Kitchen and Bath Design & Renovation in San Jose, CA - https://www.goodmanhomeremodeling.com/

Our clients have been raising their family in this charming Lakewood ranch home for several years and were ready to make some updates to their home to make it better fit their lifestyle. In particular, the existing kitchen just wasn’t meeting their needs. They were sacrificing usable square footage to redundant circulation and the kitchen wasn’t connecting well with the other spaces in their home, so things had to change. We started by reworking the entry to the kitchen and switching up their layout to allow the kitchen to flow seamlessly with the rest of the house. To add to the open feeling we were striving for, we removed the existing ceiling soffits and created a clean transition between the kitchen and dining room, and installed the same wood flooring throughout the entire home. Aesthetically we wanted to create an inviting kitchen that felt clean and bright but could still stand up to a busy family. Soft grey shaker cabinets gave us the welcoming air we were looking for while providing a subtle contrast against the white quartz counters and backsplash tile. We utilized the same elegant pulls on all of the cabinets to add to the cohesive look of the kitchen and keep things from feeling too cluttered. We wanted to have a little fun with the backsplash without loosing the clean feeling we were going for, so we selected a crisp white picket tile to add a pop of texture. Updating the dining room light fixture and adding a pendant over the sink help to personalize the space and the charming shelves provide an opportunity to display original sculpture.

This kitchen remodel was part of a major home remodel on five acres in the ranch country along California’s Central Coast. The overall architecture and interior design style of the home, and the kitchen in particular, is “modern farmhouse” with an intentional leaning toward modern, and striving further for “inspired.” With spectacular views of horses and vineyards just outside the windows, and a very open floor plan, the goal was to create a strikingly attractive and highly functional entertaining space that still allowed the views to be center stage. The two-tone blend of simple slab-style tobacco-colored “wood” cabinets with Midnight Shadow transitional cabinets resulted in a combination that is both classic and casual. High-end appliances, brass and black handles and faucets, Old-English metal mesh cabinet inserts, and inspired light fixtures add the finishing touches that deliver an inviting, and uniquely timeless “modern farmhouse.”

This traditional, classic, and elegant spacious kitchen features dark wood Rochon custom cabinets. There is a center island with exquisite lighting. The design team strived to create a place for everything to make cooking and entertaining fun and simple. The appliances are Wolf Subzero, and the floor is white, which makes the dark wood cabinets pop!

The original site was the former residence of Wuyi Duwei Liu Xiangzhi in the Qing Dynasty. The three-entry and two-yard wooden structure wears a bucket-style building with a unique style and ancient charm. After a hundred years of catastrophe, in the blooming and precipitation of time, telling the past history.
The lighting design strives to create a subtle and introverted, low-key but prominent light environment. The lighting technique to brighten the cavity in the old house area highlights the unique cavity decoration design in the architectural structure. The color temperature is warm white light, which not only restores the color and texture of the building itself, but also strengthens the modeling arc of the gable part of the traditional Chinese building.
At night, under the background of the lights, dreams of the past and the present can pass through the past and the present, feeling the unique Chinese architectural charm of the flying eaves and the white walls and black tiles.
The promenade part has changed from the traditional, and mostly uses linear facade lighting to provide functional lighting for the moving lines, so that the traditional and elegant architectural atmosphere also contains a bright and modern temperament.
Listening to the wind and rain at night, the iron horse glares into a dream.
It was late at night, with the gurgling rain outside the window, lying on the couch, dreaming with the wind and rain all over the sky.
In the dream, he was the general who wore a battle armor and clambered across the frozen river to fight on the battlefield. Galloping a lifetime, full of pride.
When I wake up, the light is soft and warm, and I can't help but sigh that I have the universe in my heart, and I also cherish the ordinary warmth.
The extraordinary in the ordinary, the perfect fusion of ancient rhyme and modernity, the General's Mansion allows you to experience dreamlike, warm world.

