We had an Ocean Blue Linoleum floor laid so she could paint and play without worrying about spills. I designed the bench to have cubbies built specifically for the matching bins and a bookshelf for storage. It is deep enough that we could use the little girls crib mattress for a bench perfect to snuggle while reading a book or to take a quick nap. A rope with clothes pins is a great spot to showcase her latest masterpiece. The father travels for work so we added a kids map for her to track Daddy. Tim Seibert

In previous projects similar to this one, the client said that the acoustics can sometimes be a bit off for their residents. This allows us to create art that has a dual purpose: art acoustical panels that are made with a full fiberglass core = Art with Benefits. The sound is able to travel through the printed acoustical fabric and be absorbed into the fiberglass. The images were created specific for the property through a custom photo shoot. There are (3) acoustical panels each to create diptych around doorway.

This landscape is intended to serve as a background to a social area and is situated on a steep shady slope leading up 20ft to a collection of existing natural tropical shrubs and trees. As the existing vegetation dominated so much of the view of from the area, the idea was to merge natural and man-made by using a very specific set of shade tolerant tropical plants to populate the wall. This increases the scale of the landscape as it travels out far beyond the borders of the property into the rest of the area’s scenery.

This master bath was an explosion of travertine and beige. The clients wanted an updated space without the expense of a full remodel. We layered a textured faux grasscloth and painted the trim to soften the tones of the tile. The existing cabinets were painted a bold blue and new hardware dressed them up. The crystal chandelier and mirrored sconces add sparkle to the space. New larger mirrors bring light into the space and a soft linen roman shade with embellished tassel fringe frames the bathtub area. Our favorite part of the space is the well traveled Turkish rug to add some warmth and pattern to the space.

Asheville-based Goldsplinter Woodworking traveled to San Diego, CA to help a great client and audiophile pal relocate from NC. This large, built-in, walnut entertainment center was design specifically to hold a robust jazz collection on vinyl. Dimmable LED lighting, component storage and hand-carved details helped turn a large empty room into a very comfy listening lair.

After having lived in 22 different places all around the world, this family decided to settle in a Dutch colonial home in Harding Township. The house sits on a wonderful piece of property that is only challenged by the wetlands that surround it. For this reason, we had to work within the existing footprint and not consider any additions. The homeowners wanted to be able to host the holidays in their new home which meant we had an aggressive design and construction schedule. We started the design work in the Spring of 2012 and construction took place over the Summer and into the Fall. By Thanksgiving, the project was complete, with no meaningful cost overruns. Renovations included a new kitchen, mudroom, and office/library on the first floor and a new master suite, hall bath, home office, and laundry room upstairs. The challenge was creating comfortable space with clean lines that would accommodate the homeowner’s casual and worldly lifestyle, but would not feel out of place with the character of the existing house. The kitchen is a glorious hard-working space with lots of counter space, space for a giant farmer’s table, and symmetrical views through oversized double hung-windows out to the expansive yard. The master bath is outfitted with wood, stone, and metal, and also includes artifacts from some of their world travels. In a second phase of work, we designed some outbuilding to further enhance the character of the property. Currently we are working with the family to design a memorial to honor their child who died of Leukemia.
