This home in Las Campanas, built in the late 80’s, was a major remodel for Diva Interior Design and took more than two years to complete. The home was given a fresh, new look with new sandstone and custom wood flooring through-out the house. All of the baths were remodeled with new tile, stone and plumbing fixtures. The master bath was transformed into a luxury spa and the master closet was expanded to meet the needs of the new owners, with built cabinets for specific storage needs. Cabinets were refinished, walls were re-plastered and painted and all the lighting was redone. After completing the remodeling, Diva designed and furnished the entire house, working with the clients to design a very personalized aesthetic to blend their extensive collection of art and artifacts collected over a lifetime of travel and living in all parts of Europe and Russia. Custom pieces were designed using carving details from Nicolai Fetchin, the Russian artist and carver that lived in Taos and had a great impact on New Mexico style.

This modern bathroom remodel features a simplistic design with huge impact. The Touch Summer SBN tile wainscotting doubles as the shower surround. The wall mounted vanity displays a beautiful contrast between the white countertop and wood finish cabinetry. The white bathtub and chrome fixtures complete this clean, modern look.

This transformation started with a builder grade bathroom and was expanded into a sauna wet room. With cedar walls and ceiling and a custom cedar bench, the sauna heats the space for a relaxing dry heat experience. The goal of this space was to create a sauna in the secondary bathroom and be as efficient as possible with the space. This bathroom transformed from a standard secondary bathroom to a ergonomic spa without impacting the functionality of the bedroom. This project was super fun, we were working inside of a guest bedroom, to create a functional, yet expansive bathroom. We started with a standard bathroom layout and by building out into the large guest bedroom that was used as an office, we were able to create enough square footage in the bathroom without detracting from the bedroom aesthetics or function. We worked with the client on her specific requests and put all of the materials into a 3D design to visualize the new space. We started this design with a clean slate of high ceilings and white walls which was perfect for installing floral wallpaper on an accent wall. The wallpaper is removable and features an oversized floral pattern in soft blush and light pink tones, and the leaves a soft sage green. The gorgeous crib and dresser both from Newport Cottages has gold and acrylic hardware and were the centerpiece of the design. We added gold and blush decor and accents throughout the space the match the furniture. The client had her heart set on a blush glider. Looking through custom fabrics from Best Home Furnishing we found the perfect shade. With delicate tufted back the gilder is really stands out. The gold framed large family photos really makes a big impact in the space. The off white velvet blackout curtains have a luxurious feel and paired the golden curtain it fits the space perfectly. The project didn’t call for any structural or space planning changes but the makeover still had a massive impact on their home. The homeowners wanted to change their dated 1990’s brown speckled granite and light maple kitchen. They liked the welcoming feeling they got from the wood and warm tones in their current kitchen, but this style clashed with their vision of a deVOL type kitchen, a London-based furniture company. Their inspiration came from the country homes of the UK that mix the warmth of traditional detail with clean lines and modern updates. To create their vision, we started with all new framed cabinets with a modified overlay painted in beautiful, understated colors. Our clients were adamant about “no white cabinets.” Instead we used an oyster color for the perimeter and a custom color match to a specific shade of green chosen by the homeowner. The use of a simple color pallet reduces the visual noise and allows the space to feel open and welcoming. We also painted the trim above the cabinets the same color to make the cabinets look taller. The room trim was painted a bright clean white to match the ceiling. In true English fashion our clients are not coffee drinkers, but they LOVE tea. We created a tea station for them where they can prepare and serve tea. We added plenty of glass to showcase their tea mugs and adapted the cabinetry below to accommodate storage for their tea items. Function is also key for the English kitchen and the homeowners. They requested a deep farmhouse sink and a cabinet devoted to their heavy mixer because they bake a lot. We then got rid of the stovetop on the island and wall oven and replaced both of them with a range located against the far wall. This gives them plenty of space on the island to roll out dough and prepare any number of baked goods. We then removed the bifold pantry doors and created custom built-ins with plenty of usable storage for all their cooking and baking needs. The client wanted a big change to the dining room but still wanted to use their own furniture and rug. We installed a toile-like wallpaper on the top half of the room and supported it with white wainscot paneling. We also changed out the light fixture, showing us once again that small changes can have a big impact. As the final touch, we also re-did the powder room to be in line with the rest of the first floor. We had the new vanity painted in the same oyster color as the kitchen cabinets and then covered the walls in a whimsical patterned wallpaper. Located in Menlo Park, California, this 3,000 sf. remodel was carefully crafted to generate excitement and make maximum use of the owner’s strict budget and comply with the city’s stringent planning code. It was understood that not everything was to be redone from a prior owner’s quirky remodel which included odd inward angled walls, circular windows and cedar shingles. Remedial work to remove and prevent dry rot ate into the budget as well. Studied alterations to the exterior include a new trellis over the garage door, pushing the entry out to create a new soaring stair hall and stripping the exterior down to simplify its appearance. The new steel entry stair leads to a floating bookcase that pivots to the family room. For budget reasons, it was decided to keep the existing cedar shingles. Upstairs, a large oak multi-level staircase was replaced with the new simple run of stairs.