This new mixed-use building located in a quaint village has made a name for itself. It features a third floor apartment, second floor office space, and first floor retail. The design of the building's exterior bridges the gap between new and old. The cedar shingle gable roof form and double hung window style blend with the traditional New England context of neighboring buildings. The vertical grooved siding and a sliding 'barn' door hint at an agrarian vernacular. The sliding door features sixteen sparking panels of 'glass quilts' designed by glass artist, Alan Davidson of Guilford, CT. Angular roof forms, support brackets, and trim along with the black paint color provide a modern edge. The building and the new first floor art gallery have generated much interest and excitement for the town.

A PERFECT RED SALTBOX ON THE EXTERIOR, USUALLY MEANS A FAIRLY TRADITIONAL INTERIOR. NOT SO IN THIS CONNECTICUT HOUSE WHERE THIS ANTIQUE WITH SMALL BEDROOMS AND QUIRKY SPACES CALLED OUT FOR A MODERN APPROACH — OPEN SPACES, MIRRORS AND REFLECTIVE MATERIALS COUNTER THE WARMTH OF NATURAL WOOD FLOORS PAIRED WITH NATURAL FIBER RUGS. THE PROJECT STARTED WITH THE KITCHEN - AND A BRIEF THAT CALLED FOR A LARGE, OPEN AREA WITH A PENINSULA. KEEPING EVERYTHING WHITE LET THE VIEW POP! THE DINING ROOM + MAIN LR — PLAY UP A MODERN, WARM VIBE SO KEEPING THE BRICK FLOOR WAS A MUST, BUT WE ADDED FLOATING CHAIRS AND A NEUTRAL PAINT SCHEME THROUGHOUT. CUSTOM ARTWORK ON THE FRONT WALL BY JEFF BORTNIKER PLAYS UP A SUBTLE POP-ART FEEL. UPSTAIRS A MASTER SUITE KEEPS A NEW ENGLAND FEEL WITH TRANSOM WINDOWS BUT FEELS LUSH — WHILE A WALK-IN CLOSET (NEVER EASY IN AN ANTIQUE) UNDER THE EAVE OF THE ROOF-LINE GIVES A DRESSING ROOM FEEL. FAMILY BEDROOMS AGAIN MAKE USE OF EAVES AND RETURNS IN WALLS TO CREATE COZY NOOKS, HIGHLIGHTED WITH COLOR + GLOSS. WE WERE STRIVING FOR A WARM BALANCE AND USED ARCHITECTURE, TEXTURE, MATERIAL + COLOR TO ACHIEVE IT IN THIS FAMILY HOME.

Our client was striving for a modern, spa like interior that exudes casual elegance. We incorporated natural stone and porcelain finishes in a gray and white scheme give it substance; while being airy and open.

This cottage remodel on Lake Charlevoix was such a fun project to work on. We really strived to bring in the coastal elements around the home to give this cottage it's asthetics. You will see a lot of whites, light blues, and some grey/greige accents as well.

Installed 6 ft high "Fairfield" cedar fencing. All fence material is #1 grade cedar and posts are Pressure Treated. The panels have been made to strive the bottom to be able to keep tighter to the uneven grade when steeping the fence.

Our clients were relocating from the upper peninsula to the lower peninsula and wanted to design a retirement home on their Lake Michigan property. The topography of their lot allowed for a walk out basement which is practically unheard of with how close they are to the water. Their view is fantastic, and the goal was of course to take advantage of the view from all three levels. The positioning of the windows on the main and upper levels is such that you feel as if you are on a boat, water as far as the eye can see. They were striving for a Hamptons / Coastal, casual, architectural style. The finished product is just over 6,200 square feet and includes 2 master suites, 2 guest bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, sunroom, home bar, home gym, dedicated seasonal gear / equipment storage, table tennis game room, sauna, and bonus room above the attached garage. All the exterior finishes are low maintenance, vinyl, and composite materials to withstand the blowing sands from the Lake Michigan shoreline.
