The 7400-square foot custom lake home is the ultimate combination of luxury and utility. Comfortable and durable are words that sometimes don’t mix, however, with careful consideration, planning and performance in mind, the Design Team was able to create a summer retreat - with two separate living and entertaining spaces – for kids and adults that’s low on maintenance and high on style.
Streamlined contemporary décor seamlessly mixes with the lakeside views; the home was designed to utilize natural light and captivating views. The home’s one-of-a-kind details include spectacular designer lighting, a bunk room and hanging outdoor bed.

Welcome to a newly built home in Redwood City, crafted from the ground up with over 25 years of skilled construction expertise. Original home was demolished. Every detail was thoughtfully designed to meet city standards, limitations, and requirements—resulting in a residence that feels light, crisp, and deeply connected to nature. Wood floors run throughout the home, creating warmth and continuity from the moment you step inside.
*Entry & Living Spaces*
As you enter through the clean, modern 8-foot door—perfectly aligned with the 9-foot ceiling—you’re greeted by a bright, open feel. The living room centers around a custom fireplace clad in artistic tile, paired with a built-in TV stand. Directly across, double sliding doors invite natural light and seamless indoor-outdoor living. The entire home enjoys a ceiling of 9' with a combination of vaulted ceiling in the primary bedroom.
*Kitchen – The Heart of the Home*
The kitchen is the true centerpiece. Designed with an open concept and surrounded by generous windows, it features quartz on both the countertops and full-height walls for a luxurious, cohesive aesthetic. A large island—topped with a full slab of quartz—anchors the room, offering extra space between the island and main counters for comfortable movement and entertainment. Two elegant clear pendant lights highlight its presence. Outfitted with top-tier luxury appliances designed for both performance and visual refinement.
White cabinetry keeps the look clean and minimalist, while oversized drawers provide functional storage for cooking utensils. The induction cooktop, paired with a pot filler, reinforces the modern and streamlined design. A double oven and an almost-hidden pantry maintain the sleek look, keeping the focus on the kitchen’s architecture and flow.
Mudroom & Dining Area Adjacent to the kitchen is a mudroom with a charming barn door leading toward the garage. A half-wall accent features eccentric black-and-white tile, complemented by bold black fixtures. A small custom hidden closet maximizes storage while maintaining a refined appearance.
The dining room, open and airy, continues the wood flooring and is adorned with stylish pendant lighting—perfect for gatherings and everyday meals. The wide, open staircase is fully exposed to the dining area and first floor, creating a striking architectural feature that visually connects the spaces. Its modern wood-and-metal design contributes to the home’s open flow while serving as a sculptural centerpiece within the main living level.
*Bedrooms & Laundry*
Guest and secondary bedrooms are bright and inviting, each with multiple windows framed in sleek black for a modern edge. Every bedroom enjoys its own bathroom, offering comfort and privacy. A compact but well-designed laundry room includes a sink and drying rack, making smart use of space.
The second story features an open layout with wide hallways, enhancing the sense of space and natural flow. This home also includes an office and one of the bedrooms is used for a workout space.
*Primary Suite*
Set apart from the other bedrooms for privacy, the primary suite is a luxurious retreat. An accent wall adds character, while a large walk-in closet offers abundant storage. A skylight fills the room with natural light, enhancing the open, breathable atmosphere.
*Bathrooms*
Each bathroom was thoughtfully designed with its own personality:
- Primary bathroom: The primary bathroom embraces a concrete-inspired look, featuring dual sinks and a spacious shower with double-sided niches—one for each person. An LED makeup mirror adds functional elegance.
- Second bathroom: Gray cabinet, tile wall, black fixtures, frameless shower door, and a striking floral tile accent.

- Fourth bathroom: Blue cabinet, gray tile floors, a tub with frameless shower door, and gray wall tiles paired with sleek chrome fixtures.
- Powder Room: Half wall crown molding with black tile design and fixtures.
*Exterior & Landscape*
The planning process also emphasized low-maintenance landscape design, using easy-care plants that enhance the home’s natural feel without demanding constant upkeep. The home is also equipped with a dedicated EV charging station and solar panels, supporting energy efficiency and modern sustainable living.

Maintenance-free materials were used, utilizing a two-toned theme with picture-framing in a darker color, which gives a streamlined feel. Aluminum balusters of bronze highlight the railing and give it a polished look. (Prior to adding this deck, there was no access to the backyard from the living area; the feel was "boxed-in" with a small screened-in porch off of the living area). The homeowner desired a deck area to step out onto, to take in the views and enjoy outdoor living.

