The entire first floor is oriented toward an expansive row of windows overlooking Lake Champlain. Radiant heated polished concrete floors compliment white oak detailing and painted cabinetry. A scandinavian-style slatted wood stairwell keeps the space airy and helps preserve sight lines to the water from the entry.

The old basement was a warren of random rooms with low bulkheads crisscrossing the space. A laundry room was awkwardly located right off the family room and blocked light from one of the windows. We reconfigured/resized the ductwork to minimize the impact on ceiling heights and relocated the laundry in order to expand the family room and allow space for a kid's art corner. The natural wood slat wall keeps the stairway feeling open and is a real statement piece; additional space was captured under the stairs for storage cubbies to keep clutter at bay.

The home maintains beautiful original detail including lovely arched double entry way doors, thick frames and pocket doors and elaborate crown moldings. There is also a lovely, very large garden.

To give more living space we designed and renovated this basement. The high ceilings made this space feel even bigger, the open space is modern and will be a fantastic family room. The ceramic tiles imitate hard wood floors but are easy to clean, the staircase connecting the 2 floors was completely re-built with a contemporary look that compliments the space.

2,500 square foot home for an architect located in SIloam Springs, Arkansas.
