Our most recent modern farmhouse in the west Willamette Valley is what dream homes are made of. Named “Starry Night Ranch” by the homeowners, this 3 level, 4 bedroom custom home boasts of over 9,000 square feet of combined living, garage and outdoor spaces. Well versed in the custom home building process, the homeowners spent many hours partnering with both Shan Stassens of Winsome Construction and Buck Bailey Design to add in countless unique features, including a cross hatched cable rail system, a second story window that perfectly frames a view of Mt. Hood and an entryway cut-out to keep a specialty piece of furniture tucked out of the way. From whitewashed shiplap wall coverings to reclaimed wood sliding barn doors to mosaic tile and honed granite, this farmhouse-inspired space achieves a timeless appeal with both classic comfort and modern flair.

This 1000 sqf addition & remodel in the heart of downtown on West Annie Street was meant to be a retreat for its owner. The addition consists of a dining & gallery open to the outside with a U-shaped courtyard. The outdoor sitting allows for light penetration to the indoors and entertaining. A master suite and bathroom were added with high ceilings and windows which again allow the flow of natural light. A remodel was also done to the existing bathroom and kitchen.

Immediately after construction, mulch color is important, but permanent dyes in mulch are not important if the plants are expected to fill in within a year or two.

Another fun Crestview project! This young couple wanted a back yard that reflected their bohemian-eclectic style and could add additional privacy from the ever climbing construction around them. A place for “hanging out and drinking coffee or beer in the backyard.” But what was most exciting, was the air stream they had just purchased and were in the process of restoring. With the end goal of using it as a guest home for family and friends, we were challenged with creating a space that was cohesive and connected this new living space with the rest of the yard. In the front we had another quark to fix. The sidewalk from their front door to the street suddenly stopped 5 feet from the curb, making a less than inviting entry for guests. So, creating a new usable entryway with additional curb appeal was a top priority. We managed the entertainment space by using modern poured concrete pad’s as a focal. A poured concrete wall serves as a bench as well as creates a visual anchor for the patio area. To soften the hard materials, small plantings of succulents and ground cover were planted in the spaces between the pads. For a backdrop, a custom Cedar Plank wall and trellis combined to soften the vertical space and add plenty of privacy. The trellis is anchored by a Coral Vine to add interest. Cafe style lighting was strung across the area create a sense of intimacy. We also completed the fence transition, and eliminated the grass areas that were not being utilized to reduce the amount of water waste in the landscape, and replaced these areas with beneficial plantings for the wildlife. Instead of updating the deck railing infill using pressure-treated wood, the homeowners chose galvanized livestock panels. These panels are also sometimes referred to as “hog wire” panels and are an up-and-coming design element many savvy homeowners are integrating into their outdoor living spaces.

Inspiration for a mid-sized traditional backyard garden path in Houston.

This four level TimberTech Terrain deck features a main deck that wraps around half of the house, a utility deck that leads to a brick walkway, an upper dry deck that protects the utility deck from rain using TimberTech DrySpace, and a garden deck that looks over the picturesque landscape. To provide an unobstructed view, the homeowners chose to combine hog panels with painted cedar handrails.
