In the upper section, metal pegs were used to store the wine bottles neck out with corks forward. This style allows for a high reveal angled display of each wine bottle, all the while ensuring that each cork remains wet and wines are stored properly for long term and graceful aging.

Ridgewood Home ConstructionThis Grand Rapids Township homeowner had a clear picture of the high-end finishes they wanted, but needed a partner to bring all the pieces together into one beautiful kitchen. Since this remodel was the first phase of a longer-term plan for the home, it also needed to fit seamlessly with the existing house today while remaining timeless enough to feel current even after later phases are complete.
Ridgewood Home Construction updated the layout with new cabinets, durable countertops, and a stylish tile backsplash, adding visual interest. Updated plumbing and lighting fixtures improved both function and form, and a fresh coat of paint brightened the entire space.
The result is a kitchen that's clean, timeless, and tailored to the way this family gathers, cooks, and connects at home, built to be the heart of the home, even as the rest of the house gets updated.

Part of the plan was to create an actual master suite with proper ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet space. Phase one took the project to drywall stage, but later we added phase two where we finished the rest of the second level to finish stage along with a complete refresh of the main level with new finishings including flooring and counter-tops. The exterior of the home was also re-done including new windows, doors, and siding plus roof shingles of course. The result was a great and expanded character bungalow in a very desirable area located close to downtown.

This private home project is divided in 2 phases. Phase 1 include the living room, entry hall and the family room. We started by creating a floor plan that flows, using the furniture already own by our client. We sourced, purchased and installed some new furniture, soft furnishing and decorative items, working tightly with the small budget of our client.
In addition, our client wanted us to re-style the spaces in a hotel-like look.
The Second Phase is in preparation and will involve completing the overall look.

Julia Chasman DesignThe center bay window is smaller and we framed it with floor-length custom curtains in a teal and gray print linen -- a very expensive fabric sourced at a bargain price -- at Ragfinders in DTLA. A Swedish hand-carved coffee table works against the wall to feature more stacks of design books, and showcase a pair of vintage green ceramic lamps bought at auction, and refurbished with custom shades in a classic Schumacher print. A pair of Chinese reverse-glass mirror panels are framed in red lacquer, and work with the red garden stools to keep layering in the red and Chinese elements. Tiny oil painting on board, bought at a local brocante in Paris sits in the window, suggesting the proximity of the sea...

Custom Design & ConstructionOur homeowner approached us first in order to remodel her master suite. Her shower was leaking and she wanted to turn 2 separate closets into one enviable walk in closet. This homeowners projects have been completed in multiple phases. The second phase was focused on the kitchen, laundry room and converting the dining room to an office. We feel fortunate that she has such great taste and furnished her home so well!
Kitchen: The two biggest requests are homeowner had for their kitchen remodel was banquette seating and to reconfigure it so that she didn’t do so much walking while cooking. This transitional kitchen features white painted cabinets and a granite countertop. There are 4 pieces of historic porcelain tile from South America featured. The flooring is Narbina in a French pattern. In addition to the designer pendent light by Jamie Young: Flowering Lotus Antique Gold, there are also LED recessed lights. For the appliances our client decided on a Thermador 36” Gas Range, Kitchen Aid Refrigerator and Thermador Dishwasher. The kitchen has open shelving above the countertop and in the pantry.

