This rustic style home on Hartwell Lake was designed and built for the owners to enjoy with family and friends during their active weekend lifestyle. The home was built on a narrow, deep lot that was semi-level on the roadside and steep on the lakeside. The back half of the lot heavily wooded with mature oak and poplar trees reducing the harsh sun’s heat gain on the home. The exterior utilizes fiber cement cedar shake and lap siding complimented by deep brown colors for the windows, soffit, trim and the large square columns. A nice balance of natural earth toned stacked stone rounds out the exterior materials completing the rustic casual lake living. The home 5400 SF is designed and built on thee levels each having a primary focus. The main level creates primary daily living for the owners. This level features an open plan with an entry, stair, dining, kitchen and living areas leading to a large lakeside screened porch. A master suite is privately tucked off its own hallway and allowing it to enjoy the lakeside as well with its own private deck. On the opposite side are two bedrooms, a study and a shared bathroom for each to utilize. An open carport for two vehicles was created with the motor court and connects to the mudroom/utility room giving the owners direct entry into their home. The upper level is for the grand children with an oversized bedroom, bathroom and loft area for play. The lower level is the considered the party level. Its primary feature is an elevated stage for the owner’s band opened to a large seating area, dining and kitchen for viewing and listening with direct access to another screened porch. Flanking each side is a theater and two additional bedrooms and bathrooms. Energy Efficient features include: • The majority of the lower level sunk into the site below grade • 6” thick walls utilizing advanced framing techniques • Foil covered roof sheathing • Extensive use of blown in cellulous • All windows & doors are double paned low E argon filed glass • Tank-less water heaters • Three separate high efficiency HVAC units with programmable thermostats and a fresh air ERV. Lastly the owner requested we make every effort to sound proof the home. Many materials and techniques gave a duel purpose and added to the energy efficiency. These items include: • 2x6 walls with staggered studs • Extensive use if rock wool acoustic batting • Tempered glass in all exterior doors and windows • ¼ thick Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) was installed on the top and bottom of the floor trusses and on all lower level walls. The combination of the design and detailing utilizing these specific materials enabled us to achieve a 5 Star Plus Energy Star Certification with a HERS Index Score of 50. This home received a the 2015 Pinnacle Award from the SC Home Builders Association for the “Best Achievement in Energy Efficiency” sponsored by the SC Department Commerce.

How do you take advantage of a large space when designing a walk in master closet? Our design started with creating His and Her dedicated space, including drawers designed for their specific needs. For the design, the white cabinets were finished with shaker drawer fronts and glass doors for displaying favorite items. For utility, Shoe shelves and a built in hamper helped organize and keep things neat and tidy.

Complete remodel of existing kitchen. Two walls were removed for an open feel into the Family Room. A bar height counter was added for comfortable seating and eating. Cabinets and counter tops extend the length of the back wall for much needed storage. Appliances are a must for this couple. Specific storage was put in place for easy access to each item.

