Kitchen - transitional kitchen idea in New York

Our goal for this project was to make the kitchen larger with more work space and make the space brighter. We built Transitional, full overlay cabinets with shaker doors and painted the perimeter cabinets with Simple White (Benjamin Moore) with a Leathered Absolute Black Granite countertop. The Island is painted Software (Sherwin Williams) with a Rustic Pecan Countertop. We also Built a custom Dry bar, window seat in the living area and added a beautiful Fireplace mantle with floating shelves. This space is functional, bright and the perfect space for entertaining Family and Friends!

Sub-Zero refrigerator disguised to look like a white lacquer Chinese Wedding Cabinet. Refrigerator hardware (Door Pull and Drawer Pulls) are by Rocky Mountain Hardware. The medallion and the hinges, on the refrigerator, were plated to match the hardware. Other information: Alaska White granite countertops. Unstained walnut cabinet drawers with Rocky Mountain Hardware. Computer monitor displays photo slideshows. White oak floor with a light stain. Pendents by Tech Lighting.

This kitchen was designed to look authentically craftsman, with beautiful quartersawn oak cabinets, a farmhouse sink, 3x6" crema marfil marble backsplash, and honed opalescence countertops. It has some modern conveniences too, like in-ceiling speakers, and a computer in the cabinet.

A farmhouse style was achieved in this new construction home by keeping the details clean and simple. Shaker style cabinets and square stair parts moldings set the backdrop for incorporating our clients’ love of Asian antiques. We had fun re-purposing the different pieces she already had: two were made into bathroom vanities; and the turquoise console became the star of the house, welcoming visitors as they walk through the front door.
