feels much larger and open. The designer update the dark and heavy fireplace by giving it a larger hearth and bold tile creating a beautiful focal point to the room.

Transitional kitchen photo in New York

The client’s vision for this kitchen was a transitional design that blends classic craftsmanship with modern elements for a timeless, balanced look. The island, finished in milk-with-tea-stained red oak, adds warmth and texture, complemented by perimeter cabinetry painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove. Brass hardware throughout adds warmth and understated luxury. A glossy, hand-crafted-style tile backsplash brings soft texture and light reflection while maintaining a clean, neutral palette. We designed a custom, gently arched, painted wood hood that introduces a refined “modern English” presence. The sun-drenched and inviting breakfast nook serves as the ideal, casual, everyday counterpart to the adjacent kitchen.

Inspiration for a transitional kitchen remodel in Grand Rapids

This modern kitchen blends light wood cabinetry with crisp white finishes for a clean and inviting look. A large quartz island serves as the centerpiece, offering space for cooking, dining, and gathering. Natural light fills the room, highlighting the minimalist design and open layout. The result is a bright and functional kitchen that feels both contemporary and welcoming.

The client envisioned a laundry room that radiates cheerfulness and playful charm while maintaining the home’s overall refined elegance. Drenched in Sherwin Williams Upward, a soft, airy blue-gray, the classic Shaker cabinetry feels fresh and timeless, complemented by brass hardware from the Rejuvenation Eloise collection and a crisp white quartz countertop. Cole & Son’s iconic large-scale flamingo wallpaper in muted cream and charcoal and the Visual Comfort Hampton chandelier in plaster white adds just the right dose of whimsy while hand-painted-look floor tiles from Best Tile in black and cream bring vintage European charm. Clean vertical-groove paneling keeps the space light and classic, and a brass shelf-hung drying rod from Rejuvenation offers both function and subtle sparkle. A walnut table with turned legs and woven baskets provides the perfect landing spot for folding and finishing touches.