Xtreme Renovations has completed a Major Renovation Project near the Tomball area of Harris County. This project required demolition of the existing Kitchen Cabinetry and removing fur downs, rerouting HVAC Registers, Electrical and installation of Natural Gas lines for converting from an All Electric Kitchen to Natural Gas cooktop with an Xtreme Exhaust System above the new gas cooktop. Existing walls wear moved during the demolition process to expand the original footprint of the Kitchen to include additional cabinetry and relocation of the new Double Oven as well as an open Pantry area. All new Custom Built Cabinetry were installed made from Maple wood and stained to the specification of our clients. New Quartz countertops were fabricated and installed throughout the Kitchen as well as a Bar Area in the Great Room which also included Custom Built Cabinetry. New tile flooring was installed throughout the Mud Room, Kitchen, Breakfast Area, Hall Way adjoining the Formal Dining Room and Powder Bath. Back splash included both Ceramic and Glass Tile to and a touch of class and the Wow Factor our clients desired and deserved. Major drywall work was required throughout the Kitchen, Great Room, Powder Bath and Breakfast Area. Many added features such as LED lighting on dimmers were installed throughout the Kitchen including under cabinet lighting. Installation of all new appliances was included in the Kitchen as well as the Bar Area in the Great Room. Custom Built Corner Cabinetry was also installed in the Formal Dining Room. Custom Built Crown Molding was also part of this project in the Great Room designed to match Crown Molding above doorways. Existing paneling was removed and replaced with drywall to add to this Major Update of the 1970’s constructed home. Floating, texturing and painting throughout both levels of this 2 Story Home was also completed. The existing stairway in the Great Room was removed and new Wrought Iron Spindles, Handrails, Hardwood Flooring were installed. New Carpeting and Hardwood Flooring were included in the Renovation Project. State of the Art CAT 6 cabling was installed in the entire home adding to the functionality of the New Home Entertainment and Computer Networking System as well as connectivity throughout the home. The Central hub area for the new cabling is climate controlled and vented for precise temperature control. Many other items were addressed during this Renovation Project including upgrading the Main Electrical Service, Custom Built Cabinetry throughout the Mud Room and creating a closet where the existing Double Oven was located with access to new shelving and coat racks in the Mud Room Area. Upon the deep dark espresso cabinets sits the contrasting countertop. The super glossy white stone with subtle swirls reflects the colors of the glass mosaics. We gave the peninsula a little overhang and pulled up an enticing contemporary stool. Although the kitchen space is fairly large, two walls contained openings to other spaces, while a third contained a large and sunny bay window. Rather than bottle neck our traffic flow, we chose to make the most of the walls we had. We started with a deep undermount stainless steel sink with a far-reaching faucet with pull out spray. Beside this, we placed our contemporary stainless steel dishwasher. To keep the feeling open and airy we installed dark floating shelves, which really pop against our multicolored glass backsplash. We added lighting under the bottom shelf for extra sparkle, as well as the perfect task lighting. We needed some wall cabinets, not just for storage but to compliment our microwave. Above the stainless steel stove our matching microwave serves multipurpose, from cooking, to venting, to task lighting the stove. When space counts, make the most of it. We nestled our stove beside the dishwasher, giving ourselves room for a landing zone at the end. The cooking area feels even more spacious set next to our large bay window. To give us the greatest amount of storage, we added a floor to ceiling pantry. Although it is only 12″ deep, it’s 48″ wide. The clean “slab” style door create an uncluttered look that compliments the patterning of the floor. We used 6″ x 24″ porcelain wood look flooring. This flooring exploded on the market not too long ago, giving you the look of hardwoods, without fear of water, dents and scratches. The floor will never need to be refinished, no matter how much abuse it takes. Look at all that storage. There’s even room on the bottom for that huge mixer we all seem to have. The pantry gives us plenty of room for all we need to store and it’s 12″ depth means it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. No more pulling out half your stored items just to find that product in the very back. We round out this fabulous kitchen with a full-sized, bottom freezer, French door refrigerator. Espresso panels encase the sides while a deep and tall upper cabinet gives us room to store some more. By placing the refrigerator between the two entrances to the kitchen, family and friends can get a beverage without getting in the cook’s way. To direct our lighting around the room and focus on specific areas, we used a long track of spot lights with a contemporary look. Dream backyard This Amazing Dream Backyard Project features just about all the options you have ever dreamed about having in your very own backyard. We just recently completed this project and as you can tell from the video and photos below it’s quite the dream backyard. But dreams can came true, and for these homeowners they certainly have. So proud of our team for coming together and installing another amazing backyard paradise. The outdoor living area features everything from fire to water and includes multiple travertine patio areas, flagstone and travertine walkways, stone steps, pondless waterfall, landscape lighting, outdoor audio, fire pit, and landscaping. To think were the project came from a decrepit old deck to this beautiful work of art is almost unreal! Travertine Patio and Fire Pit The dream backyard project included the installation of various hardscape items including travertine patio, Seating walls, Steps, and walkways. The patio material is silver travertine laid in French pattern. The patio area is approximately 1,012 sq ft with antiqued finish and natural edge. All walls and steps are constructed using natural stone Semco ‘Cedar Ridge’ sawn wall stone. Caps and stair treads are constructed of natural stone ‘Chateau Limestone’ 2″ thick and 14″ deep, thermal top and rock faced edges. Cap stone for grill wall is 18″ wide polished and sealed top. Under grill area the patio is outdoor ‘wood look’ porcelain tile. A Semco ‘Cedar Ridge’ 57″ Fire Pit with Large Zentro ‘Smokeless’ insert is installed on the lower patio area. As of these pictures and this video the fire pit insert has yet to be installed. Sealing of Travertine surfaces using GST stain blocking sealer will be completed once the project is entirely finished. Stepping stone pathway to the side of the home is full color Pa Flagstone irregular steppers. Landscaping Landscape beds, plants, trees, edging and mulching was done around the entire back and side yards of the home using triple cut bark mulch. Plant variety and size specifications were all chosen by our amazing designer Wes. The landscaping portion of this project also included the grading, lawn repair, and seeding of all the areas damaged and disturbed during construction. Pondless Waterfall A 15′ pondless waterfall was installed into the new landscape to the side of the lower patio for maximum viewing. The waterfall features approximately 15 foot of stream with multiple waterfalls. Two side by side spillways merge into a wide stream with a small waterfall before turning and going into the final falls at the basin area. The Waterfall is outfitted with low voltage LED underwater landscape lighting throughout. Outdoor Sound The Outdoor Sound System installed was a TRU Audio 4 speaker system and 12″ outdoor hardscape subwoofer. This system also includes the amplifier which is located in the home owners basement as well as Apple Airport Express and Blue Tooth Connection. Siding Siding work to be completed is still unfinished as of the time this video and pictures were shot. Siding was removed and salvaged in areas need for the patio and electrical work. Siding in areas of new outdoor living space to include: new vinyl siding on entire rear kitchen/bathroom wall from top to bottom as well as Piecing in around lights and sliding door on adjacent wall and in back of garage.

The client is mostly confined to a wheelchair and she asked us to design and produce a bathroom she could use in her chair for the sink, and have a bench she could slide across with the help of grab bars to help her access the overhead rain shower and handheld. Every aspect of this bathroom was designed with the client and made specific to her needs. We added a ceiling soffit with rope lights to create lighting along with fun surface mounted lights with added reflection. A floating shelf was installed under the mirror to hold items she needed. Rope lights were added under the shelving to reflect off the counter. The highly graphic tile picked out by the client stimulates the imagination. Within the shower room every area is water tight. A clever design with the niche was employed making the pony wall cap have double duty as a shelf within the niche.

When thinking about the items you would like to include in your design, also think about the features that you don't need. For example: This family loves to grill, but didn't think it was necessary to have a built-in kitchen. Knowing this piece of information, we created a specific place for their grill and they were able to take the money saved and apply it to something else of personal value for the space!
