This cozy white traditional kitchen was redesigned to provide an open concept feel to the dining area. The dark wood ceiling beams, clear glass cabinet doors,open plate shelves, Bianco Sardo granite countertops and white subway tile backsplash unite the quaint space.

The original back door was where the small square window is. We moved it around to the side and it now opens into a mudroom that we made from closet space from the family room. The new banquet has a pullout feeding station for the dog and is upholstered in outdoor fabric (which is more childproof). The gold bird wallpaper was original. This small patio idea was inspired by our Blu Grande Smooth slab. Its smooth texture is sleek to the eye but rougher to the touch which avoids it from getting slippery when wet. The large rectangular shape works as an easy add-on into Blu 60 regular modular patterns but can also work as a stand-alone to create a very linear look. This Garage Guesthouse was born when my wife and I built a new home and I realized that it was perfect except for one thing: I really wanted and needed a space of my own. That, and a good friend once told me that if one could ever justify the cost of a Guest House, we and our guests would prefer the arrangement. And so was born a simple, yet attractive, highly energy-efficient 18' x 22' timber framed Garage/Workshop with an upstairs that currently serves as a Guest House--but could also be a studio, home office, or Airbnb. The White Oak timber frame is enclosed by highly efficient pre-cut structural insulated panels, and is heated and cooled by a Mitsubishi split unit.
