A French-Normandy style home surrounded by traditional gardens and modern amenities, this was a restoration planned to match the home. The gardens are formal, with straight lines and perfect hedges, with a fountain as a focal point in the most formal garden. Expansive lawns on different levels are also prevalent. Spaces are connected with paths: some formal, some rustic, and some covered. And of course there is a living room with fireplace, an outdoor kitchen and dining area, a pool with a pergola for shade, and a vegetable garden as part of the design. Irregular fieldstone steps lead to walking path. Masses of groundcover and perennials soften the edges of the steps and help to retain grade on a steep slope.

These granite and manufactured bluestone steps make for a great path through this multi-level garden. Cobblestone edging bookends the steps adding interest and support.

The perimeter overflow infinity pool empties into a trough outside the living room walkout. A unique stepping stone path on a narrow shelf appears to float just above the waterline. The yard is totally secluded with high privacy fences and a shade structure across the back. Climbing vines along one side and a grove of bamboo on the other soften the hardscapes and stand in contrast to the pool’s premium black pebble interior.

The previously modest entry is now highlighted by an enlarged entry door with exterior lights and a wide stepping stone path. New window openings were delicately created to provide a dynamic composition.

It's backyard entertaining at it's finest. Quartzite Ledge stone panels cover the bar in two tones. The dark Midnight Black is contrasted against the lighter Oyster Shell and stainless and black granite counter top. You can see yourself gathering about this bar with friends any day of the week.
