Light blues were chosen for their mind-body calming effect (shown to balance human metabolism), while wheat yellows and rich browns reference the early autumn landscape of the Peace Valley, where the river runs through.

An energetic climber, nutritionist, pathologist, doctor and full time awesome human approached us for her third project under the Imbue label. We were beside ourselves and ready for the task of creating her permanent retreat. Being a professional busybody, the focus of the project was to disconnect, relax and recover. The home's soft corners immediately draw you into the womb of the dwelling; a sunken social room with a mind expanding canyon view. The secondary function of the refuge was to house dear friends and acquaintances of the vertical realm. The home is a great example of altruistic architecture. Take time to study the plan and understand why a couch surfer may never want to leave. Please come in, sit back and unwind.

Ligne Roset Prado Sofa www.Softsquare.com Typically the design process surrounding a new sofa is heavily focused on aesthetic research. Prado represents a departure from this school of thought completely. Prado has first and foremost been designed based on the study of lifestyles and human nature. We find the same inspirations in Prado that brought us Smala in the earlier part of this century.

This 5'x8' laundry room is a very efficient size for a laundry room. The sliding barn door ensures that no floor space is taken up while allowing for all four walls in the room to be used. No space is wasted in this design. CDH Designs 15 East 4th St Emporium, PA 15834

The homeowners of this condo sought our assistance when downsizing from a large family home on Howe Sound to a small urban condo in Lower Lonsdale, North Vancouver. They asked us to incorporate many of their precious antiques and art pieces into the new design. Our challenges here were twofold; first, how to deal with the unconventional curved floor plan with vast South facing windows that provide a 180 degree view of downtown Vancouver, and second, how to successfully merge an eclectic collection of antique pieces into a modern setting. We began by updating most of their artwork with new matting and framing. We created a gallery effect by grouping like artwork together and displaying larger pieces on the sections of wall between the windows, lighting them with black wall sconces for a graphic effect. We re-upholstered their antique seating with more contemporary fabrics choices - a gray flannel on their Victorian fainting couch and a fun orange chenille animal print on their Louis style chairs. We selected black as an accent colour for many of the accessories as well as the dining room wall to give the space a sophisticated modern edge. The new pieces that we added, including the sofa, coffee table and dining light fixture are mid century inspired, bridging the gap between old and new. White walls and understated wallpaper provide the perfect backdrop for the colourful mix of antique pieces. Interior Design by Lori Steeves, Simply Home Decorating. This wooded, lakeside home plays an influential role in the homeowners artistic vision as a magical realist painter. By providing an environment that comes alive with the sights and sounds of nature, the artist is able to closely study as an explorer would by uncovering, recording, and rearranging the beauty of the natural world and the beauty of human beings. This connection to nature comes from a horticultural interest manifested in the daily ritual of digging and pruning in her Connecticut garden. A daily ritual of physical immersion with the dirt and the worms of life contrasts with the otherworldly fantastical spaces the artist creates for her paintings. The paradoxical character of these two places imbues her paintings with an alluring mystery.