Julia Chasman DesignAnother corner grouping showcases the large antique Buddha (Balinese perhaps) on a small table stand to add even more height and scale to the corner. Red leather small wing chair from Cisco Home is paired with the antique tea table, and vintage Chinese lamp with custom shade by Matilda Goad. Wall mirror is from Nadeau, and is handprinted in deep reds and greens. Gilt table accessories echo the Buddha and is repeated around the room with other gilt lamps and elements.
Hahka KitchensPAT RICE KITCHEN
This Santa Barbara Bungalow, located in an historical area of Santa Barbara, had tons of charm, but the kitchen was small, cramped and lacked modern day function and storage.
The kitchen you see today was achieved in 2 phases, by 2 different homeowners. It’s bright and sunny, with ample storage, generous amounts of countertop space and an Island perfect for meal prep. This is a classic kitchen, with white inset Shaker style doors, which continues to be the hottest look on the market.
Phase 1 improved the small kitchen by eliminating a side door and taking out a built-in banquette, thus increasing kitchen size. A small island was added and a washer & dryer area was included. Perfect for a young family.
Phase 2 enlarged the kitchen even more. A back bedroom was opened up to the kitchen, providing space for the office and bookcase areas. The laundry was moved to another part of the house, thus allowing for more cabinetry and countertop space. Two pantries were added, along with open shelving, plus alcoves for a microwave and a kitchen TV. A maple free standing Island is a classic contrast to the white cabinetry. By specifying maple countertops for the office area, it ties the kitchen and office areas together.
Hahka Kitchens handled both phases of the kitchen remodel, and we were able to order matching cabinets and obtain the same countertop material. The result is that the kitchen is completely integrated with no evidence that this amazing kitchen was done in 2 stages, 8 years apart. The new homeowner did replace knobs and pulls from phase 1, and more ordered for the new cabinets, thus putting her mark on the kitchen. And the new homeowner found the sturdy and functional Island, which was a perfect complement to the white shaker cabinets.
One last note about the office area, which is flooded with light from patio doors and large windows. The desk, with white shaker doors that match the kitchen, has loads of functionality. 2 large desk drawers, with hanging file folders, a pull-out trash can, small desk drawers and open shelving meet the needs of a home office. The built-in bookcase, which was fitted into an existing recessed alcove, was expertly installed and provides both open display areas and hidden storage. The “V groove doors” complement the Shaker doors, adding a furniture charm to the office.
This expanded kitchen is truly the “heart of this historic home”.

Rudloff Custom BuildersWe renovated the exterior and the 4-car garage of this colonial, New England-style estate in Haverford, PA. The 3-story main house has white, western red cedar siding and a green roof. The detached, 4-car garage also functions as a gentleman’s workshop. Originally, that building was two separate structures. The challenge was to create one building with a cohesive look that fit with the main house’s New England style. Challenge accepted! We started by building a breezeway to connect the two structures. The new building’s exterior mimics that of the main house’s siding, stone and roof, and has copper downspouts and gutters. The stone exterior has a German shmear finish to make the stone look as old as the stone on the house. The workshop portion features mahogany, carriage style doors. The workshop floors are reclaimed Belgian block brick.

White Sands Coastal DevelopmentA few months after moving into this aging 2200 s.f. 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath Spanish bungalow, a creative couple decided to renovate to better fit their lifestyle.
In phase one, we demo-ed the entire downstairs to create a sunny, open-concept living area with a bar, kitchen, and dining. We also added built-in storage and a powder room, to make the home more functional.
When we finished this space, not only did the rooms flow into each other, but the new interior stucco flowed throughout the house. The stucco curved around corners and the edges of ceilings, forming a seamless fireplace mantle and hood, arched passageways, and hollow storage nooks. Phase two included replacing rotting wooden doors and windows with aluminum windows and new French doors. We installed a bubble-gum pink front door with simple cut-outs that, combined with the sensual stucco, imbued a hint of coastal art deco, a la Miami. We re-stuccoed the home’s exterior and resurfaced the polished concrete roof deck.
Now the former Spanish bungalow is as bright, eclectic, playful, and immediate as Venice Beach itself. Its vibe is part-vintage twee, part California contemporary, with a hint of Mediterranean in the exterior entry tire. But even with these varied influences, the space feels cohesive, clean, and airy. It’s a unique home that radiates the values (health, wellbeing, originality, and good times) of its inhabitants.

Katie Hutchison StudioThe owners of this custom 1980’s contemporary home were ready for a new look that they aim to achieve in several phases. Their first priority was reimagining three bathrooms: a powder room, guest bath, and master bath. The original bathrooms were dark and in a grim brown palette.
Renovations included new windows and a new gray-and-white palette with accents of warm clear-finished Sapele (in the form of custom, floating vanities), and brushed-nickel hardware. Each renovated bathroom was conceived to be a unique modern design within the new overall palette.
The tiny power room includes an underwater enveloping wallpaper from Hygge & West. The guest bath boasts a herringbone gray-and-white encaustic floor tile, and the master bathroom gained a new window opening, full-height wall tile, and a generous custom walk-in shower.
Next phases will likely include a new garage, new entry, and exterior makeover.
