This contemporary gourmet kitchen is inspired by the urban restaurant kitchen. It features bamboo and white slab doors, stainless steel open shelves, stainless framed glass doors and appliance garages. All the counter surfaces are Ceasarstone quartz. The stainless details of the uppers reappear in the form of stainless hardware, toe kicks on the warm tones of the bamboo base cabinets.

Functional Closet: This closet offers an elegant and functional solution for all your storage needs. With spacious open compartments, multiple shelves, and a well-organized layout, it ensures everything has its place. The rich wood design adds warmth and sophistication, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The built-in hooks and lower cubbies provide additional storage options, perfect for shoes, bags, and accessories. Ideal for those seeking organization and style in their home.

Laminate built in storage for outdoor clothing keeps you and your belongings organized. An orange panel in the back adds a pop of color to the space. A mini bar includes a built in cooler and ample storage options for maximum organization.

I changed out the existing kitchen cabinets into a lighter shade as the originals were way too dark for the space making the home seem too dark in this area. The lighting was switched from a large (garage style) lighting to a softer more decorative option and two of the can lights were switched out to add pendant lighting over the peninsula. The flooring was carried through all the way from the foyer, throughout the dining area and into the kitchen to make the rooms feel like one and feel like a larger space. I added seating and storage to the breakfast nook by adding a window seat with built-in storage. Creating more storage space in the home was essential because the original 1960s home had small closets and lacked proper modern storage options. And by adding storage into the kitchen gave an area to add space for some of the larger kitchen items that people have in their homes today. I also took advantage of an open space in the peninsula and made room for a wine cooler. We also increased the area where the refrigerator was located to make the space larger for a more commonly sized refrigerator for today's home owner. Photo Credit: Kimberly Schneider

THEME The theme in this space is defined by the design and flow of the rest of this beautiful contemporary home. They needed the space to blend with the home while still providing the youngest family members with all the enjoyment of a dedicated play room. FOCUS The focus of this space changes with the configuration of the modular pieces around the room. One configuration could put focus on the television for movie night, another could create a stage for a musical performance, while another could close off the kids play area all together keeping the focus on adult conversation. Every configuration provides focus on the activity or plans for that moment. STORAGE Each of the modular pieces includes multiple storage options. The multimedia section ensures that all electronic equipment and remote devices have a dedicated home no matter where the section is placed. The large dedicated storage unit provides open blocks that can be filled with baskets of toys or books while creating the perfect wall in any configuration. The magnetic section allows for display of artwork or calendars while the lower box provides closed storage and a cushioned seating area. GROWTH These modular pieces will always be a useful and functional addition to this space providing the family with endless configuration options ensuring that the space will mature with the family. SAFETY Safety is always a concern and modular pieces require added attention to stability and security to ensure that they will provide the desired flexible functionality along with the safety of built in elements. Custom made brackets lock the sections together at multiple points to keep them linked once placed and the rolling castors under each section also lock into place to ensure that they will not continue to move across the floor.

Why transFORM one closet when you can transFORM them all? Earlier this year a Scarsdale couple decided to completely renovate their stone tudor, located in the Heart of Fox Meadow. Naturally, the repeat customers called upon transFORM’s Senior Designer, Ileen Greenberg, to revamp a variety of closets throughout the home, including the front foyer closet, hallway utility closet, basement storage closet, second bedroom closet and of course, the master walk-in closet. The Master Walk-In Closet was custom crafted, meticulously manufactured and intricately installed to fit the allotted space. Doubled as a dressing room, this area includes a ton of storage options like tilt-out hampers, front-to-back valet rods, velvet lined jewelry drawers, open and closed adjustable shelving, drawers and more. Wide slanted and flat shoe shelves were installed, allowing the homeowner to identify and grab their favorite footwear quickly and easily. As you can see, decorative cabinet doors, a large custom mirror, base trim molding and crown molding create a sophisticated and classic space you won't want to leave. Ileen also emphasized the importance of good lighting to enhance these newly designed features. Specifically, the closet was equipped with a combination of LED lighting like under-mounted shelf lights and sensor activated drawer lights to make the contents of the dressing room fully visible. Melamine was the material of choice - it's always an attractive option for closets due to its durability. It’s extremely difficult to scratch, and very easy to clean. Overall, a truly exceptional job by Ileen and the transFORM team!

AV Architects + Builders Location: Great Falls, VA, USA Our modern farm style home design was exactly what our clients were looking for. They had the charm and the landscape they wanted, but needed a boost to help accommodate a family of four. Our design saw us tear down their existing garage and transform the space into an entertaining family friendly kitchen. This addition moved the entry of the home to the other side and switched the view of the kitchen on the side of the home with more natural light. As for the ceilings, we went ahead and changed the traditional 7’8” ceilings to a 9’4” ceiling. Our decision to approach this home with smart design resulted in removing the existing stick frame roof and replacing it with engineered trusses to have a higher and wider roof, which allowed for the open plan to be implemented without the use of supporting beams. And once the finished product was complete, our clients had a home that doubled in space and created many more opportunities for entertaining and relaxing in style. Stacy Zarin Photography

This large space did not function well for this family of 6. The cabinetry they had did not go to the ceiling and offered very poor storage options. The island that existed was tiny in comparrison to the space. By taking the cabinets to the ceiling, enlarging the island and adding large pantry's we were able to achieve the storage needed. Then the fun began, all of the decorative details that make this space so stunning. Beautiful tile for the backsplash and a custom metal hood. Lighting and hardware to complement the hood. Then, the vintage runner and natural wood elements to make the space feel more homey.
