this client owns a Victorian Home in Essex county NJ and asked me to design a fireplace surround that was appropriate for the space and hid the television. The mirror you see in the photo is actually a 2-way mirror and if you look closely at the center section of the mantle, the remote speaker for the TV is built in. The fretwork pattern adds a lovely detail and the super columns (column on top of column) fit perfectly in the design scheme.

Homeowners whose homes do not have a fireplace often decide to install an electric linear fireplace instead. Ronny used GenStone's Northern Slate Stacked Stone panels to surround his linear fireplace design in this DIY project. The blue and gray tones of the faux stone draw the eye and complement the blue linear fireplace. Ronny finished off the look with a big, gray wooden mantel.

The family room opens up from the kitchen and then again onto the back, screened in porch for an open floor plan that makes a cottage home seem wide open. The gray walls with transom windows and white trim are soothing; the brick fireplace with white surround is a stunning focal point. The hardwood floors set off the room. And then we have the ceiling - wow, what a ceiling - washed butt board and coffered. What a great gathering place for family and friends.