This thoughtfully finished lower level was designed to maximize flexibility, comfort, and long-term livability while maintaining a clean, cohesive aesthetic that complements the rest of the home.
At the heart of the space is an open recreation and media area, featuring plush carpeting, recessed lighting, and a neutral color palette that keeps the rooms feeling bright and expansive. The layout allows for multiple zones—perfect for movie nights, casual entertaining, or quiet relaxation—without sacrificing flow or openness.
Private bedrooms offer welcoming guest accommodations, finished with soft carpeting, custom window treatments, and layered lighting that creates a calm, retreat-like atmosphere. Each room feels intentional and well-proportioned, making them ideal for extended stays or multi-purpose use.
The bathrooms blend modern simplicity with everyday functionality. Clean-lined vanities, quartz countertops, and contemporary fixtures are paired with tiled shower surrounds and integrated niches for a streamlined look. Glass enclosures and thoughtful lighting choices elevate the spaces while keeping maintenance practical.
A custom wet bar and serving area adds convenience and versatility, featuring cabinetry with warm wood tones and ample storage—ideal for entertaining or creating a secondary gathering point within the lower level.
Throughout the space, careful attention was given to lighting, circulation, and material continuity. The result is a lower level that feels bright, finished, and fully integrated into the home—designed not as an afterthought, but as a true extension of everyday living.

If “desert retro” could be translated as a design style, this MCM-inspired kitchen would be it. Our goal for these clients — a young couple who recently relocated to the Pittsburgh-area from Phoenix, AZ — was to bring a touch of the sunny Sonoran into their new home. This subdued, sun-bleached palette feels both vibrant and earthy. A dramatic, shifting landscape that comes alive with the day’s changing light.
Large format terrazzo tiles ground the space with muted, dusty green, ochre and amber. A nod to the tough skins of cacti, agave, and creosote bushes. A mixed finish glass tile backsplash adds pale yellow accents found in parched sand dunes. Three different cabinet finishes form our rocky canyons. Deep brown and clay purple hues like ancient cliff faces stained by manganese and iron oxide. Washed out skies reflecting warm white light. Golden brass details throughout gleam like the desert sun.
By removing a wall in between the kitchen and dining room, we were able to add a working peninsula and pull the range out of the corner. This change opened up the space, solving layout and storage puzzles for our clients — without making the kitchen feel cold or contemporary. Smooth, slab-style cabinet faces paired with streamlined appliances and fixtures keep things low maintenance.

This modern kitchen remodel features classic white shaker cabinetry paired with a contrasting navy blue island, creating a balanced and timeless design.
The perimeter cabinets provide a clean, bright backdrop, while the deep navy island anchors the space and introduces subtle contrast. A waterfall quartz countertop extends down both sides of the island, highlighting the natural veining and adding architectural presence.
The full-height quartz backsplash enhances visual continuity and simplifies maintenance. Stainless steel appliances and matte black hardware complete the contemporary aesthetic without overpowering the neutral palette.
Designed using ready-to-assemble (RTA) cabinetry, this project demonstrates how thoughtfully engineered cabinet construction can achieve a custom look with streamlined ordering and efficient installation. The layout maximizes storage while maintaining clear circulation, making it well-suited for modern open-concept living.

These clients are empty nesters with grown children and several grandchildren living nearby. They love hosting family gatherings for special occasions and wanted a large space with durable materials and neutral, yet interesting finishes. The large island and perimeter countertop allow space for buffet-style get-togethers, while also feeling perfectly scaled to have breakfast for two from the counter stools. They wanted everything to be of lasting quality, but not feel too precious, so their grandchildren can still have fun running on the porcelain floors and baking on the quartz counters.
The clients desired a cohesive space with the best materials, exhibiting a streamlined appeal that still felt welcoming and catered to all their storage needs. The surfaces are low maintenance for easy clean-up and sanitation. The clients wanted custom, solid-wood cabinetry with natural finishes, for an organic element and visual warmth.
The design intent for this space was to create an open, serene Kitchen utilizing a functional layout, quality materials, and organic elements. The area is grounded by dark terrazzo-looking porcelain and uplifted by contrasting light fixtures. We wanted this room to be inviting through a variety of textures and layered lighting, as it is situated at the heart of the home. With custom cabinetry, the highest caliber appliances and thoughtful hardware, this Kitchen is sure to stand the test of time.
Additionally, clients wanted to hide certain items in the kitchen, such as electronics, appliances, cookbooks, trash, and recycling. Storage for sheet trays, knifes, spices, cutlery and cooking utensils were required. Open display shelves for collectables from travels and an area for a coffee & smoothie bar were also desired.
The island incorporates a hidden charging station for electronics, open shelving for cookbooks, while housing an instant hot and chilled water dispenser at the sink. The cabinetry also has a hidden trash and recycling center, specialty spice and cooking utensil pull-outs, drawers with custom inserts for knifes, cutting boards, cutlery, and tableware. An appliance garage allows room for the stand mixer and toaster to be out of sight, but within reach. A lighted coffee and smoothie bar were planned for the clients’ love of coffee and healthy nutrition. The island and floating shelves are made of oak panels with inlaid brass, adding a subtle touch of sparkle and warmth that highlights gold flecks in the island countertop.

This streamlined outdoor grill station features a built-in stainless steel barbecue, integrated outdoor refrigerator, and custom stone cabinetry. The durable countertop and clean modern detailing create a practical, low-maintenance cooking setup that blends seamlessly with the surrounding patio deck.
