When it came time for these homeowners to tackle their kitchen remodel we didn’t have to look very far for inspiration. This husband and wife duo love mid-century styling and already had several iconic pieces sprinkled throughout their home. We used that as our jumping off point for developing a palette for their new kitchen. Keeping their original golden oak floors meant finding a cabinet that would be complimentary. We settled on a natural walnut slab style door paired with white high-gloss acrylic uppers to keep this small kitchen grounded in it’s mid-century beginnings while visually opening up the room. The marble slab backsplash was a splurge item for this project but an element we felt really helped finish the space. Paired with an all white quartz countertop this small kitchen looks both appropriate to the home and has all the features of a brand new kitchen!

The homeowners of this old home in Greenwood Village, Colorado wanted two things: a space large enough to hold the dinner and cocktail parties they often hosted for business, and adhering to a strong traditional French design. The hardscape and custom pergolas are the foundation for a large entertaining area large enough for several tables. A Campania International fountain from Birdsall & Co. in a custom-made basin provides the focal point to the dining area. Several levels of retaining walls provide not only symmetry, accentuated by planted cast stone containers and pedestals, but also space for a bocce ball court at the highest level. A built-in barbecue and fire pit surrounding by teak Adirondack chairs make for a more intimate dining and conversation space, balancing out similar 'outdoor rooms' sprinkled throughout the landscape. Gravel pathways are reminiscent of traditional French gardens.

When our long-time clients, decidedly urban dwellers, de-camped from the city to the suburbs in 2019, we helped them remake their “too-traditional” new house into a home that better fit their style. A recently-completed house by a developer, we set-out from day one to sprinkle their preferred contemporary, more-urban-than-suburban style throughout the spaces. All without major architectural changes. We changed all the decorative lighting and doors throughout the home to allow the architecture to better align with their style. The home is now layered with clean-lines, modern fabrics, vibrant colors, and contemporary art. The result is the perfect coexistence of contemporary and traditional – without letting either feel out of place.

Designed for a family who is relocating back to California, this contemporary residence sits atop a severely steep site in the community of Las Ventanas. Working with the topography led to some creative design solutions, structurally and aesthetically, to accommodate all of the family’s programatic needs. The 4127 s.f. home fits into the relatively small building footprint while an infinity edge pool cantilevers 22′ above grade. With spectacular views of the Arroyo Grande foothills and farms, this main pool deck becomes a major feature of the home. All living spaces, including the great room and kitchen open up to this deck, ideal for relaxation and entertainment. Given that the owners are dog lovers, this outdoor space also serves as an area for the pets adjacent to the main living space. The design includes multiple water features sprinkled throughout the site which further facilitate the feeling of a calming hillside retreat.
The use of warm IPE hardwood siding and stone cladding blend the structure into the surrounding landscape while still offering a clean and contemporary aesthetic.

Though the kitchen was only 10 years old, it felt dated and lacked the style the new homeowners desired. The storage was dysfunctional, the window over the small sink did not let in enough light. The existing hood was placed too low and the double ovens where too high making it almost impossible to use the upper oven. The solution was to redesign the kitchen with maximized function and storage while using light colors, transitional details, and clean lines. The tall 57” upper cabinets add a dramatic touch and feature glass inserts to display special pieces and add a touch of ambient lighting to the kitchen. In every drawer and pullout hides accessories and specialized storage compartments to keep the new kitchen organized and efficient. The new island now seats the family of four comfortably. A mixture of brushed and polished stainless steel and nickel accents are sprinkled throughout the kitchen and compliment the custom hammered sink and metal hood each crafted by a local artisan.
