Inspiration for a transitional dark wood floor single front door remodel in Dallas with white walls and a glass front door

This client came to us with a very clear vision of what she wanted, but she needed help to refine and execute the design. At our first meeting she described her style as somewhere between modern rustic and ‘granny chic’ – she likes cozy spaces with nods to the past, but also wanted to blend that with the more contemporary tastes of her husband and children. Functionally, the old layout was less than ideal with an oddly placed 3-sided fireplace and angled island creating traffic jams in and around the kitchen. By creating a U-shaped layout, we clearly defined the chef’s domain and created a circulation path that limits disruptions in the heart of the kitchen. While still an open concept, the black cabinets, bar height counter and change in flooring all add definition to the space. The vintage inspired black and white tile is a nod to the past while the black stainless range and matte black faucet are unmistakably modern.
High on our client’s wish list was eliminating upper cabinets and keeping the countertops clear. In order to achieve this, we needed to ensure there was ample room in the base cabinets and reconfigured pantry for items typically stored above. The full height tile backsplash evokes exposed brick and serves as the backdrop for the custom wood-clad hood and decorative brass sconces – a perfect blend of rustic, modern and chic. Black and brass elements are repeated throughout the main floor in new hardware, lighting, and open shelves as well as the owners’ curated collection of family heirlooms and furnishings. In addition to renovating the kitchen, we updated the entire first floor with refinished hardwoods, new paint, wainscoting, wallcovering and beautiful new stained wood doors. Our client had been dreaming and planning this kitchen for 17 years and we’re thrilled we were able to bring it to life.

This kids' bath features a double vanity and fun pop of green on the mirror frame and cabinet fronts. Floors were done in a simple white penny round and the vanity consists of Caesarstone countertops and undermount Kohler Ladena sinks.

The renovation of this classic Muskoka cottage, focused around re-designing the living space to make the most of the incredible lake views. This update completely changed the flow of space, aligning the living areas with a more modern & luxurious living context.
In collaboration with the client, we envisioned a home in which clean lines, neutral tones, a variety of textures and patterns, and small yet luxurious details created a fresh, engaging space while seamlessly blending into the natural environment.
The main floor of this home was completely gutted to reveal the true beauty of the space. Main floor walls were re-engineered with custom windows to expand the client’s majestic view of the lake.
The dining area was highlighted with features including ceilings finished with Shadowline MDF, and enhanced with a custom coffered ceiling bringing dimension to the space.
Unobtrusive details and contrasting textures add richness and intrigue to the space, creating an energizing yet soothing interior with tactile depth.

A mix of white painted and stained walnut cabinetry, with brass accents in the hardware and lighting - make this kitchen the showstopper in the house. Cezanne quartzite brings in color and movement to the countertops, and the brass mosaic backsplash adds texture and great visual interest to the walls.

The complementary colors of a natural stone wall, bluestone caps and a bluestone pathway with welcoming sitting area give this home a unique look.

This homeowner has long since moved away from his family farm but still visits often and thought it was time to fix up this little house that had been neglected for years. He brought home ideas and objects he was drawn to from travels around the world and allowed a team of us to help bring them together in this old family home that housed many generations through the years. What it grew into is not your typical 150 year old NC farm house but the essence is still there and shines through in the original wood and beams in the ceiling and on some of the walls, old flooring, re-purposed objects from the farm and the collection of cherished finds from his travels.

Designed by Interior Designer, A. Lantz Design, this Lake Charlevoix project was featured on the cover of Traditional Home magazine!
This home's side entry is in between the home's garage access and laundry room. A perfect location to slip in and kick off one's Sperry's or rain boots. A perfect built-in bench adds functional seating and plenty of storage. We covered the walls with a beautiful navy blue grass cloth wallcovering to add texture to the small space without over powering it. The slate-colored concrete floor tiles cool the space while the rattan circular rug and fluidity and warmth.

You would hardly guess that this bungalow was all sorts of boring brown before we got our hands on it! With a classic blend of blue and white cabinetry in the kitchen and gorgeous warm handmade tile accents, the interior view of this home is now just as beautiful as it’s stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. Changing the corner door to the pantry was a game changer in bringing this kitchen back up to date - be sure to see the before photos on Instagram!

Our busy Silicon Valley clients asked us to convert their tight-quartered 1960’s ranch house to a gracious family home that would meet their long term needs. Ease of living was paramount, both in functionality and in ordered design.
The project was completed on a moderate budget. While retaining most of the structure of the existing house to avoid costly structural changes, we opened walls to improve the sight lines and flow of the house and bring in more light. We made small additions at the front and back bedrooms to gain space for the family and relatives. An existing underused patio area was improved with a simple outdoor kitchen and overhang to extend the living space to the outside. Costs were kept down with choices of modest materials.
Everything was made to be functional. Ample storage has been built into the right places. The details of the kitchen were carefully worked out to accommodate all the wishes of the various cooks in the family. The house is set up to be easy to keep clean. Acoustic walls separate living from bedroom spaces so adults can enjoy time together while children sleep. The outdoor kitchen has easy access to the indoor kitchen and the garage, and its setup promotes socializing while cooking outdoors.
A large part of the narrow back yard was previously unusable space due to a steep slope up to a neighbor’s higher fence. With a new retaining wall and some re-grading we took back more of the yard for the patio and play space on a new lawn.
The remodeled house is a mix of contemporary and traditional elements. Cool colors have a calming effect. Traditional items such as prairie style windows, trellis, mosaic tiles, and Shaker style cabinets, break down the scale in an otherwise streamlined, contemporary design. A new gabled roof with a broad arch at the front of the house marks the entry and resolves a challenging form where the central entry is set back from walls on both sides.

This image showcases a vibrant and rustic kitchen with bold red cabinetry that adds a lively touch to the space. A large kitchen island with a black stone countertop and upholstered seating provides a functional and stylish area for dining or prep work. Exposed wood beams and reclaimed timber elements create a warm, farmhouse-inspired aesthetic, complemented by open shelving and stainless steel appliances. The subway tile backsplash and industrial pendant lighting add modern touches, while natural elements like sunflowers and fresh produce bring warmth and charm to this inviting, open-concept kitchen.
